Chapter 154 Leaving the Li Family

Seeing Kang Qiqi's demeanor, Kang's parents felt relieved, though they were afraid she had truly fallen in love with Qi Bowen.

She's willing to die for him and refuses to let go.

The Kang family discussed their plan and left before Marshal Li returned. Over the years, they had been pretending to be honest and timid in front of the old marshal.

We mustn't let him know what they're planning.

Qi Bowen returned home early that night. He felt much better after venting his frustrations and went straight home after leaving the alley.

The Ministry of Development and Reform is so idle they could get bored out of their wits. There's nothing for him to do when he gets back, and his grandfather gets off work late anyway, so no one knows when he'll be back.

He's tired now and needs to rest.

When he arrived at the military compound, he felt that many people were watching him and whispering among themselves.

His brow was furrowed; what had happened?

He could clearly sense that they were talking about him, but he was hiding too many things. What had gone wrong?

Just when he was starting to feel a little better, his mood soured again, and Qi Bowen went home in a huff.

If they dare, let them come and say it to him. Do they dare?

"Bowen, why are you only coming back now? What are you going to do now?" Grandma Kang's eyes were full of regret when she saw Qi Bowen return.

She watched this child grow up from a young age and treated him with genuine care.

I thought I could still count on her in the future, but now she's nothing to me. All that time I spent building relationships was for nothing.

"Grandma, what's wrong?" Qi Bowen was momentarily confused, and upon hearing her words, he had a bad feeling.

"Don't you know? Look at this." The newspaper is delivered to our house every day, and today the biggest page is about the Li family.

Qi Bowen felt dizzy as he looked at the newspaper. It was all over. Everything was over.

"Where's my grandfather? Where's my grandfather?" Qi Bowen shouted. He had imagined this day would come.

But he felt he wouldn't leave the Li family; at worst, he'd just have to fight the one who got replaced.

But his grandfather was so ruthless that he didn't give him any chance at all. He directly revealed his identity and exposed everything that had happened back then.

He didn't intend to leave him any room for maneuver. Just because he's not his biological son, does that mean all the affection we've shown him over the years was fake?

He has been taking care of them all these years, how could they be so heartless and not care at all?

"Your grandfather hasn't come back yet." Seeing him like this, Grandma Kang shook her head. Her granddaughter already had better plans, so she didn't need to comfort him.

It would be best if he left the Li family as soon as possible, so that the old marshal could bring the real one back and she could arrange for her granddaughter to be with the real one.

"Everyone...the people outside already know?" Qi Bowen asked in disbelief. When exactly did his grandfather find out?

He seemed perfectly normal when they had dinner together yesterday; he really knows how to hide it!

He must have already made up his mind, right? He's been in the Li family for so many years, yet it seems he's never really understood the Li family members.

No matter what he did, he could never win their hearts, and he seemed out of place in the Li family.

"The old marshal has already published it in the newspaper. He knows what he should and shouldn't know." Seeing his distraught appearance, Old Madam Kang silently withdrew.

She didn't want to waste her time on him.

Qi Bowen's mind was in complete chaos. Did everyone in Beijing already know?

What should he do? Qi Feng would probably be happy to hear this news, so who can he rely on?

Yes, he still has his mother. No matter what, he won't leave the Li family. His mother definitely won't want to part with him.

As long as he stays in the Li family, he can plan for the future; who knows, that guy might have already died in an accident.

Qi Bowen was thinking of going to his mother's house to pretend to be pitiful when he suddenly remembered that his mother had gone out of town yesterday.

Good! They did it on purpose, transferring her away and then dealing with him. What are they trying to do? Do they really want to ruin him?

Are they even human? Even if they have a cat or dog, they can't be this heartless! They just say they don't want it anymore?

Qi Bowen was completely stumped. He had made quite a few friends in Beijing over the years.

But he knew in his heart that those people valued his identity more.

Very few people actually come for him; the only person he can rely on now is his mother.

Qi Bowen left before his grandfather returned; he was going to find his mother, as she was the only one he truly cared for now.

He went upstairs, packed some things, took all his money and notes, and left the Li family.

He had barely left when Marshal Li returned.

"Has Qi Bowen returned?" Marshal Li had come home early specifically to talk to him and clear things up.

If he could just go back to Yangliu Brigade on his own, then all that would be fine. But the fact that he dared to take action against that kid is enough to make him die a hundred times over.

"You're back. You were just here a moment ago." Old Mrs. Kang was always very respectful to people.

The two didn't seem like a couple, but rather like a superior and subordinate; Marshal Li was sitting, while Grandma Kang stood cautiously.

"Go and call him down." Marshal Li knew that Qi Bowen was avoiding him, and he guessed that Qi Bowen was still thinking of a way to get him to come down.

With his limited cleverness, he would have accomplished nothing if his family hadn't been so lenient with him.

Grandma Kang hurriedly went upstairs and searched the whole place but couldn't find him. When she entered Qi Bowen's room, she found the cabinets in a mess.

"Marshal, Bowen has run away. There's no one in the house, and the clothes in the closet are gone." Grandma Kang hurriedly went downstairs to tell the old marshal.

Why did he run away? She thought Qi Bowen should be crying and begging the old marshal to keep him.

Why did they leave on their own initiative?

"Hmph, he ran away quickly. He's gone, so be it. Don't let anyone in again if he comes. He has nothing to do with the Li family."

Marshal Li knew perfectly well that Qi Bowen wasn't ashamed to face him; he would definitely find a way to stay in Beijing.

He might have gone to find Xiao Ci, but then he'd be disappointed. He told Qi Feng to take Xiao Ci away; with his son-in-law around, Qi Bowen's plan was doomed.

It's better to leave now, because it will be difficult for him to come back. He has never left Beijing and has been too well protected by his family for more than 20 years, without experiencing any hardships.

He has no status or position now, yet he's still arrogant and haughty. I reckon he'll be able to handle this without me even lifting a finger.

He knew exactly how much money he had, and over the years, in order to train him, he hadn't given him much money.

With that meager salary, and his extravagant spending habits, he probably won't be able to save much.

Xiao Ci's allowance is also managed by Qi Feng, so it's probably not much. He has enough to eat and drink, and even if he saves all his salary, it's only a small amount of money.

Marshal Li didn't care about any of that; all he wanted to do was bring his grandson back as soon as possible.

Qi Bowen ran out of the house and went straight to the train station. He knew that his mother had gone to the home of an aunt in Sichuan Province.

If he can find his mother and then talk to his maternal grandfather properly, he'll be willing to be adopted.

When they realize that he's really gone, they'll understand how good he was. He can't stay in Beijing anymore.
