Chapter 158 The Real and Fake Grandson

When Qi Feng got home, he quickly washed up and went upstairs. He looked at his sleeping wife and thought he would talk to her after she woke up.

Unexpectedly, before he could even speak, an outsider in the compound revealed everything.

"Li Ci, what are you planning to do with your son Bowen?" Liu Hao's mother quickly came over when she saw Li Ci.

When she heard the news, she felt like the sky had fallen, and she didn't know it was true until she saw it in the newspaper.

She was also anxious. Her son had followed Qi Bowen since he was a child, and later he even managed to get into the same department as Qi Bowen.

What are they after? Isn't it just that when Qi Bowen becomes successful in the future, he can help out Liu Hao?

Everyone in the compound knows the Li family! Not to mention Marshal Li, even Li Ci's husband is someone they wouldn't dare to underestimate.

Her husband was just a department head; in Beijing, you could run into an official every few steps. Their family was nothing compared to him.

They only thought about following Qi Bowen and getting a share of the profits. As long as someone said they were going out with Qi Bowen, their family wouldn't stop them.

But what can we do now? Qi Bowen turns out to be a fake. What was the point of all their efforts over the years?

"What's wrong with Bowen?" Li Ci woke up early. She wanted to eat fried dough sticks, so she went out for a stroll to buy some.

She frowned slightly as someone stopped her and said some inexplicable things. She wondered if Bowen had come back last night.

"You don't know? Look at this." Liu Hao's mother handed him the newspaper she had been carrying in her pocket.

These past few days, everyone has been carrying this with them when they go out, and it's causing quite a stir and discussion.

Li Ci frowned slightly, took the newspaper and began to read. She saw a line on the front: Shock! Marshal Li's real and fake grandsons.

Li Ci stared blankly at the contents of the newspaper, feeling as if there was something wrong with her eyes.

"Where did you get this? It can't be real." Li Ci threw the newspaper away and rushed home, running upstairs as soon as she got there.

"Ah Feng, get up quickly, something's happened." Li Ci went over and called Qi Feng up. She felt that something must have gone wrong.

How could her father possibly sever ties with Bowen? How could Bowen not be his grandson?

"What's wrong?" Qi Feng looked at the person groggily, then calmly sat up, appearing completely unfazed.

“I don’t know where this newspaper came from, but it’s saying that Bowen isn’t our child and that my dad has cut ties with him. It’s all nonsense. You should go and find out what’s going on.”

Li Ci still believes that someone is deliberately causing trouble for their family.

"Xiao Ci, please sit down. I have something to tell you about this." Qi Feng rubbed his head and looked at her seriously.

"Xiao Ci, everything written here is true." Qi Feng didn't know who had blurted it out so quickly.

He felt that Li Ci wouldn't listen to anything he said in this state.

Qi Feng looked at the incredulous person and recounted what had happened back then and how difficult the child had been all these years.

Even last night, his father-in-law told him that Qi Bowen had laid a hand on the child, and Li Ci had told him the same thing.

"Ah Feng, how is that possible?" Li Ci stared at the man in astonishment, trying to see a hint of a joke in his eyes.

But Qi Feng looked at her intently, with no sign of evasion in his eyes.

“Xiao Ci, I know you can’t accept this right now, but now that it’s happened, we have to face it.”

“You should hate that family. Their scheming has made it impossible for you to have any more children. Haven’t you always wanted another daughter? I’ve seen how much regret you’ve had all these years.”

"But we've been raising our enemy's child for so many years, while our own children are being tormented in their hands."

Qi Feng knew that trying to persuade her was useless; in Li Ci's heart, Qi Bowen was her life. He could only try to analyze the situation from a different perspective.

Li Ci's mind went blank. She opened her mouth as if to say something, but she couldn't utter a sound.

She wanted to cry and make a scene, but in the end she just looked at Qi Feng blankly, completely at a loss.

“Xiao Ci, I know you can’t accept it all at once, so Dad and I thought we’d talk to you about it after things were resolved.”

Qi Feng felt bad seeing his wife like this, but he and his father-in-law were very accepting of the situation.

That's because they were very disappointed in Qi Bowen. Even if they didn't say it, they all felt that he couldn't support the family.

Knowing that he wasn't their biological son, they all had a feeling that they knew it all along.

But Xiao Ci is different. She has put so much effort into Qi Bowen, and that feeling is not so easy to give up.

"Where...where is Bowen?" Li Ci's voice trembled.

"He's gone. Dad originally planned to send him back to Yangliu Brigade, but considering all these years, let's just pretend nothing happened and let everything go back to normal."

"He probably didn't want to, and was thinking of going to you to plead for him, but he probably took a different path from us."

Qi Feng wouldn't tell her what they were planning behind the scenes; he had no intention of letting the Wei family off so easily.

Qi Bowen won't make a move; he thinks he can bring this upon himself.

"Is that so? You deliberately tricked me into going out, didn't you?" Li Ci wasn't stupid; her aunt was perfectly fine.

Now it seems there's anything she still doesn't understand?

"Dad was afraid you'd be too soft-hearted, which wouldn't be fair to the child." Qi Feng looked at his wife, afraid she might misunderstand.

“Bowen didn’t know anything, and those things weren’t things he could have decided.” Li Ci knew she shouldn’t say that, but she still felt bad.

How could it have turned out like this? The first thing that came to her mind was those days and nights she spent in the hospital holding that child.

She was unwilling to accept it; fate had truly played a cruel joke on her.

“We did nothing wrong to him. If it weren’t for us, he might not be alive today. Besides, he knew his identity a long time ago but chose to keep it a secret.”

“They even laid a hand on that child. He was innocent when he was young, but he's not innocent now.” Qi Feng could tell from his wife’s expression that she was going to get stuck on this.

He and his father-in-law were worried from the beginning that she couldn't distinguish right from wrong.

"No, Bowen is a good boy." Li Ci said this, whether to Qi Feng or to comfort herself, it was unclear.

She felt like she had lived a joke all these years.

"Xiao Ci, then tell me, what do you want to do?" Qi Feng looked at his wife. He had said so much, but she hadn't mentioned the child once.

She keeps talking about Bowen, Bowen. Doesn't she care at all? He's her own son!

"I...I...We only have one child in the Li family, one more won't make a difference, why don't we all stay?"

“Yes, they can all stay. Is that alright?” Li Ci suddenly stood up, looking at the person with an expectant expression.
