"I don't know you, we have nothing to do with each other." Qi Bowen stared blankly at the person, then reacted and vehemently retorted.
"It's okay? Say it again, have you forgotten how you got this good day today?"
"Let me tell you, you must acknowledge me and take care of me in my old age, otherwise I will sue you. Don't forget that I have the things you left behind to prove your identity."
Wei Changgen had already guessed this would happen, so he wasn't afraid at all. His previously kind face turned ruthless.
He is where he is today thanks to his own efforts; there's no way to get rid of him.
"Who cares about your identity documents? Everyone here knows who I am. Go ahead and sue me if you want. If I heard you right, you were sent down to the farm, weren't you?"
"Go ahead and sue me. See who's willing to listen to you. You're a guilty person yourself. Who would want to be associated with a bad guy like you? Everyone will understand me."
Qi Bowen doesn't care about any of that now. Who can he threaten with those things? His identity is no secret in Beijing.
"You...aren't you afraid? If you fall out with me, you'll lose everything." Wei Changgen was stunned, and struggled to lift his head from the ground to look at the person.
"Nothing? I've had nothing for a long time." Qi Bowen said as if he had heard a joke.
He was filled with hatred. If this person had been more decisive back then, that person would have been dead long ago.
Even if he finds out later, so what? His own children are gone, so isn't the Li family still his?
But he's done it all, leaving behind such a huge menace. Now that he's in this state, he's come looking for him.
Seeing his nonchalant expression and with so many people around, Wei Changgen realized something was wrong.
He dragged his exhausted body all the way here, and the people who brought him here also ran away. Qi Bowen was not afraid of his threats at all, so what should he do?
His mind was a mess. All he knew was that if he left this place, he would have nowhere to go. He wanted to live; he didn't want to die.
"Since you don't want to deal with me, then let's go to the countryside together. I know about the things you did in the countryside, you hired someone to do the dirty work..."
Wei Changgen, in a fit of despair, was about to speak when Qi Bowen interrupted him.
"Shut up." Qi Bowen glared fiercely at Wei Changgen, afraid that those people would leave behind some incriminating evidence.
It's unclear how many of the people he recruited were exposed.
If he finds out something and reports it, he might be sent to a farm.
Qi Bowen was terrified, completely forgetting that if those people really did something, how could the Li family possibly let him go?
But he doesn't dare to gamble now, for fear that someone will find out something else. No one will protect him now.
"What exactly do you want? Because of you, I have nowhere to stay in Beijing anymore."
"Did you see those uniformed men standing outside? They're here to watch me. I'm being sent back to the countryside tomorrow."
"What's the use of you coming to me now? The Li family doesn't want me anymore. It's all because of that good son you raised. With him coming, I have no place in the Li family anymore."
Qi Bowen had no idea what he was up to. Did he think he could still enjoy a life of luxury in Beijing with him?
"You're going to the countryside? Which countryside? Are you one of the educated youth sent to the countryside?" Wei Changgen was anxious. There was a bunch of people surrounding him at the door, and his head was buzzing. He hadn't heard what they were saying at all.
It was the same people who brought him who threw him to the ground. The sharp pain woke him up; otherwise, he would still be in a daze.
“Go back to Yangliu Brigade. The Li family said to go back to where you came from. Are you satisfied now?” Qi Bowen looked at the man with annoyance.
"How could that be? Why would they send you back to Yangliu Brigade? You were raised by them, you are a member of the Li family."
"No, you can't go back. You have to stay in Beijing." Wei Changgen panicked. If Qi Bowen was sent back, what would be the point of everything he had done?
"Hmph, if you're so capable, go and talk to the Li family!" Qi Bowen was even more furious when he heard his matter-of-fact words. Did he not want to stay?
Wei Changgen looked at Qi Bowen and saw his angry expression. He knew that what Qi Bowen said was true, and he couldn't bear it and fainted.
"Huh? Quick, this person has fainted, get him out of here!" Qi Bowen was startled and hurriedly shouted to the people at the door.
The people at the door looked at each other and then turned away in tacit agreement.
They didn't want to get involved. This person was injured so badly; what if something happened if they helped?
Besides, Qi Bowen is in such a state now, he's not worth their help. They wouldn't do something that's thankless and exhausting.
The neighborhood committee said we need to keep a close watch on him today and not let him go out, but we have to send him away as soon as it gets light tomorrow.
"Qi Bowen, you need to deal with this person quickly. We can't afford to have any more burdens now."
Li Ci remained inside, burying her head in the sand. She felt utterly humiliated, and she could clearly hear everything the people outside were saying.
She knew they had no way out now and could only take it one step at a time. Once her father regretted it, he would naturally bring her back to Beijing.
Her father was heartless; he even moved her household registration to the countryside, so she had no choice but to stay there for the time being.
Otherwise, staying in Beijing would mean being a drifter, and she might even be sent to a lower-level city. Now that her father is like this, he won't care about her anymore.
She packed everything she could take with her inside the house. She had never been to the countryside, no matter how hard life had been in those years.
When she stayed at her aunt's house, because of her father, they always gave her the best of everything, and she never suffered any hardship.
It's easy to imagine how poor the countryside is these days, so she had to bring enough money and tickets, as well as everything she could from home.
Fortunately, Qi Feng's salary over the years has been with her; otherwise, she would have been worried about having nothing since she had never worked.
"Mom, is he dead?" Qi Bowen asked anxiously, only then noticing that Wei Changgen's legs were empty.
His pants were stained with blood, and his face was ashen, as if he had stopped breathing.
"Dead? Then hurry up and get him out of here. Do you want him to die in the house? If you really want to acknowledge this biological father, then get out of here too."
Li Ci was already furious. Didn't the house have enough bad luck already?
"I called out to the people outside, but they ignored me and won't let us out. What can I do?"
Qi Bowen was already annoyed, and Li Ci kept scolding him, which made him even more irritable.
"Fine, you're already yelling at me before we've even left. Who am I doing this for?"
"Now that you've found your biological father, that's fine. You can go with him. I'll go to the countryside by myself."
How could Li Ci tolerate Qi Bowen's tone? She couldn't control her father, but could she not control Qi Bowen?
