Chapter 333 Let's Die Together

“We…” The political commissar wiped the sweat from his brow. He was utterly exhausted. How could these people be so good at causing trouble?

"Battalion Commander Shi, come here." The political commissar looked at the person next to him who dared not speak and pulled him out directly.

Battalion Commander Shi's family is always a source of trouble. His mother is a formidable figure in the army, and she's been involved in several conflicts between family members.

They've mediated several times, promising everything on the surface, but then they forget about it the next day.

Now things have escalated to the hospital and even reached the old marshal.

"Marshal, I'm so sorry. My mother comes from the countryside and hasn't received much education. I'll definitely talk to her properly when I get back."

Battalion Commander Shi had been huddled there for ages, all he wanted to do was crawl into a hole. Even having a baby could cause him a huge mess.

He had just returned from a mission and hadn't even had a chance to rest when he heard that his wife had gone to the hospital. Before he could even get there, the regimental commander and political commissar took him to the hospital.

His mother is restless for even a day. Thinking about how he was always in the army, cleaning up after her messes, he was really exhausted.

His mother couldn't say a word against him, otherwise she would cry and wail about her miserable life, saying things like "a grown son is no longer under his mother's control" and "unfilial."

He didn't know how else to be filial. He gave her the money to manage, brought her to the army base to enjoy a comfortable life, and didn't let her do farm work.

His wife takes care of all the housework. She goes out every day to chat with other people, and she still complains that she's tired. He would rather he stay away on missions all the time.

"Comrade, this is not a matter of whether you have received education or not, it is a matter of the most basic quality of being a human being. As a female comrade, you are biased towards men and you discriminate against women."

"She tries to snatch other people's children without distinguishing right from wrong, and she sits on the ground crying and making a scene if things don't go her way. She does everything that comes with taking advantage of her age."

Marshal Li looked at the man in front of him. With a mother like that, his first impression of him was very bad.

Before the old marshal could finish speaking, the old woman who had been secretly listening in the ward noticed something was wrong and rushed over.

“You can’t bully my son just because you outnumber me. I didn’t do anything. Don’t try to frame me.”

The woman felt that these people wanted her to take the blame, since she had only seen two misunderstandings about their family.

They've done nothing wrong, why is this going on and on?

"Mother, what are you doing?" Battalion Commander Shi quickly pulled his mother away.

“Aunt Shi, everyone knows what you’re like in the army. We’re all one family in the army, so we won’t hold it against you. But this is a hospital.”

“You can’t be jealous just because someone has two boys and make a scene to snatch their children. Would you be happy if your grandson was taken away?”

The regimental political commissar was overwhelmed when he saw the people who jumped out.

"When did I become jealous? It's not like I don't have grandchildren. It's just that something happened at this hospital yesterday, and everyone is siding with the hospital."

"Several families went in together to give birth today. My daughter-in-law has been in labor for so long and hasn't come out yet. This family is having their first child, and they even had twins at once."

"I'm just scared, aren't I? What if what happened yesterday happened to us? This is... this is reasonable suspicion, yes, reasonable suspicion."

The old woman recalled how the political commissar used to give them educational lessons, always nitpicking over the words, and she felt that she was being very reasonable.

"Just because you have reasonable suspicion, you can snatch someone's child? If someone suspects you, does that mean they have to snatch your child too?"

"Everything from yesterday has been investigated thoroughly. Blaming the hospital for having a girl is ridiculous; doctors don't have that kind of expertise." The political commissar was amused by her words.

"Go ahead and take it. I'm not that stingy. A little girl is hers to whomever wants her. If you want her, you can have her, but you'll have to compensate us with a child."

"Don't you have two? It would be good to switch with us. Think about it, if my child and yours are together, we'll have twins, a boy and a girl."

"Isn't this better than twins? It's also auspicious." The old woman's eyes lit up; she thought this method was excellent.

"You..." Not to mention Marshal Li and Qi Feng, even the political commissar and regimental commander on the other side were dumbfounded.

"Mother, what exactly do you want? I beg you, please behave yourself, please let me go."

Seeing his mother like this, Battalion Commander Shi, a grown man, became extremely anxious.

He thought that while he still had some merits, he should ask the army to arrange a civilian position for him so he could go back to his hometown.

Otherwise, if he keeps making a scene like this, he'll eventually end up with nothing, a humiliating and dejected return home.

"What nonsense are you talking about? I'm doing this for your own good. Don't you know? Your wife gave birth to another girl. How can you have only one son?"

The woman was surprised that her son would not side with her and would even contradict her. Seeing this, she immediately sat down and began her performance.

"My life has been so hard. I raised you from infancy, changing your diapers and feeding you. Now that you've become successful, you're starting to despise your mother. You're so unfilial, you..."

"Mother, are you trying to force us to die together?" The woman was interrupted by the woman who came out of the ward carrying a child before she could finish her performance.

"You little whore, who have the right to speak?" The old woman became arrogant as soon as she saw her daughter-in-law dare to scold her.

"God, look at this! Why don't you take her in? I've been married into your family for so many years and given birth to three children for you."

“I also gave you a grandson, what are you dissatisfied with? You have my husband’s allowance in your hands.”

"I sent it to my older brother's family back home. They earn work points and get paid at home, and they don't have to take care of their parents. They live a very comfortable life."

“We’re not satisfied with you clinging to our family and sucking our blood; you don’t even treat us like human beings and cause trouble in the army every day.”

“When my husband comes back from his mission, he has to go door to door to apologize to you. The leaders in the army come to talk to us every few days.”

"You still think you're so capable and arrogant. When I was pregnant with this, you heard about some folk remedy from somewhere and made me drink medicine every day."

"After I took that medicine, I got as fat as a ball. When I refused to take it, you made a scene, saying you didn't want me to have a grandson and that you wanted to ruin me."

“In the two years you’ve been here, I haven’t had a single day of peace. You’re unreasonable no matter where you go, and now you want to switch places with someone else’s child.”

"If you're so capable, why don't you go into battle and fight the enemy? Use your skills to argue with them and see who will give way to you."

"You're all talk and no action, and you only know how to use those tricks on your own family. My husband must have been incredibly unlucky to be born into your womb."

"I don't want to live anymore anyway, but I have to take you with me before I die. It'll be like getting rid of a menace. Come on, let's die together, let's all die."

The woman, holding her child, pulled the old woman on the ground towards the wall. Despite having just given birth, she was so strong that several people couldn't hold her back.
