By the time the sun set, the twenty best people had been selected.
"Two people will be assigned to a room. The next seven days will be spent learning etiquette. After passing the assessment, you can go before the Crown Prince and the other princes to be selected."
The housekeeper brought the people to the front of the palace and assigned them rooms.
The Jinyun sisters were naturally assigned to the same room, so Huai'an went to find Concubine Hui that night.
Chenxi and Qiu Yinong both knew about it, but neither of them said anything.
Six days passed quickly, and that night, Huai'an brought a few concubines and knocked on Jinyun's door.
"What are you doing here?" Jin Xin asked unhappily.
"We had a lot of problems before, but tomorrow is the official audition. After all, we've been together for a few days, and maybe we'll become sisters-in-law in the future."
"It's not good to keep hating each other. It was my sister who was wrong before. This is the flower powder my aunt gave me."
"It was prepared personally by the Imperial Medical Bureau. My aunt gave me two boxes just now, so I'm sending one to you as an apology."
As he spoke, he removed the beeswax sealing the porcelain box and opened the porcelain bottle in front of them.
Jinyun and the others saw with their own eyes that the moment she opened it, she fiddled with her nails and some powder fell inside.
Jin Xin even smelled some strange smells.
She took it in public, put it to her nose and sniffed it, very calmly and without making any movement.
"Sorry, thank you for your kindness, County Master Huaian. Did you add crabapple pollen to this?"
"Ah?" Huai'an was stunned. She didn't expect that she only sprinkled a little bit, but this ugly guy could smell it.
Jin Xin smiled and returned the item to Huai'an: "My sister is allergic to crabapple pollen. Thank you for your kindness, County Lady."
"Then I really don't know. Then I'll take it back." A trace of regret and cruelty flashed in Huai'an's eyes.
"No need to see me off." Jin Xin made a gesture of invitation.
Huai'an could only smile awkwardly and leave the room. When the door closed, the smile on her face instantly disappeared.
"County Lady, they are just pretentious. I don't mind. Please give it to me." The concubine's daughter from the Minister of Works' family said with a flattering look on her face.
Huai'an glanced at her and rolled his eyes: "You are worthy?"
After saying that, he took his things and turned back to his room.
"Bah, what are you showing off for!" The other ladies covered their mouths and laughed, and she also went back to her room angrily.
The next day, all the concubines got up early to prepare. There were special palace maids to dress them up. The Jinyun sisters took the things given by Qiu Yinong and prepared them for each other.
Huai'an deliberately let the palace maids go to their side last.
Unexpectedly, they had finished it early. Before Huai'an could get angry and think that it was Aunt Qiu again, the housekeeper came to take them to the Imperial Garden.
Jin Xin took off her veil at some point, and the other concubines didn't notice.
The emperor and the empress sat in the center, with Concubine Hui and Concubine Yu sitting on both sides.
The Crown Prince and three princes of marriageable age sat at the bottom.
"The daughter of Prince Yong'an, Princess Huaian... come forward." The eunuch called out the names of five beauties in succession.
Huai'an stepped forward excitedly, first greeted the emperor, empress, the queen and others, then lowered his head and waited excitedly.
"Look up..."
Huai'an slowly raised his head, his eyebrows and eyes were charming.
The prince glanced at it without any thoughts.
"It seems that the prince is not interested. If any of you like it, you can come forward with the sachet." Chenxi said gently.
The three princes saw that the crown prince was not interested, but the third prince took a liking to Huai'an. He called the palace maid, took the brocade bag, and walked towards Huai'an.
Huai'an was very anxious when he saw that the prince did not move.
Finally, the third prince stopped in front of her.
Huai'an had no choice but to reach out and take it. After all, the third prince was the only son left by the late imperial concubine.
It's better than refusing and offending the royal family, or getting nothing.
"Thank you, Third Prince." Huai'an bowed to the Third Prince.
The third prince smiled happily, reached out to help her up, looked at her gently, then smiled at her and turned back to his seat.
"Princess Huaian receives the sachet from the third prince. The emperor orally decrees that Princess Huaian be the third prince's consort."
"Nan Jinyun, the eldest daughter of the Marquis of Loyalty and Bravery, Nan Jinxin, the second daughter of the Minister of Rites... come forward!"
Huai'an was chosen to stay, while the other beauties withdrew.
When she saw Jinxin's fair and intact face, her face was full of disbelief.
How is that possible!
The prince glanced at his cousin. He knew that she had always been a beautiful girl, and his mother did not strongly insist that he choose his cousin.
He has always treated his cousin as his sister and there is no relationship between them.
When his eyes fell on Nan Jinxin's face, his heart began to beat involuntarily.
Qiu Yinong watched from the side, it was indeed a marriage destined by fate.
"If the Crown Prince likes something, he can go forward and give the jade ruyi to him. If not, the other two princes can give the sachet to him."
Chenxi also noticed it and smiled gently.
The prince immediately stood up, took the jade ruyi and walked towards the Nan sisters step by step.
Nan Jinyun had long known from her master that her sister and the prince were a destined marriage, and she had never thought of becoming the crown princess.
She just wants to be with her mother and marry a man who understands her and treats her well.
"In the Marquis of Loyalty and Bravery's Mansion, the second legitimate daughter will take over Yu Ruyi. The emperor has verbally ordered that Nan Jinxin will be the prince's principal wife!" The emperor was reluctant at first, but Chenxi said that this was also a proper way for the child to be raised by his niece, so the emperor agreed.
If he disagrees, Chenxi has a way to make him agree, and he is not afraid at all.
