The woman in front of him was Ye Linglong, Xu Xiwang's counselor.
Where is your third uncle?
Ye Linglong got straight to the point, her almond-shaped eyes scanning her surroundings.
"I thought he went looking for you, Teacher Ye. My third uncle has been out all day; I heard he's riding a giant eagle."
"What? He went out riding an eagle? Do you know where he went?"
“I heard from my mom that he went to see someone who is very important to him. I thought it was you, Teacher Ye.”
Xu Xiwang said slowly.
Third Uncle, Third Uncle, don't blame your nephew for tricking you.
Last time you threw me into that desolate wilderness and almost killed me. Don't blame your nephew for being heartless; you were the one who was unjust first!
"A very important person?"
Ye Linglong murmured to herself, "Could it be... that woman?"
"That's not right, she's been gone for so long."
Xu Xiwang looked at Ye Linglong's expression and guessed that she must know something.
"Teacher Ye, Ye Yuanran isn't you?"
Xu Xiwang shook her head, feigning disappointment, looking utterly regretful. "I thought only Teacher Ye was my third uncle's confidante. I never imagined he'd be having affairs outside the marriage. Sigh."
"Shut up!"
Ye Linglong glared fiercely at Xu Xiwang, "What nonsense are you spouting! Your third uncle and I..."
She stopped there, her face instantly turning bright red. "That's not what you think! You brat!"
"Teacher Ye, do you know something? Please tell me."
Seeing Xu Xiwang's expectant gaze, Ye Linglong's eyes showed some disappointment. She took a deep breath and said, "Your third uncle prides himself on being a womanizer. Although he has countless female confidantes, none of them have ever truly moved him."
"Look at me, I'm a perfect example."
Ye Linglong gave a bitter smile.
"Teacher Ye, I feel that Uncle San treats you quite differently."
"He only has that one person in his heart. Twenty years ago, that person appeared and disappeared, taking your third uncle's heart with him and causing him immense pain."
"My third uncle comes from an unparalleled family and his strength is unmatched in the world. Why can't the two of them stay together forever?"
That woman was not human.
"What!"
Xu Xiwang looked at Ye Linglong in shock.
"There are some things in this world that we cannot understand, so I dare not speculate."
"But that woman is not human. Who would believe it unless they saw it with their own eyes? That's all I can guess at."
"What was that woman's name?"
"Bai Zhiyao."
...
Changbai Mountain is covered in snow all year round, and the cold is biting. Its peaks are thousands of feet high and soar into the sky, as if they want to live as long as heaven and earth.
On a mountain peak, a handsome and refined man dressed in plain white robes stood quietly.
He lowered his eyes, slowly caressing the jade pendant, feeling the delicate, silky texture on his fingertips, his eyes filled with an overwhelming sadness and melancholy.
He slowly raised his head, parted his thin lips slightly, and said in a hoarse voice, "Zhiyao, I've come to find you."
A snow-white divine deer strolled leisurely on a distant mountain peak, a jade pendant hanging around its neck, emitting a warm and lustrous glow.
At the mountaintop, a beautiful figure stood quietly, her slender frame seemingly easily blown away by a gust of wind. Yet, wisps of white mist swirled around her, as if she had descended from the deepest abyss.
Xu Yifeng met his gaze, but it felt as if an eternity had passed between them.
One eye was clear and bright, as transparent as crystal.
One eye was dark and gloomy, deep and unfathomable.
Their gazes met, sending ripples through the air as if an electric current was coursing between them.
Xu Yifeng's figure suddenly appeared behind him.
"Zhiyao!" he called softly, reaching out to grab her slender shoulder, but felt a powerful rebound that knocked his hand away.
The moment Bai Zhiyao saw Xu Yifeng, a flicker of panic crossed her eyes. She turned around and mounted the divine deer.
They left quickly.
"Zhiyao, don't go! Let me explain!"
Xu Yifeng followed closely behind.
Bai Zhiyao ran wildly until she stopped at the edge of a lake. Looking at the emerald green water, she stopped and stood quietly on the shore.
"Zhiyao! Let me explain!"
Xu Yifeng's voice carried over from afar.
"Zhiyao, I love you, I love you!"
"I know, I've always known."
Bai Zhiyao spoke slowly, her voice calm and undisturbed.
"Then why did you leave without a word? Do you know how long I've searched for you? For twenty years, I haven't married; I've been searching for you constantly!"
Bai Zhiyao's speech slowed further, her voice tinged with sorrow, "I love you too, but we are different, human and demon, and ultimately we are destined to be apart. Why bother?"
"Zhiyao!"
"Go away, and don't come looking for me again."
After saying that, Bai Zhiyao turned around and stepped into the lake.
But all he saw was ripples spreading across the lake beneath his feet, yet it felt as if he were walking on flat ground.
At the end of the lake stands a hundred-foot-tall stone gate, with a stone tablet in front of it bearing four large characters: Kunlun Forbidden Land.
Seeing this, Xu Yifeng quickly flew over and stood in front of Bai Zhiyao.
His eyes were filled with unwavering determination, just as they had been more than twenty years ago when he first saw Bai Zhiyao.
He loved her more than anyone else!
"Get out of my way!"
Bai Zhiyao's tone remained icy cold.
"No way! Unless I die!"
