Chapter 126 Born Not to Smile
Xie Qingran's face turned cold as she stared at Xie Zhaoye without any expression.
This person definitely has some kind of problem with their brain and is completely clueless. If they were even slightly clear-headed, they wouldn't be like this.
Sure enough, Xie Zhaoye was stunned upon hearing this, scratching his head: "I just asked you to go see Mother, what... what are you trying to do?"
"What do you mean, what are you doing? Haven't I made myself clear enough?"
"However, she is my mother, so of course I will go to see her, but I want to go a little later."
Xie Qingran sighed, lowered her eyes, and replied faintly.
Upon hearing this, Xie Zhaoye was even more confused: "Since you want to go, why don't you go now?"
"Xie Zhaoye, I'll say it again, I don't want to cause trouble!"
"Xie Hanyue is with Mother right now. What would it mean if I went?"
Xie Qingran spat, thinking that this person was definitely not very bright.
Now, Xie Zhaoye roughly understood that Xie Qingran wanted to avoid Xie Hanyue. After thinking for a moment, he said very seriously, "I think you really misunderstood Yue'er. She is not the kind of vicious and arrogant person. In fact, if you get along well, you can become true sisters. If you are patient, you will find that she is actually a very, very good girl!"
Upon hearing this, Xie Qingran completely lost the will to talk to this person. She simply lowered her head, staring intently at the purse in her hand, and stopped speaking.
Xie Zhaoye looked at her aloof demeanor with a sense of helplessness, and then said, "Actually, it's because of this that everyone dislikes you."
"oh."
Xie Qingran responded and glanced at him, her eyes looking at him as if he were an idiot.
Xie Zhaoye didn't know what was wrong with him. He was a general who had been on the battlefield, but he felt uneasy under Xie Qingran's gaze. For a moment, he didn't even know what to say. Helpless, he could only reluctantly turn around and stride outside.
Yilin Garden.
Wang lay in bed, and Xie Hanyue fed her medicine in small sips, her eyes reddening with heartache. She whispered, "Mother, are you feeling better? How could things suddenly become so serious! What are the family physicians doing? How come they can't even take good care of you!"
"Silly girl, how can people not get sick when they eat grains and other foods?"
"Good child, don't worry, it's alright, it's just that you're anxious."
Wang gently tugged at the corners of her mouth, and seeing Xie Hanyue's red-rimmed eyes, she hurriedly reached out and gently touched her cheek.
"Good child, don't cry, it's okay."
After hearing this, Xie Hanyue sighed again.
"Mother, why are you so angry?"
"But what did the servants in the house do wrong?"
Xie Hanyue was puzzled and just stared at Wang Shi.
She always only cared about her own affairs, so she was unaware of the Xie family's stewardship.
Facing the child, Wang couldn't say too much, so she could only smile faintly and say, "It's nothing. In the end, it's all because I couldn't figure things out myself."
"Mother, you mustn't hide this from me."
Xie Hanyue gently held Wang's hand, looking at him with concern on her face.
Just then, Xie Zhaoye strode in, and seeing Wang Shi's pale face, he felt a pang of heartache: "Mother, are you feeling better?"
"Don't worry, you're not going to die!"
"Where is that unfilial daughter? Why isn't she here?"
Wang frowned, looking at Xie Zhaoye's empty back, her face terribly gloomy.
She said she would come to see her mother later, saying she didn't want to see Yue'er.
"Mother, what's wrong with this Qingran? She doesn't seem like one of our family members at all?"
They are clearly blood relatives, so why?
Why does Xie Qingran seem completely out of sync with them?
Upon hearing this, both Wang Shi and Xie Hanyue had strange expressions, especially Xie Hanyue.
Her eyes were red, and tears fell silently, one by one, making no sound. She looked utterly aggrieved.
Seeing her sobbing silently and looking so wronged, Xie Zhaoye felt another pang of heartache. He hurriedly stepped forward and gently coaxed her, "Don't cry, don't cry. Let her say whatever she wants. You're our precious treasure. Who would dare to treat you badly?"
"Brother, I don't know what to do anymore. I've tried everything to please her, but she just won't let me go." Xie Hanyue looked at Xie Zhaoye with a pitiful expression, "Does she have to kill me before she'll let me go?"
Upon hearing this, Madam Wang became anxious. She immediately thought of Xie Hanyue's suicide attempt last time, grabbed her hand, and frowned, saying, "You must never say such things again, understand?"
"Mother, don't worry, Yue'er won't do anything foolish."
"She can't bear to part with us."
"Moon, hurry up and answer your mother."
Xie Zhaoye spoke politely at this point, gently coaxing Xie Hanyue.
“Mother, brother is right. Even for your sake, I would not bear to die.”
"But, my sister..."
Xie Hanyue sighed helplessly as she spoke, then leaned against Xie Zhaoye's chest, whimpering pitifully.
Seeing this, Wang frowned deeply and sneered disdainfully, "I don't care what she thinks. In my heart, you are my good daughter. I only hate that you are not my biological daughter. It's really fate playing tricks on us."
As fate would have it, Xie Qingran walked in at that very moment.
She stood at the doorway, hearing every single word spoken. She stood there indifferently, staring at Wang Shi without uttering a sound.
When Wang looked up, she was startled to meet Xie Qingran's icy gaze. Her eyebrows furrowed tightly. "Why are you here?"
"My daughter heard that her mother was not feeling well, so she came to check on her."
"These are all medicinal herbs that the Duke of Zhenguo's mansion sent over before. Mother can take good care of her health."
Xie Qingran stepped forward, and Baozhu behind her placed the medicinal herbs she was holding on the table.
However, Xie Qingran did not get too close. She simply stood at a distance, looking indifferently at Wang Shi on the bed.
Even though she brought precious medicinal herbs under the guise of showing concern, Madam Wang still couldn't feel any care from Xie Qingran.
She frowned, looking at Xie Qingran with some displeasure: "Can't you even give me a nice look!"
"Yes, it's all my daughter's fault. She's never been one to smile." Xie Qingran didn't argue, but simply nodded and gave Wang a forced smile.
