Chapter 365: Hearts Gradually Approaching
Qin Huayun stayed like this and took care of her daily life every day.
I have to say, with her care, Xu Nuo felt a lot more relaxed.
After all, Bai Qiu Ning has her own family and her own children. She is busy every day and has limited energy. No matter how thoughtful she is, she is not as thoughtful as Qin Huayun.
She has nothing else to do all day long except reading parenting books, buying groceries, cooking, and accompanying her in activities.
As the weather gradually turned cooler, Lu Huaizheng's body recovered and he became more energetic.
Cheng Wanying offered to come and take care of Xu Nuo. She was more than five months pregnant. Winter was coming soon, and if it was windy and snowy, it would be a big trouble if something happened to Xu Nuo.
Xu Nuo said to Cheng Wanying, "Mom, you don't have to come over. Aunt Qin has been living here all the time."
When hearing these words, Cheng Wanying couldn't describe the feeling in her heart.
I feel happy, but also a little disappointed.
"Don't you need me?" she asked.
There was a hint of jealousy in her words. She treated Lu Chen as her own son and Xu Nuo as her own daughter-in-law.
But now that Qin Huayun's real mother-in-law has arrived, Xu Nuo no longer needs her, and she feels a little sad.
Xu Nuo smiled: "Mom, look at what you said, how could it be? Aunt Qin takes good care of me, you have to take care of Dad over there, and you have to take care of Yi Yi. If you come over, what about Yi Yi?"
Qin Huayun was stewing meat in the kitchen. When she heard voices outside, she quietly walked out and stood at the door to listen.
After hearing what Xu Nuo said, she could more or less guess what Cheng Wanying was thinking.
"Let me say a few words to her." Qin Huayun stepped forward, took the phone from Xu Nuo, and said to Cheng Wanying, "Just focus on taking care of your old man. You can rest assured that I will take care of Xu Nuo. I have one more thing to tell you. Xu Nuo has always treated you as her mother-in-law and called you mom, while I have always been Aunt Qin. Comparing them, you will know that you still have a higher status in her heart!"
Xu Nuo felt a little embarrassed after hearing this, but she didn't know how to respond for a moment.
She might as well just play deaf and dumb and pretend she didn't hear anything.
Cheng Wanying laughed twice on the other end of the phone: "Thank you for your hard work."
Qin Huayun snorted coldly: "Why is it so hard for me to take care of my daughter-in-law? Don't tell me that. If you are worried about your daughter-in-law, you can all come when she gives birth. I have to tell you, your daughter-in-law's belly is so big that I suspected it was twins. But guess what? I did a B-ultrasound today and it really is two!"
"Oh my God! Our Chenchen is so blessed. If we don't have another child, we will have two in this life!" Cheng Wanying also laughed.
"Of course not!" Qin Huayun said a few words to Cheng Wanying, and then put the phone back into Xu Nuo's hand, "Go on, my meat is almost done, I have to go check it out."
"Mom, this is my plan. Let Aunt Qin go back next month." Xu Nuo said.
After spending some time together, Xu Nuo felt that Qin Huayun was not that annoying.
But in the end, she still felt that it was better to be free by herself.
Moreover, facing her mother-in-law Cheng Wanying, she had to show some attitude.
"No!" Cheng Wanying refused immediately. "Don't do anything stupid! Just let her take care of you for a while. Winter is coming soon. I don't feel comfortable with you living alone. After all, she is your mother-in-law. She must have always felt that she owed Lu Chen. Now that Lu Chen is on the front line, let her take care of you and the child. This can be regarded as a way to make up for Lu Chen and also a comfort to herself."
"Okay." Xu Nuo agreed.
The days passed slowly, and the promised book was almost finished.
On the day when the first winter snow fell, the telegram that Lu Chen sent back from the front line finally arrived.
After learning that he was fine, Xu Nuo finally felt relieved.
He said there wasn't a war going on every day and things were a lot calmer there recently.
I guess he will be back in a few months.
Xu Nuo was full of joy and looked forward to that day.
She stroked her belly and whispered to the children, "I hope your daddy can catch up with you when you are born!"
At night, the snow got heavier and Xu Nuo couldn't sleep.
Her belly was too big, so it was not comfortable for her whether she was lying down or on her side.
Thinking that once the baby was born, she would not have time to continue writing the book at hand, she decided to work overtime for a few days and finish the book before the Spring Festival.
In the study, she was wrapped in a blanket, writing furiously, but the cold still seeped up from the soles of her feet, making her fingertips numb.
She breathed a sigh of relief, rubbed her hands, and was about to continue writing when she heard light footsteps outside the door.
The door was pushed open a crack, and Qin Huayun walked in with a bowl of steaming chicken soup.
"What time is it? Why are you still writing?" She frowned, her tone reproachful, but her movements were gentle. She placed the bowl carefully on the corner of the table, afraid that a drop of water would splash out and burn her.
"Why haven't you slept yet..." Xu Nuo was stunned.
"I got up at night and saw that the light in your study was still on, so I knew you were writing again. I might as well heat up the chicken soup for you to drink." Qin Huayun said, and handed over a flannel-wrapped hot water bottle, "Your hands are frozen red, and you don't even know how to rest."
Xu Nuo took it, and warmth instantly spread from his palm.
She looked down and saw that the chicken soup was clear and the excess oil had been skimmed off completely. It was obviously prepared specially for her as a pregnant woman, as they hoped she wouldn't get sick of it.
She took small sips, and the fragrant hot soup slid into her throat, dispelling the chill of the night.
Qin Huayun stood aside, watching her finish her drink before reaching out to take the empty bowl away. Before leaving, she said, "Go to bed early, don't overwork yourself."
"Okay, you should go to bed early too." Xu Nuo said.
The next morning, Xu Nuo opened the curtains and it was already white outside.
The accumulated snow bent the branches of the trees. The snow on the road was so thick that people had to move forward cautiously.
She frowned, but put on a thick coat and prepared to go out to work.
Qin Huayun's voice came from behind: "Don't go today."
"I have an operation scheduled today. The time cannot be changed at will." Xu Nuo said.
"I've already asked for leave for you." Qin Huayun interrupted her directly, her tone brooking no room for rebuttal, "The road is covered with snow, and the buses are slippery. Why are you here with a big belly?"
"Can--"
"What do you mean?" Qin Huayun snatched her bag away. "Your task now is to be safe and sound, and don't let me worry about you!"
Xu Nuo opened his mouth, but finally didn't insist.
She was about to call Ling Sheng to explain the situation, but Qin Huayun spoke up: "No need to call, he will take over your surgery, don't worry."
"Thank you, Aunt Qin." Xu Nuo smiled at her, "I'll listen to you."
Seeing her compromise, Qin Huayun's expression eased a little, and she turned to the kitchen to heat up some milk, still muttering, "It's snowing so heavily, if she falls or gets hurt, how am I going to explain to Lu Chen when he comes back?"
The next day, the newspaper headline read: "Bus loses control in snow and crashes into tree, 12 passengers injured and sent to hospital."
Qin Huayun slammed the newspaper on the coffee table and said nothing. She just glanced at Xu Nuo with a clear look in her eyes: See, it was right for you to listen to me, right?
Xu Nuo watched the news and felt a little scared. Although this bus might not be the one she wanted to take, she was still glad that she listened to the advice.
After all, if something happened to the child, she would find it difficult to explain to Lu Chen and would hate herself for the rest of her life.
This time, Xu Nuo was completely honest and felt that it was more reliable to listen to the old man.
The days have finally come to the end of the year, another Spring Festival is approaching, and the promised due date is just around the corner.
The Spring Festival was at the end of January, and her due date was originally scheduled for mid-February.
Lu Huaizheng and Cheng Wanying came all the way from their hometown to spend the New Year with her, and this time even Lu Yiyi was entrusted to her grandmother's care.
Cheng Wanying planned to go back after the Chinese New Year so that she could be with Xu Nuo during the birthing process.
When Qin Huayun saw them coming, she packed up and prepared to leave, at least to make room for the other family.
Cheng Wanying held her hand and thanked her sincerely: "Thanks to you for taking care of Nuonuo these days, why don't you stay and celebrate the New Year together."
She paused, then smiled and said, "Why not call Jian Rui, Jian Ya and Ling Sheng as well? It will be more lively with more people."
Qin Huayun thought about it and nodded in agreement.
On New Year's Eve, the kitchen was steaming hot. Several elders were busy preparing the New Year's Eve dinner, while young people gathered in the living room chatting and laughing.
Liao Hong came to the door carrying the freshly-cooked braised pork ribs. As soon as she entered the door, her eyes unconsciously glanced at Jian Rui.
Jian Rui immediately stood up to greet him, took the ribs and went to the kitchen: "Let's go, there are some freshly cooked meatballs at home, Aunt Cheng just asked me to bring them to you, and you just happened to come."
Liao Hong's face was full of peach blossoms and her eyes were full of smiles: "After dinner, let's go out for a walk together?"
"Okay." Jian Rui agreed readily.
Xu Nuo saw it and understood it.
Jian Ya came over and whispered, "I think they have a chance. Although Liao Hong is not very pretty, she really cares about my brother. I like her too. I plan to bring them together."
Xu Nuo smiled and nodded: "As long as they are willing, it will be done with a little matchmaking. But I think in this case, I don't think you need to match them up."
"I think so too." Ling Sheng interrupted.
Xu Nuo asked Jian Ya again, "What about you and Wu Yue?"
When Wu Yue was mentioned, Jian Ya's eyes softened instantly.
This time Wu Yue was transferred to the front line, and during the time they were apart, she missed him more and more.
She pursed her lips and smiled, and said firmly: "When he comes back, I will marry him."
"Okay." Xu Nuo said with a smile, "I'll be waiting to eat your wedding candy then."
She looked at Ling Sheng again, but Ling Sheng just shook his head, his expression indifferent: "No hurry, I don't want to settle, I'll wait until I meet the right one."
As they were talking and laughing, Cheng Wanying poked her head out from the kitchen and said, "Dinner is ready!"
The whole family sat around the dining table in a lively atmosphere, toasting each other and laughing constantly.
Everyone tried hard to make Xu Nuo happy, fearing that she would feel lonely because of Lu Chen's absence on this reunion night.
Halfway through the meal, Xu Nuo got up to go to the bathroom.
Just as I walked into the corridor, I suddenly heard a muffled "bang" in my stomach, like a ripe watermelon bursting.
Then, a warm liquid flowed down my legs.
She looked down at the water stains on the ground, her expression suddenly changed: "My water broke!"
