Bandaging
The mattress was soft and springy, and Wen Xubai didn't feel any pain when he fell on it. His face turned red, and he quickly pulled off the blanket and crawled inside, wrapping himself up tightly.
When Qi Zui returned carrying the first-aid kit, he saw this scene and couldn't help but chuckle, saying helplessly, "Why is it that every time I see you, you look like a 'caterpillar'?"
Remembering what happened when he last visited Qi Zui's house, Wen Xubai poked his head out and glared at him, then grabbed a pillow and threw it at Qi Zui!
"Hey!" Qi dodged nimbly, then gave him a smug look, revealing a set of big white teeth and a bright smile.
Wen Xubai was fuming but couldn't do anything about it, so he could only roll his eyes, curl up, and ignore him.
"Ah Che?" Qi Zui sat on the edge of the bed and put the first-aid kit in his hand on the bedside table.
Wen Xubai did not respond to him.
Qi Zui slowly leaned over him and whispered in his ear, "You're really ignoring me now?"
The hot breath on his ears was tingling and numb, and Wen Xubai was a little overwhelmed, but he was unwilling to give in so quickly. He subconsciously kicked the person on top of him away through the blanket.
"Ugh!" The person on top of him groaned, and the weight on him suddenly felt lighter.
Wen Xubai was startled.
He must have aimed his kick at Qi Zui's shoulder, and deliberately didn't use much force, so it shouldn't have hurt much. But when he heard that muffled groan, Wen Xubai couldn't help but be a little surprised.
Did I accidentally kick Qi Zui's wound?
After all, the two of them had just come out of the hospital, and each of them had countless wounds on their bodies. It was impossible for Wen Xubai to remember the location of all the wounds, big and small, on Qi Zui's body.
Feeling a little uneasy, Wen Xubai hesitated for a moment before crawling out of the covers.
Looking up, he saw Qi Zui clutching his chest, grinning triumphantly at him, "Finally decided to come out?"
Wen Xubai: "·······"
I shouldn't have felt sorry for him.
Wen Xubai decided to sacrifice the last pillow and threw it directly at Qi Zui's carefree and arrogant face!
"Hey! You shouldn't hit someone in the face!"
No sooner had he finished speaking than the pillow landed squarely on his face with a resounding "thud."
"Alright," Qi thought to himself, "I should have said it earlier next time."
But as time went on, it proved that it was useless for him to say it sooner.
The "battle" finally subsided, ending with the "Qi army" being defeated and pushed out of the room.
Wen Xubai put on his clothes, then opened the door, glanced indifferently at the person waiting outside, and said coldly, "Come in."
Qi Zui was immediately relieved and happily followed Wen Xubai in. As soon as he sat down, he grasped Wen Xubai's hand.
The veins on his pale palm were clearly visible, with a long, thin wound running through it, still oozing blood slightly.
Qi Zui felt pain just looking at it and couldn't help but frown.
Wen Xubai seemed indifferent, his palms were a little numb from being gripped so tightly, and he said expressionlessly, "It's just a minor injury, it'll heal in a bit."
"What minor injury? There are still shards of glass in this wound. Aren't you afraid of infection?" Qi Zui said with exasperation, taking out disinfectant and iodine from the first-aid kit. He carefully cleaned the wound with cotton swabs and tweezers, and then applied iodine.
Qi Zui struggled to apply the medicine with one hand, having to turn his body slightly. While applying the medicine, he said with concern, "Why did you smash the mirror? This time it was just a cut on your palm, but what about next time? What if you cut a vein???"
Wen Xubai thought for a moment and said calmly, "Cutting a vein won't kill you, but cutting an artery will."
Qi Zui choked for a moment, then retorted defiantly, "Whatever it is, it's on your body, so you can't cut it off!"
Wen Xubai couldn't help but laugh.
Qi Zui said with a black line on his face, "What are you laughing at? I'm serious."
"I know." Wen Xubai nodded, met Qi's most serious eyes, and smiled faintly, "It won't happen again."
"That's a good girl."
Qi nodded with satisfaction, then threw away the cotton swabs after applying the medicine. He then took out gauze from the box and bandaged the wound while saying, "I'm not a doctor, and my technique isn't professional. I'll take you to the hospital tomorrow during the day to have Liu Mo re-bandage it."
Wen Xubai was about to say that there was no need to make a big deal out of it, as long as there was no bleeding, but when he saw that Qi Zui's chest was already soaked with plaster, he suddenly stopped talking, changed the subject, and calmly said, "Okay."
"OK, all done!" Qi Zui had no idea what Wen Xubai was thinking. After knocking off the last butterfly, he happily raised Wen Xubai's hand, his eyes full of admiration for his masterpiece.
Wen Xubai gave a thumbs up and praised, "Not bad, you can consider switching to medicine in the future."
Qi Zui was taken aback upon hearing this, suddenly remembering his unfinished studies.
After returning to the Wen family, he was sent abroad by Wen Tingyi for further studies. Unable to speak the language and unfamiliar with the place, Qi Zui faced mountains of studies every day and was watched by a group of tutors. He was so distressed that he almost wanted to bite his tongue and commit suicide.
The thought of all that jumbled numbers and letters made his face turn deathly pale, and he shook his head in horror: "Then... then forget it."
"I might as well go back to working at the noodle shop..." Qi Zui lay down on the big bed, bounced up twice, then calmed down, revealing a look of utter despair.
Wen Xubai lay down next to him and poked his cheek, "Isn't it fun abroad?"
"What's so fun about it?" Qi Zui said with a pained expression. "I don't know anyone, and I'm stared at by a bunch of people every day. I can't eat or sleep properly. Every day when I open my eyes, I have to face a bunch of things that I don't understand. Look how bad it's done to me, even my skin is in bad shape."
Qi Zui pulled Wen Xubai's hand to his face, and the touch was indeed a bit rough.
Stroking the rough stubble on his skin, Wen Xubai slowly lowered his head and said with pity, "You've lost weight..."
"Right?" Qi Zui opened his eyes. "You have no idea how hard it is to swallow British food. They can make sweet things bitter and salty things sour! They have to bake perfectly good bread until it's rock hard. One bite and my teeth almost flew off!"
"Oh right! And that 'open' stuff you mentioned before, that British stuff is neither sweet nor salty, it's so cloyingly sweet, you can only drink two sips at most, any more and you'll throw up everywhere!..."
Listening to his rambling complaints about his study abroad life, Wen Xubai didn't find it annoying at all; instead, he felt a peace he had never felt before.
Then he suddenly asked, "Which tastes better, mine or the local ones?"
Upon hearing this, Qi Zui's smile suddenly froze, and a strange expression appeared on his face.
This question is like your girlfriend pointing at someone and asking you: "Who's prettier, me or that beautiful girl?" It's a deadly question.
His thoughts drifted back to the bowl of dark soup that Wen Xubai had presented to him many years ago. It was as if Pan Jinlian, holding a bowl of medicine, had approached him, this "Wu Dalang," with a bewitching smile, saying, "Dalang~ drink it~"
Qi Zui suddenly jolted awake, snapping back to reality. He saw Wen Xubai's puzzled face and swallowed hard, finally deciding, "Of...of course it's your cooking that's better..."
Never mind, even if Wen Xubai is a "Pan Jinlian" and you want to drug him, or even if Wen Xubai is a "Su Daji" and you want to destroy a country, he would still agree without hesitation!
Seeing Qi Zuiqing's face turn pale and then red, Wen Xubai chuckled and gave him a peck on the lips as a reward, saying with a smile, "Then I'll make it for you again next time."
"Lust is truly a double-edged sword," Qi thought to himself.
Wen Xubai is the sharpest "beauty knife." He lures people into a "gentle embrace" without their knowledge, and then, when they are completely absorbed, delivers a fatal blow!
Qi Zui chuckled awkwardly, "Okay..."
Tears were streaming down his face. Qi Zui wiped his face hard, thinking that even if Wen Xubai really held a knife to his neck right now, he probably wouldn't resist.
He's been using you!
For some reason, Qi Zui suddenly remembered what Liu Mo had said to him in the hospital.
The ceiling lights were switched to a warm glow, making the room appear somewhat dim. The interplay of light and shadow enveloped the two of them in a fluctuating light and shadow.
Qi stared intently at Wen Xubai's face, then pinched his chin and kissed him again.
Wen Xubai didn't dodge; he simply closed his eyes and quietly endured it.
Her vulnerable neck was suddenly exposed, laid bare to Qi Zui without any defense.
Qi Zui's eyes darkened, and his heart suddenly beat faster and faster before slowly returning to calm. It was as if something chaotic had become clear at this moment, pointing directly to his heart.
Qi Zui suddenly laughed.
It's okay, he's willing.
Wen Xubai opened her eyes, still misty with tears in her eyes, and looked at him: "What's wrong?"
"It's nothing." Qi Zui rubbed Wen Xu's fluffy white head, then kissed him on the forehead and smiled, "I just figured out some things."
Wen Xubai lowered his eyes.
Qi Zui had never been wary of him before, nor had he ever lied to him. Although the world had changed and both their hearts and their relationship had changed a lot, he still firmly believed that Qi Zui was sincere towards him.
After all, no matter how well a hypocrite pretends, it's impossible for them to repeatedly disregard their own safety and rush into danger to save him.
Since Qi Zui didn't say it directly, it means now is not the right time.
So Wen Xubai didn't ask any further questions, but simply leaned quietly against Qi Zui's chest, feeling his vigorous heartbeat.
Nothing else matters anymore—money, power, status—everything can be thrown to the back of one's mind.
After a long pause, Wen Xubai finally said, "Qi Zui, be careful of Ruan Xing."
Under the dim light of the desk lamp, Wen Xubai's gaze gradually darkened.
3201250.50
That was Zhou Yi's settlement amount.
Qi gently touched his arm and whispered, "I know, don't worry."
Suddenly, the desk lamp was turned off by a pair of large hands. Qi Zui brought a clean pillow from another room and, like coaxing a child, patted Wen Xubai's back through the blanket, saying, "Good boy, go to sleep."
As drowsiness washed over him, Wen Xubai hugged Qi Zui's waist, the scent of Qi Zui lingering in his nostrils, and drifted off to sleep.
