Little Bear
"Three days later, take the Linyang Ferry. Someone will meet you when you arrive at the shore."
Wen Xubai calmly put down his phone, just in time to see Qi Zui put a piece of char siu into his bowl.
"Work message?" Qi Zui asked, puzzled.
"Mm." Wen Xubai nodded and silently picked up a piece of noodles and put it in his mouth.
"Is it good?" Qi Zui asked, mixing the noodles as he looked at him.
Wen Xubai pouted, "It's not as good as yours."
Qi Zui immediately became smug, "Then I'll cook it for you another day when we get back."
Wen Xubai smiled helplessly, but then suddenly remembered that he hadn't eaten Qi Zui's noodles in a long time.
Although the two lived together, Wen Xubai was usually very busy with work and would get home very late, even spending most of his weekends at the company. Qi Zui also shuttled between the school and the noodle shop every day, only able to spend some time with Wen Xubai in the evenings. During the day, they were too busy to even call each other, at most exchanging a couple of messages to check if the other had eaten on time.
During the rare daytime hours, Wen Xubai would urge Qi Zui to do practice problems. To save time, they would order takeout for meals and rarely cooked.
These days, having a whole day to "date" is truly a rare treat.
The man, feeling a little smug after receiving the praise, couldn't help but hum a tune while mixing his noodles.
Wen Xubai found it amusing and asked him, "Are you that happy?"
"Of course I'm happy!" Qi Zui said with a bright smile. "You have no idea how bored I've been, staying indoors all day. I'm practically growing mushrooms!"
At this point, he suddenly realized what was going on and asked, "Huh? Isn't your company busy lately? Why are you suddenly on holiday?"
Qi Zui has always been dissatisfied with Wen Xubai's company. Every day, rain or shine, regardless of whether it's rest time or not, a single phone call can summon Wen Xubai away, making Qi Zui wonder if Wen Xubai is the only useful employee in their company.
Qi Zui even exclaimed, "Even cattle and horses shouldn't be exploited like this!!" Along with the growing discontent, there was also the idea of Wen Xubai resigning.
Wen Xubai knew his worries, but he couldn't explain much. Usually, he could only offer a few words of comfort to get by. But now, after thinking about it, he decided to say, "I need to go on a business trip for a while in a few days. I may not be able to come back for a period of time, so the company has given me a few days off in advance."
After saying that, he casually took a bite of noodles, but found them tasteless.
"A business trip?" Qi Zui was indeed somewhat surprised. "When?"
"Three days later," Wen Xubai said calmly.
"So sudden???" Qi Zui asked, somewhat displeased. "How long will it take?"
Wen Xubai poked at the noodles in his bowl, avoiding looking into the other person's eyes, "I don't know yet, but it should be at least half a month."
"Huh?" Qi Zui let out a long sigh, pursing his lips. "Why did they have to send you..."
Wen Xubai burst out laughing.
Qi Zui knew that what he said was wrong. After all, Wen Xubai was a company employee, and he couldn't refuse when assigned a task. He just felt sorry for him because he hadn't been able to rest for more than ten days.
Moreover, we haven't seen each other for over ten days, and I don't even know if we'll have time to call...
Qi Zui suddenly felt a little reluctant to leave...
Wen Xubai understood, and his gaze gradually darkened.
After a long pause, he smiled slightly, as if joking, and said, "It's okay, I'm only leaving for a while, I'll be back soon."
"Is ten days a short time?" Qi Zui said resentfully.
The sorrow in his eyes was so intense that it burned Wen Xubai.
Wen Xubai hadn't expected that Qi Zui's reluctance to part with him was so deep.
Having lost his appetite, Qi Zui picked up the noodles and put them down again. After hesitating for a moment, he finally propped his chin up and said to him, "A-Che, if you're too tired, just quit your job. I can really support both of us."
Qi Zui's gaze was deep, and his expression was very serious; it was clear at a glance that he wasn't joking.
Wen Xubai had anticipated this outcome and said helplessly, "What, are you going to help someone else move goods again?"
"It's not about moving goods..." Qi muttered subconsciously.
He spoke very softly, but Wen Xubai still heard him.
Sensing the implication in Qi Zui's words, Wen Xubai frowned immediately. "What do you mean? Have you been secretly taking on some work again?"
Qi Zui then realized he had let something slip and quickly shook his head, but it was too late.
Seeing the anger in Wen Xubai's eyes growing deeper, Qi Zui quickly explained, "No, no, it's definitely not the kind of job you're thinking of. It's just moving plates, it's not dangerous at all!"
Wen Xubai's anger subsided slightly, but his expression remained serious as he questioned, "Really?"
"Really!" Qi Zui then made a gesture of raising two fingers to the sky. "I swear!"
Wen Xubai understood he couldn't control him. Rather than letting him do dangerous things behind his back, it was better to allow him to earn some money within his capabilities...
He sighed, lowered his hand from Qi Zui, and said helplessly, "Don't let it interfere with class."
Although this course isn't as important now...
Qi knew that this meant he agreed, so he quickly said with bright eyes, "Don't worry, I'll only work for a few days. This job pays a lot, and I won't go back after I finish it."
Can you earn a lot of money moving plates?
Wen Xubai asked with some concern, "You haven't been scammed, have you?"
"No way!" Qi Zui was very certain.
Wen Xubai: "·······"
Alright. Qi Zui is, after all, an adult, and he believes he still has the ability to discern this much.
After finishing their meal, the two strolled around the streets and saw a pair of chubby and cute bear dolls in a shopping mall. One was brown and the other was white, sitting side by side in front of the glass window.
At first glance, Wen Xubai was completely captivated.
He looks a lot like Qi Zui.
So when the shop bell rang, Wen Xubai walked into the doll shop amidst Qi Zui's puzzled gaze. When it rang again, Wen Xubai emerged carrying two smiling teddy bears.
Qi Zui: "???"
Wen Xubai shoved the black one into his arms, raising an eyebrow and saying, "It really does look alike."
Even the curve of their lips is very similar.
Qi Zui: "???"
He looked at Wen Xubai, who was holding a white teddy bear, and saw that Wen Xubai had the same serious expression. He couldn't help but pinch Wen Xubai's cheek and said with a smile, "They really do look alike."
Wen Xubai's cheeks felt very soft and his skin was smooth, but he had a little little flesh, so I didn't dare to pull too hard when I pulled.
Before Wen Xubai could get angry, Qi Zui snatched the teddy bear from his arms and swapped it with his own.
Holding up the white teddy bear in his hand, Qi Zui grinned and said, "I want this one."
Wen Xubai glared at him angrily, then looked down and saw the brown bear smiling at him in his arms. The bear's smile, which was originally cute and adorable, now looked a bit smug. He immediately slapped the bear's head lightly and glared at Qi Zui.
Qi Zui's expression instantly turned to surprise. She grabbed the white teddy bear's hand, placed it against her chest, took a few steps back, and looked distressed. "Ah, you hit her husband, it will be sad..."
As she spoke, she lowered the white bear's head slightly.
From Wen Xubai's perspective, the bear's expression with its downturned lips actually looked a bit sad.
Wen Xubai was stunned and fell silent.
When he saw the smug smile in Qi Zui's eyes, he suddenly realized what was happening. He angrily kicked Qi Zui and said embarrassedly, "Who's your husband!"
Qi Zui grinned and jumped up, quickly grabbing the teddy bear and running away, not forgetting to turn back and shout with a smile, "That's exactly right!"
Wen Xubai's face immediately darkened, and he immediately started a "chase" in the square.
The competition ended with Wen Xubai successfully catching up with Qi Zui and giving him several sharp raps on the head.
Both of them were exhausted when they got home. Qi Zui collapsed onto the sofa, panting, "Wait... how come I never knew you could run so fast..."
Wen Xubai rolled his eyes at him. He was covered in sweat and felt sticky and uncomfortable, so he went straight into the bathroom to take a shower.
When they came out drying their hair, they saw that the two people's down jackets on the sofa were neatly folded and placed together, and the two little bears were placed head to head together, with a "blanket" thoughtfully covering them, showing their close relationship.
Touched by something soft in his heart, Wen Xubai noticed that the two little bears seemed much happier.
He couldn't help but reach out and touch the head of the brown bear. The soft touch made Wen Xubai's lips curl into a smile.
"What?! You actually spied on their married life?!"
A sudden exclamation came from behind him, and Wen Xubai abruptly withdrew his hand as if his secret had been discovered.
Turning my head, I saw Qi Zui, his hair still dripping wet, shirtless, holding a towel to cover his eyes.
Wen Xubai's face immediately turned red again. He went over and pulled the towel off Qi Zui, angrily saying, "What nonsense are you talking about!"
Unexpectedly, the floor, still wet with water droplets, was too slippery, and Wen Xubai stumbled, his forehead colliding directly with Qi's most muscular chest, leaving a soft, fleshy spot.
Qi Zui didn't expect him to rush over suddenly, so he hurriedly grabbed Wen Xubai's waist to help him steady himself. The towel in his hand was thrown out unconsciously, and it happened to cover the faces of the two little bears, completely obscuring their expressions.
Both of them were stunned.
The spot where he had just vented his anger suddenly started to throb again. Qi Zui's eyes were deep. Remembering Wen Xubai's words about leaving for half a month, he directly hoisted Wen Xubai onto his shoulder and walked towards the bedroom.
With his feet suddenly leaving the ground and a feeling of weightlessness washing over him, Wen Xubai was startled and instinctively struggled, "Qi Zui, put me down!"
But then a man's loud voice chuckled in her ear, "They live their married life, it's time for us to live ours!"
The posture was somewhat unsettling, and the person who spoke those words had an ulterior motive, which Wen Xubai naturally understood, and he immediately blushed and said, "Qi Zui!!!"
