"You're usually so busy, you probably don't have time to deal with an old man like me."
Ruan Xing raised an eyebrow and gave the beautiful woman next to him a meaningful look.
The woman didn't shy away; she threw him a flirtatious glance and leaned smugly into Qi Zui's arms.
Qi Zui chuckled upon hearing this, and without any hesitation, he waved his hand and put his arm around the beautiful woman, saying, "Yes, after all, I'm young and full of energy, and I need a place to vent, don't I?"
He then patted the woman's waist.
The woman's eyes instantly softened with desire, and she lightly patted Qi Zui's chest, saying playfully, "Ugh~ So many people are watching~"
"What's there to be afraid of?" Qi Zui smiled and leaned closer to the woman, their noses almost touching.
Until Wen Tingyi's warning voice came: "Alright, don't you even know where you are?"
The man paused, glanced at Wen Tingyi, and said indifferently, "Oh, then I'll go out."
Without waiting for Wen Tingyi's reaction, he turned around, put his arm around the woman's waist, and walked towards the door. They joked and teased each other as they walked, their backs showing great intimacy.
Wen Tingyi was so angry that he almost fainted. Fortunately, Wen Xushi reacted quickly and calmed him down, preventing him from passing out.
Wen Tingyi's hands trembled with anger. Pointing in the direction Qi Zui had left, he roared, "These two... really..."
"Father, please calm down. Don't get upset and harm your health."
Wen Xushi whispered a word of advice from the side, and winked at the family doctor who had been following behind him.
The doctor realized what was happening and quickly ran over, pushing Wen Tingyi, who was in so much heart pain from anger, away.
After the farce, many people had noticed the commotion and were puzzled when they saw Old Master Wen being taken away suddenly.
When some people who were on good terms with the Wen family came to inquire, Wen Xushi politely dismissed them with the excuse that "my father is unwell."
Ruan Xing glanced at Wen Xubai and said helplessly, "Shall we go?"
Wen Xubai's eyes were deep as he whispered, "I'm sorry."
He knew he had acted impulsively, so he lowered his eyes.
"It's nothing." Ruan Xing shrugged. "If I were you, I probably would have torn that person to pieces by now."
Wen Xubai was a little surprised.
Before he could speak, a voice behind him said anxiously, "Wait a minute!"
Hearing the voice, Wen Xubai turned around and saw Wen Xushi calming the crowd down. He jogged over, looked at him anxiously, and said, "Young...Young Master Ruan, can we talk?"
Wen Xubai said indifferently, "I have nothing to talk to you about."
After saying that, he turned around to leave, but someone suddenly grabbed his wrist!
Wen Xushi said anxiously, "Xiaobai, there was a misunderstanding about what happened back then. It was all an accident, not what you think. I..."
They were near the gate, far from the densest crowd, but there were still quite a few people around. Wen Xubai was somewhat surprised by Wen Xushi's boldness, but after hesitating for a few seconds, he resolutely shook off his hand.
Looking at Wen Xushi's stunned expression, Wen Xubai said coldly, "What about Lin Xi's death? Was that also an accident?"
Wen Xushi froze on the spot, his gaze, which had been as gentle as autumn water, suddenly froze.
He asked incredulously, "What?"
He had initially thought Wen Xubai was only blaming him for not rescuing him when the cruise ship exploded years ago, and for not seeking him out all these years. He never imagined Wen Xubai knew even this much...
The mask that had been worn for years crumbled in an instant, revealing the darkest part of his heart as well.
Wen Xushi's hand, which was suspended in mid-air, trembled for a second. "How did you know?"
Wen Xubai noticed every subtle change in him, and his last glimmer of hope was shattered. Wen Xubai couldn't help but let out a cold laugh, "It really is you..."
It is both a mockery of Wen Xushi and a satire of himself.
The newspaper Jiang Hui gave him didn't actually provide any specific clues about the murderer. Furthermore, considering the timeline, Wen Xushi was only a few years old at the time and couldn't possibly have represented the Wen family at the charity event.
Therefore, Wen Xubai investigated all the people in the Wen family who had participated in heart disease-related activities over the past fifteen years. Among them, only a small number were under Wen Xushi's supervision, while the majority were subordinates of the Wen family.
But unexpectedly... with just a simple trick, they were able to know everything.
Wen Xubai found it increasingly amusing, and couldn't help but cover his forehead, his heart sinking into an ice cave.
Even if he didn't want to admit it, the pain in his heart had already given him the answer.
Two souls, both buried deep in the earth and suffering greatly, clung to each other tightly. One grasped at the last glimmer of hope, desperately trying to break free of the soil, like a drowning person grasping at a straw, even if it meant being covered in wounds.
The other, however, had long since rotted away in the long, gloomy years, even taking root and sprouting downwards, becoming one with the darkness. Yet, it feigned hope, pushing the other seed out of the soil while secretly severing all its roots to make room for its own precious growth…
The most ridiculous thing is that the seed that yearned for light had truly trusted and relied on another seed wholeheartedly throughout the long years, so much so that only now... has it finally discovered its true nature.
Wen Xushi wanted to pull Wen Xubai back, but Ruan Xing stopped him with a shrug.
Ruan Xing looked at Wen Xushi indifferently and said, word by word, "Does Second Young Master Wen have anything to say to your son? Just tell me directly. Your son is not feeling well and needs to go back to rest."
As he spoke, Ruan Xing turned his head to Wen Xubai and said, "You should go back first."
Wen Xubai nodded, ignoring Wen Xushi's calls to stay, and walked towards the gate without looking back.
They walked faster and faster until they reached the gate, where the Ruan family's car was already waiting.
I still feel a bit stuffy in my chest, probably because I drank too much alcohol and my mind isn't quite clear.
Wen Xubai pressed the car door handle, shook his head violently, then pulled the door open and got in.
Leaning against the car seat, Wen Xubai closed his eyes, rubbed his temples wearily, and said in a loud voice, "Back to the Ruan family."
"ah--"
A sharp cry of surprise instantly shattered his thoughts.
Wen Xubai was startled and opened his eyes!
The scene of the woman, her shoulders half-exposed, hurriedly grabbing her clothes as she got off the man instantly came into view. Qi Zui propped his head up, looking at him with deep eyes.
Wen Xubai was startled and finally realized that he had gotten into the wrong car. He quickly apologized and reached out to push open the Ferrari's door.
The moment my hand touched the button, it was suddenly pressed down by a pair of large hands!
With a woman's gasp, the car door slammed shut, and then a "click" was heard as the door was locked.
Wen Xubai's pupils widened instantly. He tried to reach for the driver's seat to unlock it, but the man immediately grabbed his waist and pressed him firmly against his lap, making him unable to move!
"Wen Xuchi!" Wen Xubai exclaimed in alarm.
The man's handsome face loomed large before him. The woman was no longer in the car; only the lingering scent of her perfume remained.
A sudden pang of sadness welled up in Wen Xubai's heart, and he struggled even harder, but he was no match for the man's tall frame and was subdued in no time.
Qi Zui grabbed his wrist with one hand and placed the other on his crotch, pinching a certain spot on his lower back with an unquestionable air, and whispered, "What, you scared away my female companion, shouldn't you make it up to me in some way?"
Wen Xubai's body went limp, his voice trembling slightly with fear. He closed his eyes tightly and said, "I'll go find her for you. Or... whatever kind you like, I'll find you another one..."
"What kind of person do I like?" Qi Zui sneered, grabbed Wen Xubai's chin, and forced him to turn his face towards him.
The man unconsciously narrowed his eyes, his voice hoarse: "Isn't Young Master Ruan the one who knows best?"
Wen Xubai was stunned.
"Young Master..." Finally, the driver in the front seat couldn't hold back any longer. He glanced at the rearview mirror and asked cautiously, "What is it now...?"
"Walk!"
At his command, Wen Xubai finally opened his eyes and exclaimed in shock, "Are you crazy?! Ruan Xing is still waiting for me outside!"
Upon hearing the name "Ruan Xing," Qi Zui's eyes darkened further. He slapped him hard and warned, "Shut up. If you mention another man in front of me again, I'll take care of you right now."
Sensing the threatening atmosphere, Wen Xubai finally shut up, looking at the familiar yet unfamiliar man in front of him, feeling extremely uneasy.
Qi Zui has changed too much over the years. He is not as cheerful as before, and his temper has worsened. He doesn't know if men really keep their word, but he can't take that risk.
Outside are young masters and ladies from various families, as well as paparazzi and the media. If the two of them make too much noise and are photographed by the media, it will be bad for their reputations.
So Wen Xubai could only keep quiet and remained restless the whole way.
Wen Xubai moved with difficulty and said nervously, "You...you let me sit over there."
Qi Zui merely raised an eyebrow, not letting go. "What? Trying to escape while I'm not looking?"
"I didn't!" Wen Xubai retorted, feeling increasingly unbearable. He could only bite his lip and stammer, "I...I won't run away."
"You...you...let me go first..."
The man seemed oblivious, as if he were thoroughly enjoying the restrained expression on his face.
As Wen Xubai ran his fingertips across the man's cheek, he saw a sly glint in the man's eyes and a bad feeling suddenly welled up inside him.
Sure enough, the next second, a wicked smile curled at the corner of the man's mouth, and he whispered in his ear, word by word, "I-no-"
He even suddenly exerted force with his palm, pressing their bodies together even more closely.
"ah!"
Caught off guard, Wen Xubai suddenly cried out in surprise, then remembered that the driver was still there and quickly covered his mouth.
The driver in front kept his eyes fixed straight ahead, wishing he could turn blind and deaf.
