Chapter 128
Jiaming nodded.
The young man said to him, "I hope you can be the national teacher. Anyway, I see that given the current situation, we cannot completely overthrow the corrupt system in a short period of time. Even if we are willing, those aristocratic families will not be willing. Even if those aristocratic families are willing, the old ministers of the previous dynasty will not agree. If even they agree, we will have to consider the local big landlords."
He sneered and said, "Don't underestimate those landlords. Although they are not in a prosperous place, they are not easy to deal with. If you really take a look, you will be shocked. What kind of people can be so heartless and plunder countless people's money to build such a big house, such a beautiful scenery, and such good food.
And the many servants who pride themselves on the mere fact that they had ever had the possibility of entering it.
I don't understand how they can be so careless, handing over their own things as if they belong to someone else, and being amazed when they see them in someone else's home, and would rather take pride in someone else's things than to find a way to deal with the damned things themselves."
Jiaming smiled and said, "What you said reminds me of a story in a book."
The young man was a little curious: "What's this story? You remember it now!"
Jiaming said: "A man went to a store and stole someone's shoes, then went to a store and stole someone's bread, then went to a store and stole someone's clothes, and finally went to a jewelry store and stole a bunch of expensive gold and silver jewelry. He was quickly caught, but no one could find the things he took away, no matter how hard they looked.
When the authorities wanted to interrogate him, they asked him, why did you steal?
He said, I'm not stealing, I'm taking what's mine.
The official asked, "You are talking nonsense. How could you possibly take your own things from someone else's shop?" You are clearly making a fuss! How dare you disturb the court? I will give you 20 lashes first!"
Even after being beaten, he still refused to change his words. Someone nearby whispered to the official that maybe this man had a brain disease and was corrupted from the beginning, not just after entering our door. He could go out and ask someone. If others are the same, then that's good. This man has gone crazy a long time ago, a madman, and there is no need to worry about him.
Because when it comes to a madman, the official has plenty of power. He can kill him or let him go, and no one will say anything to him.
However, the official said with a sad face, "We haven't found the things yet. Even if we kill him, it will be useless. How can we afford to pay for it? Even if it is not our fault, it has fallen into our hands now and we can't get rid of it. When the time comes, the mud of hell will stick to our trousers and legs, and we can't wash it off. If we are not evil, we will be witches."
Menzi grumbled, saying that we didn't take the things and we didn't use them, so why should we compensate them?
The official said, "You don't understand. It's because we didn't take the things that this matter is difficult to handle. If we took it, it doesn't matter whether we return it or not. If someone else took it, it would be a minor mistake under our rule. They will catch us by the tail and scold us. It's okay to just scold us, but if a fight breaks out, what should we do? It's not that we can't win, it's that we can't fight."
If we beat them and hurt them, it would be our fault. If we were hurt, we wouldn't be able to do anything. If we didn't beat them, that would be the best, but it might not be the case. They won't necessarily follow our wishes. If they cared about us, they wouldn't blame us for this. They are looking for us now because they want us to show our attitude.
But who can make a madman give an attitude that meets his requirements?
The official couldn't do it, and neither could his men. They all sighed and continued to interrogate their subordinates.
Mr. Guan asked, why do you think so?
The man said, because bakers have no soft and fresh bread to eat, shoemakers have no shoes that are not broken, clothes makers have no clothes that are not washed and tattered, and jewellery makers are not covered in gold and silver, this world is unfair, and this country has been sick for a long time. I urgently need to do something, I need to do something.
Maybe I cannot change everything, but I can change myself. As you can see, I am here now, proving that what I do is still valuable. At least, you know nothing and can continue to be foolish and ignorant, but I don’t have to be like that. I have saved myself from the evil sea of suffering, I have escaped from the pain and joy of the world, and God is smiling mercifully behind me.
God is watching me, and I am happy about that.
The official said to the doorman, "Did you see that? He has gone mad and now has become a Christian."
Menzi said that if he was really a Christian, it would not be a bad thing, and he could pull out the radish and bring out the mud, and even put a lot of people in jail, so he could finally explain himself.
Mr. Guan said that it would be great if that were the case. He didn't even tell me where his things were hidden, so if you asked him where they were, he would not be able to tell you.
The doorman said, "Oh, who cares if he says it or not? He is here with us. We will tell the outside world that he has admitted it. Others don't know. Let someone write a piece of paper and list his crimes. Hold him down and make him put his fingerprints on it. That means he has admitted it. There are witnesses and physical evidence. It's great. He can't turn over. What are you afraid of?"
Mr. Guan looked at him and smiled, "Good boy, you have thought it through carefully. So you know all this. If I had known that you knew so much, I would not have worried about this matter."
The people below close their eyes and rest, knowing that they don't care what they say or think, so they don't waste any of their energy.
The people above him did not let him off easily. The official slammed the table and asked him, "You are talking nonsense, do you know that? There is no God in the world. Even if there is, it has never appeared. If you have the ability, make it appear in front of me, then I will believe it."
The man did not jump up like an enraged lion, but replied calmly, It doesn’t matter, God doesn’t care about those who don’t believe in Him, God doesn’t care about those who don’t exist, God doesn’t care about those who are full of sin, God doesn’t care about those who deserve to die, God doesn’t care…
Mr. Guan blinked his eyes and thought that this man was indeed a madman. He was just wondering why this man didn't get emotional like other fanatics when they heard others mention that their gods were bad or didn't exist. Those fanatics were more or less angry, but the one in front of him didn't. He was definitely not an authentic believer. Maybe it was just a difference in doctrine, then there would be no problem.
He said, whether you admit it or not, I will definitely get this done. It is useless if you are unwilling. Thank you for your help. Just sign your name and put your stamp on it. It will be your death sentence someday and the matter will be over. You can go to see your God.
The official waved his hand and asked the doorman to take paper and pen to the man. The man closed his eyes and did nothing. Everyone looked at each other and then at the official. The official sighed and said, since he is so ignorant, just hold him down and make him press a red handprint on the paper first, and then talk.
The man struggled, but a group of people came over and he could not struggle. He could only lie on the ground silently, muttering to himself. When the doormen went to listen, they heard him repeating the same words, "God is watching me, God is watching me, God is watching me."
Menzi shivered and felt a little cold. He touched his arms and found them covered with goose bumps. He murmured, "It's so creepy."
Sure enough, whenever someone believes in something, there is always something weird about it, otherwise, they would not give up their faith so easily.
After collecting the evidence, the official looked at it and had the doorman take the man away and lock him up again. He then thought of a way to send his servant to deliver a letter to give an explanation. By coincidence, at this moment, he noticed that the things the man had taken all belonged to the same family, and all the stores the man had broken into all belonged to the same company, which was opened by that family.
At this point, things were much easier to handle. The official clapped his hands and said with a smile, "Okay, now there is one more charge. Let's say that he was jealous and hateful, despised the poor and loved the rich, and deliberately took revenge. He is a complete villain. In this way, there is no possibility or problem of overturning the verdict." Hahahaha.
The letter was sent and the man was locked up. There were other people in that man's prison. They asked him how he got in. He told them, and they all shook their heads and sighed for him. He asked them how they got in. One of them smiled bitterly and said that he had finally saved up enough money to buy a house. He even sold his original house in his hometown and could only save up the first installment for a new house.
The first prisoner said, I want to buy a house, but I can't have only the first installment. The money bank recommended a lender to me and said, "It's a deal, as long as I don't get out of the deal and get back the money, I will lend it to you."
However, the house was not completed, and the builder ran away. I was helpless. I looked for help everywhere, but it was useless. The previous house was gone, and the current house was still gone. I was desperate, and the bank even wanted to collect the debt from me. I said, my house has become a ruin, why should I borrow money? I won’t lend it now.
They said to me, "No, you signed the agreement, you also put your fingerprints and signed your name, don't you remember? Our agreement clearly states that no matter whether you want to buy a house or not, and no matter whether you have bought the house or not, we will lend you money and you need to pay us back every month."
You can't deny your debt. To be honest, we are law-abiding people. If you do this, we have no choice but to send you to the court. If you lose the lawsuit, you will definitely go to jail. You might as well just endure it now.
The young man sneered, "I didn't know that the people above asked whether it was fair or not at the beginning. I only know that they were truly unfair. Just because they were fair sometimes doesn't mean that unfairness doesn't exist at all, right? Just because they reform themselves doesn't mean that mistakes don't exist, right? Why didn't they give the prisoners a chance to reform?"
