Chapter 27

Chapter 27

The second debt collector was circling in the mist and unknowingly walked to a huge commodity market. The building had seven floors with different commodities. There was no one in the place. It was empty and looked scary. When a gust of wind blew, he could vaguely hear a whistle that seemed to be non-existent, as if something in the dark was calling on birds.

The debt collector felt a little cold and frowned. He touched his arm involuntarily and felt goose bumps. He quickly shook his hand, trying to get rid of the bumpy feeling from his mind. For some reason, he thought of countless wriggling insect eggs for a moment, and his expression became uglier than before.

He originally thought that he was going out this time to collect debts. For an ordinary orphan who had no money to pay back, he only needed to torture him, make him admit that he owed the debt and then have him sign a contract to prove that he would borrow money at a high interest rate and pay it back after a while. If he couldn't pay it back, he would use other part of his own money to compensate for the losses of others. Everything was very simple because there was already a process.

It's not the first time he has done this. It's just debt collection, and it's not illegal. Sometimes he's a little violent, but that's because most people who don't pay back their debts are very arrogant. If they don't use their fists, they think they are invincible and no one can do anything to them. They can also never pay back the debt for the rest of their lives. That's really despicable.

He thought, I am just an ordinary debt collector with a lot of power, what bad things can happen to me? I haven't done anything too extreme. If someone wants to harm me, they should be ashamed and reflect, then go to the police station to turn themselves in, and it would be best if they cry bitterly, otherwise if he sees it, he will not be able to help but punch the other person, making such a person unable to look at people in the eye for the rest of his life.

That would be great.

The debt collector was very happy when he thought of this. He couldn't help but smile. Then he thought of the cause of this incident, which was the Debtors Paradise. He couldn't help but frown and curse: "I heard a long time ago that he was an unlucky guy. Now he is so unlucky before we even meet. The rumors are true. I should have been alert and caught him right away and put him on the operating table. Then I can pay back the money."

He walked to a dressing mirror, and without looking carefully, he punched it. With a bang, the mirror broke into pieces and lay on the ground. He stepped on it and muttered, "I can't deal with rich kids, I can't deal with poor people, can't I deal with a broken mirror? It's so annoying to see it dangling here. It's blinding my eyes. I thought I was going to go blind."

He suddenly became happy and laughed, "Actually, there's nothing wrong here. It's quiet, safe, and nothing will happen. After we get out, we just need to say that we accidentally encountered something weird and we'll be fine. Unless they confront us head-on, they will never come to check in person. You can only trust what I say."

The debt collector sat down on the ground, took out a small notebook from his clothes, opened it, looked at the first page and muttered: "I killed a pregnant woman last month, a girl last week, a meowing cat the day before yesterday, and tried to kill a little boy yesterday, but failed. What a pity! I have to find someone to make up for it after I get out. I can't just let it go like this."

He frowned and said, "It's been a long time since someone has really let me suffer a loss. I don't believe that a capable person could be bullied every day to the point where he can't fight back and still owes a large sum of money."

The debt collector consoled himself, convinced himself, and said with a smile: "A person with real ability would have died long ago. How could he be like a piece of trash and sit there helplessly, accepting being beaten and scolded? This kind of person deserves to die. When he saw a rich kid, he didn't even give in. He deserves what he has today."

The mirror not far away suddenly moved. The debt collector frowned in confusion and stared at the mirror carefully for a long time. When he found that the mirror did not move, he wiped his sweat and said with a smile: "I am too suspicious. There is no one here. How could anything move the mirror? Besides, it is just a mirror. What use can it have? It doesn't matter if it moves."

He patted his chest and said, "There is nothing to be afraid of."

Normally, people who say this are very scared, but they haven't reached the stage where they show their emotions on their face.

It didn't matter, he would soon be even more frightened, to the point where he wouldn't be able to hide any of his thoughts.

There was a loud bang, and a mirror behind the debt collector suddenly exploded.

The debt collector was startled, but he still forced himself to show his fear, muttering, "It's okay, it's okay, there's no one here, nothing dangerous will happen, don't be afraid, if you are afraid you will lose, maybe the temperature is just wrong, so it exploded accidentally, it's not impossible for glass to explode on its own, it may also be that the quality is not up to standard, this is also normal."

Even though he said this, he still couldn't suppress his curiosity. He walked over carefully, approached the broken mirror step by step, and carefully examined it. After the inspection, there was nothing abnormal. He couldn't help but breathe a sigh of relief, sat on the ground, wiped the sweat off his face, and smiled, "It's okay."

Before he finished speaking, another mirror exploded.

The debt collector shuddered and murmured, "No way?"

Then, the third mirror exploded.

The debt collector stood up suddenly, but almost lost his balance. His legs gave way and he fell to his knees. He quickly held onto the frame of his glasses and consoled himself by saying, "It just exploded, not on my face. I'm not injured. It doesn't matter. I can run away no matter what happens. I'm not afraid."

He stood up with trembling legs and both his hands were shaking. He wanted to check the time, only to find that the sweat on his wrist had soaked his watch and caused it to change direction subtly. He turned the watch back to its normal direction and looked closely. It had stopped long ago. Time had stopped at the moment he saw the fog. It seemed as if he would never be able to get out.

When he realized this, he felt a suffocating fear, as if an invisible hand had grabbed his neck and told him to die immediately. In his ears, he could faintly hear countless people shouting, the voices of men and women shouting at him, "Die quickly, die quickly, die!"

No one expects you to live.

Is that so?

The debt collector was confused for a moment, then quickly regained his composure, clenched his fists, and shouted, "I'm telling you, it's not like that! I have a wife, a son, and a daughter. They are all waiting for me to go home! They all hope that I will come home, and they all like me very much. It's impossible, it's impossible for them to expect me to die. I will not die here, I must go home!"

He laughed, "I know what's behind it. You can't kill me, so you want me to give up this way? I can't give up unless I see with my own eyes that the people I trust betray me, unless I hear with my own ears that the people I love are tired of giving up on me, unless I see them in person and they admit to me everything that has happened or is about to happen."

The debt collector regained his confidence and shouted even louder, "More! I have a job, a salary, a boss who appreciates me, subordinates who listen to me, harmonious relationships with colleagues, a house and a car. Trash like you who hide behind me will never know how happy my life is! I'm not afraid of you! Don't think you can kill me like this! Hahaha!"

He rolled on the ground, and the flat ground instantly turned into a horrible hellish surface full of thorns and spikes. He felt incomparable pain, and with a cry, he jumped up from the ground. He lowered his head with lingering fear and found that everything had returned to its original state. He was a little confused, but he felt pain as soon as he moved his fingers, and he immediately realized that it was not an illusion.

The world truly changed for a moment, revealing its most dangerous and ferocious face to him, and then it calmed down again, as if it was about to go home.

He was overwhelmed with grief when he thought about not being able to go home, and burst into tears: "I want to go home! I won't give in like this! I'm just going out to work, and this is just an ordinary part of my job. Why do I have to suffer like this? Why do I have to stay here? This is not fair! I won't accept it!"

After he finished crying and wiped his tears, he suddenly saw the door of his home appear before him. He was stunned for a moment, then quickly stood up and looked around, only to find that there was no one around. He ran to the window and looked down, only to find that there was no fog outside. He was overjoyed, thinking that he had escaped. He turned around and was about to go home, just in time to see the elevator door open. The surprise on his face turned into confusion.

He saw with his own eyes his wife and a young man from a neighbor's house hugging and kissing each other in the elevator. His wife was holding a plastic bag in her hand, which was filled with emerald green broccoli and lettuce, with a lush green promotional label on the surface. The elevator door slowly closed, and the two people inside were still kissing each other with smacking sounds, as if they knew nothing about it.

The debt collector was furious. He rushed over and pressed the elevator button frantically. The elevator door opened. He kicked the neighbor man away and kicked his wife in the abdomen. Before his wife could react, she was kicked and fell to the ground. The pocket in her hand fell to the side, and a round potato rolled out and gently hit the mirror-like interior of the elevator.

The debt collector punched his neighbor in the head, grabbed his wife by the hair, and dragged them together, staring at them and asking, "When did you get together? When did you meet behind my back? Have you been together for a long time? I should know, I should know when you went to bed! Don't I?"
