Chapter 302

Chapter 302

"Then go home first."

I said to him.

He nodded.

After I got home and ate a bowl of rice, it was already dark. I went to the balcony to look and saw that there was a thick fog.

The fog was thick and the lights came on, but it was blurry, like the scene seen by a dead person who had just crawled out of a grave.

Suddenly there was a sound like a knock on the door.

"Who's knocking at the door inside?"

Chef Zhang raised his head and was about to go over to open the door, but I held him back.

"What's wrong?"

He asked me.

"Don't you think it's a bit strange? Besides you, there's that woman in the room. But that woman might not be in the room now. Why is there a knock on the door?

Even if that person is inside, he can just speak directly if he has something to say. Why does he keep knocking on the door without saying anything? If he can't speak, he is dumb. But he spoke before, so did he become dumb suddenly?

If you don't see any blood, that means there is nothing wrong with the tongue.

If it was a cold, it wouldn't have come on so suddenly. And if you have a cold, you can take medicine. You should go to the hospital to see a doctor. What's the point of knocking on the door?

Even if the door was accidentally locked and the people inside were locked out, it might be possible to open it if you think about it. Why do you just keep knocking on the door without saying anything or opening it?"

I said.

The knocking on the door in the room became quiet, as if there was suddenly no one inside.

Then there was a sticky, wet sound of something heavy moving on the ground.

Chef Zhang's expression changed slightly.

He obviously thought what I said made sense, so he took a step back, decided not to open the door, and found a seat to sit down.

The door outside suddenly rang twice and opened. The person who came back was the woman. Without even looking at the two people next to her, she went to open the door of the room.

The door of the room was opened, and it was clean inside, without any blood. But I saw a small and exquisite baby statue placed among a pile of messy items on the table in the room.

A little bigger than the palm of your hand.

His whole body was blood red, but his face was white. When he smiled, there was a strange and eerie feeling. His eyes were black, two big and round eyes, staring straight out the door, as if he could see.

I saw those eyes wink at me.

The door was shut with great force, making a bang, followed by the sound of it being locked.

"How are you, little darling? Have you been doing well when I was away? Mommy loves you very much. What would you like today? I have prepared some flowers and fruits for you."

The woman started talking to herself in the room.

"You don't like these? How about I give you some of my blood? I think you'll like this. Grandma said you'll like it. Just eat some first."

The woman continued.

"Was that person like that before?"

I asked Chef Zhang outside the room.

"I don't know. We weren't close or knew each other, but as far as I know it wasn't like that before because I didn't hear anyone talking to themselves in the room before."

Chef Zhang shook his head.

"Besides, when no one was in the house before, the most I heard was some noises like mice eating nuts at night when it was dark and no one was around.

I didn't hear the knock on the door.

Occasionally, you can hear some sounds of refrigerant flowing in the refrigerator, just like someone opening and closing the door.

I used to think that these were very common things and there was no need to worry about them. I just had to get used to them and I wouldn't be afraid anymore. But I didn't expect it to become like this now. It's not a matter of fear at all.

I could convince myself that I wasn’t scared, but I couldn’t convince myself that these things didn’t exist. The sounds and the people were all weird.”

Chef Zhang said with a frown.

"Did you see that thing in the room just now?"

I asked.

"I don't know what you're talking about."

Chef Zhang shook his head.

"A red child who looked like a baby was sitting on the lotus stand. His face was white and he was looking out the door and smiling. He seemed to be holding something in his hands."

I said.

When I recalled it, I found that I didn't see it clearly and my memory was vague. I almost forgot it all in such a short time.

This is not normal.

I suggested to him that we go into the room when no one was there.

"That's not good. But I agree. But I need to find the key. The woman didn't give it to me. Let's go get a copy."

Chef Zhang said in a low voice.

I nodded.

As we were about to leave the room, the door suddenly opened and the woman came out, smiling and saying, "I heard what you were saying."

"I'm so sorry, we have to go out now."

I replied.

"I don't mind inviting you to come in and take a look around the room, but you are not allowed to come in again after that, especially without my permission to secretly make a key to my room. Do you want to come and take a look?"

the woman asked.

Chef Zhang looked at me and asked me to make a decision.

"Okay. Why wouldn't you want to watch it?"

I said with a smile.

Chef Zhang pulled me and we entered the room one after the other under the woman's gaze. The room was not empty.

Taking up the largest space is a bed covered with pink sheets.

A double bed but only one pillow so it was actually a single bed.

A person sleeping on this bed certainly doesn't need to worry about accidentally falling to the floor.

There was a window on one side and a closet on the other, almost blocking the road.

There is a wall on one side opposite the bed, a lot of things are hung on the other side, and the door of the room is diagonally opposite.

The wall with a lot of things hanging on it is at the foot of the bed. There is a sewing machine with medicines piled on top, a dressing mirror, and a lot of boxes piled underneath.

The box was covered in dust and seemed not to be used regularly.

The statue I saw earlier was placed in the corner of the wall next to the window on this sewing machine.

This baby feels different from the ones I saw before.

If I thought this baby was weird before, now I just think it's cute.

I frowned.

Chef Zhang reached out to pick up the thing but was stopped by the woman next to him.

"Excuse me, sir, this is my thing, please don't mess with it. If you must touch it, bathe, burn incense, fast for three days and drink only clean water, and then get permission to touch it.

Otherwise the child will be unhappy.”

The woman said.

"How could he allow that?"

Chef Zhang was a little confused.

"If he allows it, he will tell me. If he doesn't allow it, you can't come in. He is a child, not a motionless corpse. Why can't he allow it?"

The woman replied with a smile.

"You usually leave him like this. If he were a child, he would have starved to death long ago."

I said.

The woman's expression turned unhappy.

"How can you talk like that? You are so rude. How can you say that a child will starve to death just because you see a mother and her child? If you were not a guest in this room, I would pick up the broom and chase you away."

The woman muttered.

"I'm sorry, I just said something nonsense. How do you take care of this child?"

I asked.

"He is very well behaved. He doesn't cry or make a fuss, and he doesn't ask to go out. Sometimes I buy him some candy, and usually he has fruit and milk, or he can burn incense."

The woman answered.

"You should go now. Have you finished what you wanted to see? This room is very small and the only person you care about is this child. Please don't disturb us again."

After the woman answered, her face changed, and she pushed the two people out of the room and closed the door.

"What do we do next?"

Chef Zhang asked with a frown.

"Let's go for a walk. Although it's hard to drive in this foggy weather, walking is not allowed. As long as you don't get hit by a car while walking on the road, it's safe."

I said to him.

He nodded and followed me out the door, into a quiet and empty park with almost no one around. There was no sound all around, as if we were not in a park but in a cemetery.

"You seem to have something to say to me."

Chef Zhang stared at me.

"If we were at your house, that woman would probably hear everything we say, but if we go out, she probably wouldn't be able to hear us. For safety's sake, I want to say this here."

I answered him.

Chef Zhang nodded.

"The woman heard what we said, so she let us into the room. She must have packed away the things she didn't want us to see, and only showed us what we could see."

I said.

"What should I do?"

Chef Zhang asked.

"What are we going to see? Haven't we already seen the child? Although it's strange to put a child in the room for no reason, the child looks quite normal."

Chef Zhang said.

"But the child I saw the first time and the child I saw the second time looked the same, but they felt completely different. That woman must have done something while we were unaware."

I said.

"There's no need to be so nervous, right? Maybe you're just too nervous and you saw it wrong. After all, the room is full of things, the lighting is not very good, and there is a person living in it.

It’s normal for something to be a little weird, but it’s not weird anymore when there are more people around. This explains why you feel differently before and after.”

Chef Zhang said nothing.

"I had nothing to be nervous about, and I only agreed to go into her room to look at the child, but I didn't promise her that I would not use the key to go into the room to look at the thing when she was not there."

I stood up and said.

"You want to find someone to open the door now? I don't know if anyone opened the door in this weather. Even if someone opened the door and took it back, who would know if the woman was there?"

Chef Zhang frowned.

"First, go to the master to make an appointment, and then ask the master to come after the woman in the room leaves. Otherwise, ask the master to teach me and I can drive by myself.

The room is yours, so opening your own room is nothing."

I said.

Chef Zhang agreed hesitantly.

After meeting the locksmith and learning the skill, Chef Zhang and I returned to his home.
