Chapter 308
"You're already in this state, so stop talking and save your energy. I'll take you to the hospital soon."
The driver said.
"Okay, thank you anyway, driver."
The woman said.
As she spoke, blood started to flow out of her body, staining the entire seat cushion red. She looked horrible, and her hair was disheveled and shapeless in the mirror.
No wonder the girl ran away when she saw it.
It is normal for a normal person walking alone at night to be frightened when seeing such a situation, but some people are so frightened that they cannot walk, while others just run away.
The one just now was just the latter.
"Let's get out of here as quickly as possible, get a new car, and go home."
I said to Chef Zhang.
"Then let's go now."
Chef Zhang nodded.
The two of us were walking on the road, with our backs to the car.
The car had not been going for long when it suddenly made a loud bang on the road, as if it had hit something it shouldn't have hit. There were a lot of explosions and a ball of fire started on the road.
The fire set the whole car on fire.
The driver of the car was not spared, but the pregnant woman in the car actually climbed out, bleeding and on fire, using her arms to crawl out on the ground, and shouted to the two people in the distance:
"Save me, please, save me!"
Chef Zhang shuddered and started running wildly.
He thought: Whoever goes there is a fool. The car was fine just now, but it suddenly exploded. It must be a ghost or an illusion, otherwise how could it happen?
If that person hadn't gotten on the bus, I might have been taken home by now. I was really crazy to go and save him.
After that he and I got a new car on the road.
We both finally got home, but we spent a little more money.
But it was late at night and it was not easy to haggle with others. The road was not far and if he dragged it out any longer, he might encounter ghosts. Under such circumstances, he could not help but be stingy with money.
He gritted his teeth, stamped his feet, paid the money, and the driver stepped on the accelerator and drove away.
"It's like two crazy people are getting together in the middle of the night. It's really strange."
The driver shook his head in the car.
Chef Zhang and I returned to his house. He opened the door carefully, worried that he might see a woman's face inside.
There was no one else in there, it was extremely quiet, the lights were off, and there didn't seem to be any danger, so he breathed a sigh of relief.
But I felt that it might not be that safe, so I was always worried.
He comforted me with a few words, then washed up and fell asleep on the bed.
I also lay next to him, but he slept on the bed and I slept on the floor next to the bed.
Because I always feel that when I sleep in bed, something will crawl out from under the bed.
As expected, I didn't sleep much, but when I felt myself half asleep and half awake, I suddenly heard some noises and sat up suddenly.
I looked to the side and saw Chef Zhang sitting upright on the bed, as if he was not asleep at all. He turned his head and stared at me with his sharp eyes.
If you don't know him, you might think he is an owl.
He scared me, and I punched him. He covered his face and asked in confusion, "Why did you hit me suddenly? I was sleeping soundly. Are you possessed?"
"Don't you know what you just did? You just sat on the edge of the bed and stared at me, and I was scared. How did you look like you were asleep?"
I shook my head and said.
"You know I have a bit of a sleepwalking problem, and I haven't dealt with it yet. Maybe I was about to sleepwalk, but you interrupted me, so I want to see if you can make a big deal."
He shook his head.
“That’s scary too.”
I replied.
"Anyway, I'm going to sleep."
He lay back with his face in his hands.
I was also ready to rest, but I couldn't sleep. I heard the sound again. I sat up and looked at him. He was still lying on the bed, so I got off his bed to look for my shoes.
A pale hand had just withdrawn from under the bed.
I took out my phone and took a picture, but the picture came out blurry and I didn't catch the hand at all.
The hand reached out again and started groping around.
I took my shoes.
The hand paused for a moment and slowly retracted.
But then a pale figure with long black hair crawled out from under the bed. Its nails were so long that they could poke a hole in my neck.
I crawled over the living room wall to the light switch and flicked it on.
That thing is gone.
I breathed a sigh of relief.
Chef Zhang sat up impatiently and asked me, "What's wrong with you? You're not going to sleep tonight. When I was in the hospital, everyone kept the lights on. They didn't turn them on and off."
"You don't know that a hand just stretched out from under your bed."
I sighed and said.
"Maybe you saw it wrongly. It was pitch black and you might have been dazzled. That's normal."
He rubbed his eyes and said.
"You know what? I didn't talk to you like that when you were screaming outside the hospital and seeing everyone's faces as one."
I said.
“But you didn’t give me any money. And I was actually hospitalized.”
Chef Zhang said.
"Then I will leave now. Maybe these things only happen to you. After I leave you, I will never encounter such things again.
Although I took your money, it was only half of it. Now that things are almost over, I am not responsible for after-sales service, nor am I responsible for the final conclusion. You can do whatever you want."
I said as I went to open the door.
He rushed over.
"Please don't abandon me."
He pulled me aside and said.
"If you don't know me, you'd think I was really brave."
I said.
"I was just talking nonsense because I wasn't thinking straight."
he explained.
"Whatever you want."
I pushed him away.
"Are you still leaving?"
he asked.
"I'm not leaving. I finally have a place to rest in the middle of the night. If I leave, it will be dawn soon. Why would I sleep then?"
I shook my head.
He breathed a sigh of relief and returned to bed, wrapping himself in the quilt.
"Then I feel relieved."
He said.
But he immediately sat up in bed.
"Wait, you just said there was a hand under the bed. Do you have a picture? Did you really see it? What happened to that thing afterwards? It's not still under the bed, is it?
Then I can’t turn off the lights. What if I’m not there when I turn on the lights and suddenly it appears?”
Chef Zhang said.
That was when he became smart.
"You're right, so I decided not to turn off the lights."
I nodded.
"That would be great."
He breathed a sigh of relief, lay back down, and sat up again.
"That's not right. The lights were always on in the hospital, but it's not uncommon. And I just came back from the hospital. Why should I keep the lights on when I sleep?"
He asked doubtfully.
"To save your life. If you want to die, it's okay to turn off the lights."
I said.
"Forget it, just keep driving."
He shook his head and lay back down.
Not long after he lay down, I heard the same sound again. I listened carefully and it seemed that the sound was not coming from nearby, but from the kitchen.
I haven't gone back to bed yet, but it's a bit cold at night.
Chef Zhang was also shivering with cold in bed, wrapped in the quilt like a worm, wearing his shoes, and crawling towards me.
"You are wearing so little and not covering yourself with a blanket. Don't you feel cold?"
He looked at me with curiosity and awe.
"It's cold, but I haven't felt it this cold before, so there must be something wrong. The temperature wouldn't drop so suddenly. It's not raining and there's no thunder."
I said.
Before he could finish his words, there was a sudden thunder outside the window, followed by rain. A gust of wind blew up amid the heavy rain, and a wailing sound was heard outside the window.
It sounded like a ghost wailing in the air.
"Now I know what ghosts howl and wolves howl. It's really strange that the weather suddenly changed in the middle of the night, and the sound is so loud. Besides, it's not safe here. We must have been hit."
Chef Zhang shook his head and wrapped his quilt tighter.
"Why don't we go to bed first? We can lie down on a bed. It might be warmer. I don't have a heater here. If I turn on the power at night, there might be a fire.
Turning on the air conditioner is out of the question, because there is no air conditioner in this living room."
Chef Zhang said.
"You like to drive, but I don't either. Once I drive, my skin will get dry and flaky. Who knows if something will happen later? Isn't it because I don't sleep in the bedroom that I'm worried that there might be danger inside and I can't escape?
If we solve the danger now, maybe we can get some sleep. Otherwise, we will die tonight."
I shook my head.
He hesitated for a moment and then agreed.
I followed the sound to the kitchen, but didn't find anyone or a mouse. He said it might be a cockroach or something might have been misplaced. In any case, he advised me to go to sleep.
I let him out.
But suddenly I saw the mirror at the kitchen door.
The mirror was attached to the wall, next to the door. I could usually use it to tidy up my clothes before going out, but now I suddenly saw a woman's shadow in it.
The problem is that neither I nor Chef Zhang are women.
The owner of the room next to Chef Zhang was originally a woman, and the person that Chef Zhang later picked up in the taxi was also a woman.
There can't be a woman hidden in his mirror, right?
This is just like hiding a ghost in a grave.
How come they are everywhere?
Chef Zhang wanted to turn around because he thought it was a bit strange that I hesitated and remained silent for too long.
I held his shoulders.
"Sorry, please look for it again and don't look back."
I said.
"Don't look back. Isn't this a rule for people walking on the street? Aren't we home already? Are we still on the street? Where did I sleep just now?"
Chef Zhang shuddered as he thought.
But he was obedient and didn't turn around.
I'm just worried that if he turns around it might cause something to change in the mirror.
