Chapter 13 The Ghost's Wedding Dress

Just as Ji Qian said, the wedding dress was very eye-catching red, and Han Mengyao saw it as soon as she entered the room.

Considering that Ji Qian was still waiting for her outside, Han Mengyao originally planned to grab her wedding dress and go out, but she didn't expect to feel a bone-chilling cold as soon as she reached out her hand.

Han Mengyao abruptly pulled her hand back, only to find that a thin layer of frost had formed on her fingertips.

This was the first time Han Mengyao had ever truly felt the presence of ghosts. Not only was she not afraid, she was even a little excited. Sure enough, good things would happen if she followed Ji Qian!

Han Mengyao squatted down near the wooden box and felt a chill rush towards her. She knew with her own feet that if she tried to force her way up to the clothes, she would definitely get frostbite.

Han Mengyao couldn't see the ghost, so she had no way to accurately avoid its location. Ji Qian could, but if she dared to take it, Han Mengyao wouldn't be standing here.

After circling the room several times without finding a suitable tool, Han Mengyao had no choice but to set her sights on the only remaining half of the curtain. Unlike Ji Qian, she was not agile and it took her a lot of effort to finally get the curtain down.

Han Mengyao was wondering why Ji Qian was carrying a bundle made of a curtain, but now she understood. The curtain material was really good; it was sturdy, blocked out light, and was thick. It also had a smooth surface and was probably waterproof. It was a good material for making a backpack.

Han Mengyao thought that after she received her wedding dress, she would also ask Ji Qian to make her a small backpack of the same style, which would be much better than that broken basket without even a lid!

But that's all for later; right now, the most important thing is this wedding dress.

Han Mengyao wrapped the curtains tightly around her hands and reached into the box for her wedding dress again. Although she could still feel the chill, it had been greatly reduced. Enduring the slight stinging sensation, Han Mengyao finally pulled the wedding dress out of the box.

Strangely, Han Mengyao found that the coldness in her wedding dress did not lessen after she got out of the box; on the contrary, it became even more severe.

In just a short while, a layer of frost had formed on the part where the curtains met the wedding dress, and the viewers watching the live stream finally noticed that something was wrong.

Am I seeing things? That piece of clothing looks like it's frozen.

[The special effects are quite realistic; the production team put in a lot of effort.]

[These special effects are better than those in domestic dramas]

[Does this look like special effects to me?]

[Definitely not. I work in special effects; live streaming effects couldn't possibly achieve this level of quality!]

[If it's not special effects, then it can't be real! It's September!]

Do you think it's possible... this house is really haunted, and this was done by a ghost?

[Are you kidding me? Why would the production team choose a haunted house?]

[I don't know if this was done by a ghost, but my hometown is in this village, and this house is really a bit eerie.]

[Let's talk about it in detail]

More than 20 years ago, a developer wanted to turn this house into a tourist attraction. However, on the day construction started, the signboard at the entrance fell down and killed a worker on the spot.

Later, people kept getting injured on the construction site. Once, when a worker went to the toilet, the others locked the toilet door from the outside to cause trouble.

The worker tried to climb out of the window, but the iron plate on the roof somehow slipped down and cut him in half at the waist.

After that incident, the construction site was completely vacated. If it weren't for this program, I would have almost forgotten about it.

[...]

[My daughter, run away! Aa ...

[Is this show really that outrageous? They actually filmed in a haunted house! I love it!]

【Seriously, you guys actually believe that? That kid might just be a plant by the production team】

[I'm from Zijing City, this is true, it was even featured in the City Daily, it's quite well-known.]

You can search for "workers in Jinmao Village, Zijing City, cut in half" to find more news articles.

Holy crap! It really exists!!

[No way! My Xuxu is still inside!]

【Sisi, run!】

[Suddenly I'm glad Xu Qi went to the hospital]

Han Mengyao couldn't hear her fans urging her to run; all she could feel was the biting cold creeping up her hand.

Han Mengyao had a premonition that if she let this chill creep into her heart, she would probably become the first celebrity in history to die with a live broadcast.

Han Mengyao knew that the current situation was beyond her control, but there was someone who might be able to save her.

Ji Qian was hesitating whether to barge in when she saw Han Mengyao walking out of the room in an odd posture, dragging a bunch of things.

Ji Qian followed Han Mengyao's left hand and saw that the heavy curtains had now dragged to the ground, intertwined with the bright red wedding dress, looking like a pile of rags, with a grayish-white stick stuck to the other side of the rags.

Han Mengyao felt an unusual heaviness in her left hand, which made her walk awkwardly. Han Mengyao walked slowly and with difficulty, and Ji Qian had to exert a lot of effort to finally see what was attached to the other side of the "rag".

That wasn't a grayish-white stick at all, but a woman's arm!

Ji Qian never expected that Han Mengyao would not only bring out her wedding dress, but also give her a free gift!

Ji Qian felt a long-lost soreness welling up in her eyes. She was finally going to be scared to tears in front of the national audience. She didn't know whether being scared to tears or being scared to kneel down was more humiliating.

Ji Qian's mind was in a mess. One moment she saw Xu Qi kneeling down, the next she saw a fleeting glimpse of the woman in the box, and finally the image of Han Mengyao fetching water for her to wash her face yesterday.

If she abandons Han Mengyao and runs away now, wouldn't she become just like Xu Qi?!

Xu Qi, still in the hospital: Pui pui pui

Ji Qian didn't want to live like Xu Qi, and besides, things might not be that bad; maybe this ghost could be communicated with.

Clinging to a sliver of hope, Ji Qian mustered her courage and cast her gaze upon the woman who hadn't yet fully left the house. That single glance brought tears welling up in Ji Qian's eyes.

The female ghost's tattered pale pink dress was covered in blood, her exposed arms and ankles were bluish-white and grayish-white, and her hair and eyelashes were covered in frost.

What horrified Ji Qian the most was that the female ghost only had two bloody holes where her eyes should have been, making her otherwise beautiful face look exceptionally ferocious.

Is this an evil spirit? It must be an evil spirit!

Ji Qian felt like her head was about to explode. If it weren't for Han Mengyao, she would probably already be on the bus back to Zijing City.

But Han Mengyao was still standing there looking confused, waiting for her to rescue her. Ji Qian looked at Han Mengyao and mustered up her courage again: "You... are you okay?"

Hearing the sound, the female ghost tilted her head, a hint of confusion appearing on her狰狞 (zhengning - ferocious/hideous) face.

Seeing that she didn't immediately attack, Ji Qian felt a bit more confident: "Can you let go? My friend is cold."

The female ghost seemed oblivious to the outside world, and only slowly responded to Ji Qian after a while.

"My...clothes!"
