Chapter 154 Ghostly Shadows

After finishing her meal, Han Mengyao took out her sleeping bag from her backpack, cut it in two with a dagger, and turned it into a large, soft mat.

General Ji Qian pulled Xu Qi, whose body temperature had finally returned to normal, out of the bearskin, then laid it flat on the ground and called to Ying Xu and the assistant director:

“You can sleep here. It’s warm and soft. The only downside is that it doesn’t smell very good, but it’s still better than sleeping on the floor.”

Ying Xu didn't have any objections to this. When he was a trainee, he even slept in the toilet to catch up on sleep, which was at least better than sleeping in the toilet.

Xu Qi hadn't yet recovered from the earlier shock, and upon seeing this, he immediately tried to run to his sleeping bag, but was stopped by Ji Qian, who was already on guard:

"That's where the girls sleep, so just accept your fate."

As she spoke, Ji Qian reached out and pushed Xu Qi, sending him crashing onto the bear skin.

Seeing this, the assistant director didn't dare to say anything more. He quickly endured the stench and lay down, putting on a docile and obedient appearance.

Seeing this, Ji Qian nodded in satisfaction and turned to deal with the two ghosts in the corner.

"Stop pretending, I know you're awake."

Upon hearing Ji Qian's words, Nora, who had been feigning sleep with her eyes closed, slowly opened them, startling Count Lanruer, who thought she was still unconscious. He quickly shrank back into the corner.

Nora ignored Count Lanruer's little tricks and just stared straight at Ji Qian, her blue eyes, which were exactly the same as Count Lanruer's, filled with hatred.

Ji Qian didn't care about Nora's attitude. She took two steps closer and squatted down next to Nora, whispering in her ear:

"Stop pretending. You don't really think I didn't notice, do you?"

Nora was startled by what she heard and subconsciously looked up at Ji Qian, but then quickly looked away because she felt that she had made her point too obvious.

Having observed the other person's behavior closely, Ji Qian knew her guess was correct. So she straightened up, her attitude becoming much gentler than before.

"Don't worry, there's an old Chinese saying: every wrong has its perpetrator, and every debt has its debtor. As long as you're honest enough, I can guarantee that the culprit will pay the price."

"Ha, how can you guarantee that those guys have already..."

At this point, Nora seemed to suddenly understand the unspoken meaning in Ji Qian's words. Her lips parted and closed hesitantly for a long time before she finally managed to squeeze out only one sentence:

Why should I believe you?

Ji Qian shrugged indifferently at her questioning:

"You should be able to sense that with my abilities, killing you would only take a little effort, but it would be by no means difficult."

Of course you can ignore me and continue causing trouble, but I won't go easy on you.

Ji Qian's words were undeniably blunt, yet strangely, they reassured Nora considerably. She scrutinized Ji Qian for a long time with a complex expression before finally speaking:

"I can only guarantee that I will not make a move again before we return to the castle."

"Can."

After receiving Nora's promise, Ji Qian pulled over Count Lanruer, who had already been tied up, and bound the two together before finally turning away with peace of mind.

Considering nighttime safety concerns, Han Mengyao volunteered to take turns keeping watch, which received everyone's support.

Including the photographer, there are a total of eight people who can take on the night watch, which is just enough for one round.

Ji Qian, as the strongest fighter in the entire group, was assigned to the 3 AM shift, which was the shift with the heaviest yin energy.

Xu Qi and Han Mengyao, who have special physical conditions, were respectively scheduled for the safest times of 11 PM and 6 AM.

After assigning shifts for guard duty, the group, who had been busy all day, finally drifted off to sleep to the sound of raindrops pattering on the leaves.

At this time, Britain was already approaching early autumn, and the continuous rainy weather had already successfully lowered the local temperature to near freezing point.

Because of the cave's unusual shape, Han Mengyao extinguished the campfire in the middle before going to sleep to prevent carbon dioxide poisoning among everyone.

Therefore, when Ji Qian was woken up by Ying Xu in the middle of the night, she opened her eyes and saw Mi Yesi and Han Mengyao hugging each other tightly.

Their tender and affectionate gestures are so captivating that even lovers in the throes of passion would be ashamed of themselves.

On the other side of the bear skin, Xu Qi had already climbed halfway out of the bear skin, with only his legs remaining, which were being held in the assistant director's arms, giving off a somewhat forced love vibe.

The two cameramen were entangled back to back. Ji Qian observed them for a long time but still couldn't figure out how they got into that position.

"Sister Qian, I'm going to sleep now. Call me if you need anything."

After handing over the slack to Ji Qian, Ying Xu quickly claimed the only secluded spot on the bearskin, wrapped himself in his clothes, and drifted off to sleep.

After seeing Ying Xu lie down, Ji Qian turned off the flashlight she was using for illumination, preparing to verify her guess from earlier that day.

Sure enough, after the flashlight beam completely disappeared, Ji Qian found that she could still see everything in the cave clearly.

Things that should have been hidden in the darkness were now as clear to her as if they had turned on night vision mode; everything was so clear, even clearer than when she was using a flashlight.

That's why Ji Qian suddenly noticed that on the edge of the cave wall, a black thing was wriggling and extending inward.

Seeing this, Ji Qian pinched her arm, forcing herself not to scream.

She picked up a sickle from the side and hid it behind her back. Then she stood up and walked around the cave as if nothing was wrong, as if she were conducting a normal patrol.

After Ji Qian ignored the black object for the third time, the object finally started moving again.

It moved slowly toward the interior of the cave, seemingly with some desired target in mind.

Ji Qian looked up in the direction it was moving and, sure enough, saw a familiar figure.

At this moment, Ji Qian's tense emotions were strangely calmed down. She continued to patrol along her original route, but deliberately avoided the object when passing by.

Finally, to Ji Qian's delight, the object successfully reached Xu Qi's side.

When it was less than ten centimeters away from Xu Qi, the black, viscous-like object suddenly swelled up and turned into a huge mouth that was more than half the height of a person.

This mouth, made of black mucus, is filled with sharp teeth and emits a foul stench when it opens and closes, clearly indicating that it has eaten many people.

Just as the mouth was about to touch Xu Qi, Ji Qian knew the time was right. She took two quick steps, then leaped high into the air, the sickle in her hand swiftly slicing across the sticky mouth.

Before the clump of slime could even resist, Ji Qian cleaved it in two, and it then turned into a cloud of black smoke and dissipated into the air.

After successfully dispersing the unknown object, Ji Qian sat back down in her original seat.

She thought she could finally get some rest, but she didn't expect that the thing seemed to have turned on some strange switch, and all sorts of bizarre and evil spirits came one after another, almost all of them targeting Xu Qi.
