Chapter 158 The Birth of an Evil God

"Meng... Sister Meng, is that you?"

Although she knew it was impossible, Ji Qian still held onto hope for Han Mengyao. She shouldn't be that twisted yet.

Unfortunately, the familiar voice that followed from the bottom of the pit shattered Ji Qian's hopes:

"I found something good here, but it's a bit hard to get. You pull it up first, and I'll be up in a bit."

After saying that, perhaps worried that Ji Qian wouldn't agree, Han Mengyao added, "Don't worry, if you look closely, it's actually quite cute."

Unfortunately, after what just happened, Ji Qian's trust in Han Mengyao has plummeted to an all-time low.

Ji Qian glanced around and precisely chose a suitable scapegoat: "Ying Xu, could you please come here for a moment?"

Ying Xu, who had just finished moving a mummified corpse, heard the sound and ran over to Ji Qian's side, asking with a bright smile, "What can I do for you, Sister Qian?"

Ji Qian felt a little reluctant, but she spoke without hesitation: "Sister Meng said she found a 'good thing,' and I'm afraid I might break it if I use too much force, so you can pull it up."

As she spoke, Ji Qian handed the rope to Ying Xu. Ying Xu, without suspicion, took the rope and began to pull hard. In no time, he pulled the thing at the bottom of the pit to the surface.

"Is this... a goat?"

Ji Qian, who had initially turned her head away, turned her head back in surprise upon hearing this: "Isn't that a person?"

Ying Xu had already pulled out most of the things from the bottom of the pit. Next to the dark fur that Ji Qian had just seen, there was a hoof that was unique to even-toed ungulates.

Ji Qian mustered her courage and leaned forward, only to discover that the 'head' she had just seen was actually the tail of this goat.

Overcoming their fear, Ji Qian reached out and, together with Ying Xu, scooped the 'goat' out of the water.

It wasn't until the entire sheep was pulled out of the hole that Ji Qian realized Han Mengyao's words were true.

Based on the age of the mummified corpses at the bottom of the pit, Ji Qian originally thought this was also a century-old dried 'sheep'. However, she did not expect that this goat had smooth fur, a peaceful face, and even its horns had an eerie luster, as if it had been carefully fed by someone.

If the goat hadn't remained completely still despite their repeated handling, Ji Qian might have even thought it was a live goat.

After Ji Qian and the others placed the goat's carcass on the ground to the side, Han Mengyao finally crawled out of the hole, covered in mud.

Without bothering to wipe it off, Han Mengyao took out her phone and handed it to Ji Qian, her voice brimming with barely suppressed excitement:

"There are many mummified corpses piled up together down there. I didn't count them exactly, but there should be more than ten."

The goat was placed alone on a round platform, looking somewhat like a smaller version of the altar I'd seen before; I took pictures of it on my phone.

Ji Qian took the phone, took a few deep breaths to prepare herself, and then opened the photo album. Sure enough, she saw several new photos that were obviously poorly lit.

Besides the close-up photos of the mummified corpses that clearly exceeded Ji Qian's psychological limits, Ji Qian also noticed that Han Mengyao had focused on photographing several pieces of paper with a strange texture.

The patterns on these papers are very similar to the cult totems that Ji Qian and the others saw underground, but there are also subtle differences.

Each pattern had something written in English next to it, but because the handwriting was too messy, Ji Qian couldn't make out the specific content, so she had to hand the phone back to Han Mengyao. Unexpectedly, Han Mengyao couldn't understand it either.

So Ji Qian had no choice but to turn to the two indigenous people present for help.

Seeing that Ji Qian rarely needed his help, Earl Lanruer puffed out his chest, trying to appear arrogant and noble. Unfortunately, due to the hardships he had suffered these past few days, he looked inexplicably pitiful.

Count Lanruer was unaware of this. He cleared his throat, about to say something, when he was interrupted by a woman's voice suddenly sounding behind him:

"Let me take a look."

So, under the watchful gaze of Count Lanruer, who dared not speak his anger, Nora, who had been silent for a long time, gracefully stepped forward and reached out as if to take the phone.

Ji Qian handed the phone to Nora, while simultaneously adding fuel to the fire of the conflict between the two:

"Great, I thought I'd have to ask some ghost for help."

As expected, Earl Lanruer's anger intensified upon hearing this, and his already high eyebrows almost reached his forehead.

Unfortunately, nobody cares about him now.

Because the photo was so blurry, Nora had to spend quite a while to finally make out what was written on it.

Ji Qian didn't know what had happened. She only saw Nora suddenly start trembling all over, then bend over and start vomiting violently, and her phone was thrown to the ground.

Before Ji Qian could pick it up, Count Lanruer, who had been eyeing the area, snatched it away first.

Count Lanruer picked up his phone, looked at the text on the photo for a while, and then bent over and began to gag.

Perhaps because he hadn't eaten much before his death, Count Lanruer only dry heaved for a while before collapsing to the ground, completely exhausted, as if he had suffered some great blow.

Seeing the two ghosts acting this way, Ji Qian's curiosity grew even stronger. Seeing Nora about to lie down on the ground, Ji Qian quickly stopped her:

"Don't rush, tell me what's written on the paper first before you lie down."

Nora glanced at Ji Qian listlessly, then gave him a malicious smile, correcting the mistake in Ji Qian's words:

"That thing isn't paper."

"ah?"

Before Ji Qian could react, Mi Yesi, who had just binge-watched horror movies during her vacation, screamed:

"That's not human skin, is it?!"

Milyes's reaction clearly pleased Nora, who nodded and didn't keep her in suspense any longer:

"In addition to their religious doctrines, those human skins also contained detailed descriptions of the implementation and development of a special ritual."

"What special ceremony?"

Nora paused, the mere thought of the word making her want to vomit again, but thinking of Ji Qian and the others who hadn't yet been persecuted, she forced herself to utter the word:

"They call this ritual the birth of an evil god, and the ultimate goal of the ritual is to create an evil god to benefit the followers by combining humans with demons."

"Wait a moment,"

Miyes raised her hand to interrupt Nora: "Since they've already brought in a demon, why do they still have to create that so-called 'evil god'?"

Although Miyesi was unfamiliar with the Western hierarchy of evil factions, according to the logic of this plan, demons were clearly stronger than evil gods mixed with human blood!

Nora sneered, a mocking look in her eyes: "Ha, how could they possibly have the ability to find a real demon?"

At this point, Nora pointed to the goat on the ground and posed a question to the crowd:

Do you know what goats symbolize in our culture?
