Chapter 2: The Exciting Opening

Before Liu Xia could react, in the blink of an eye, tears were already welling up in Ji Qian's eyes:

"Sister Xia, please, save me from this disaster! My house has been taken over; it's practically a gathering place for ghosts from the neighborhood!"

As Ji Qian spoke, she released Liu Xia's hand, turned around, and threw herself onto the bed, burying her head in the pillow.

"I wake up crying every day now, and even when I wash my face, I can see red clothes fluttering behind me."

The worst part is, they always suddenly appear and scare me! I've already found organs in my takeout bags five times in a row!!!

As Ji Qian spoke, she became more and more agitated, her tears flowing more and more freely, and her grip tightening more and more.

Liu Xia watched helplessly as the pillow Ji Qian was hugging grew flatter and flatter until it finally burst open, smearing cotton all over Ji Qian's face and making her choke and gag by the bedside.

Liu Xia sighed as she looked at Ji Qian, whose face was covered in white hair, and resignedly went to the front desk to ask for a new pillow.

The first episode of "Walking into the Truth" was filmed in an old house in a village on the outskirts of Zijing City, a three-hour drive from the hotel where Ji Qian and the others were staying. So, at five o'clock the next morning, Ji Qian got up sleepily and started putting on makeup.

Although Ji Qian isn't a big star, the production team treated her the same as everyone else, arranging a van for her. This was Ji Qian's first time riding in such a vehicle, and if she hadn't been so sleepy that she couldn't keep her eyes open, she definitely would have taken the time to explore it.

Having slept for an unknown amount of time in the car, Ji Qian opened her eyes to the director's calls. Just as she was about to speak, she felt a dryness in her mouth and subconsciously smacked her lips twice, when she heard her phone beep with a message.

Ji Qian took out her phone and opened it to see a WeChat message from Liu Xia: "Stop smacking your lips! The live stream started half an hour ago!"

A live stream?! What live stream?! She'd never heard of this before!!!

Ji Qian looked at the accompanying director in front of her. The director silently pointed to the camera hanging in the upper left corner of the car window. Ji Qian looked at the camera, then at the director who was covered up completely. A sense of desolation rose in her heart. Sure enough, there is no true affection in the entertainment industry.

The accompanying director, unaware of Ji Qian's turbulent emotions, continued to diligently perform his duties.

"Teacher Ji, I'm sorry, we only have 20 minutes left to reach our destination, and there's a pre-interview that we need to complete."

"No, I'm sorry, it's my fault. I'm too sleepy. Go ahead and ask."

Ji Qian leaned back in her chair. She wasn't fully awake yet, and besides, she'd already been live-streaming for half an hour, so leaning back a little longer wouldn't make a difference.

"Okay, so the first question is, I heard that this is Professor Ji's first time participating in a variety show. Why did Professor Ji choose our program?"

Fortunately, Liu Xia had written down the answers to the questions that might be asked on a piece of paper beforehand. While they were talking, Ji Qian took out the paper and stuffed it into the back of the seat in front of her.

She checked; this is a blind spot for cameras, it's perfectly safe.

"Because I..."

Just as Ji Qian was about to answer, she realized that the paper Liu Xia had given her only had the answers written on it, without indicating the questions. Now she couldn't tell which answer was correct at all.

But since it was a live broadcast, Ji Qian had no choice but to grit her teeth and continue reading in order not to give herself away:

"Because I feel that as long as I don't hold others back, that's enough; I don't have any other ambitions."

[Holy crap, has Ji Qian gone mad?]

[He's definitely possessed.]

[Waaaaah, this is so scary! Brother Xu Qi, run!]

[Don't call him "brother" anymore. My Yaoyao is so delicate, what will she do if she runs into such a madman?]

[Hey, is it really that exaggerated? She looks like a sweet girl.]

Haven't you heard of Ji Qian? A notorious madwoman in the entertainment industry, indiscriminate in her sexuality, both male and female, and even keeps ***.

What to raise?

**

[Ugh, I can't post this. It's just promoting feudal superstition!]

[Isn't this a science education variety show? How can it feature something that promotes feudal superstition?]

"They made offerings, that's why they keep that thing around, isn't it?"

[Not necessarily, Ji Qian is quite pretty after all, maybe she is... hehehe]

[The person in front has reported it.]

[Report +1]

[Report+]

Ji Qian couldn't see the comments, but she felt bad as soon as she said it. However, it was too late to take it back, so she could only force a calm smile and wait for the next question.

The director on the other end was also taken aback by the fact that someone had answered so fluently from a prepared script. He paused for several seconds before realizing what had happened and asked the question again:

"You should have a general understanding of the nature of our show, right? We're about to start filming. What are your expectations for your teammates? You might see two old friends this time!"

Ji Qian didn't hear the whole question; she only heard the beginning and started looking for the answer.

"Oh! Found it... um, I mean... it must be pretty scary, I'm a little scared, but I hope I can do well."

What does she mean by not answering? Does she look down on our Yao Yao?

Am I just imagining things? Why is Ji Qian talking so incoherently?

[The previous statement wasn't an illusion; she's definitely mentally unstable! Waaaa, my brother is going to suffer again!]

[Haha, with her IQ, no wonder she has no friends. If someone like her could make friends, I'd livestream myself eating while doing a handstand!]

[Hey you in front, try standing on your head and eating yourself!]

Ji Qian thought her answer was good, but for some reason, the director's expression became more complicated.

Since it was still a live broadcast, the director had no choice but to bite the bullet and keep asking.

Ji Qian was really unlucky; she didn't choose the right answer for the next few questions, and the director's expression visibly became more and more ferocious.

Ji Qian also sensed something was off, but she couldn't ask for details during the live stream. Fortunately, they arrived at their destination shortly after the interview ended.
