Chapter 26 The Lovestruck Old Man and the Charming Old Woman

Ji Qian, who had been looking smug just moments before, was now terrified and broke out in a cold sweat.

It was clearly an old man's voice; she could guess who it belonged to even with her toes!

As the saying goes, "A wise man submits to circumstances." Ji Qian comforted herself with this thought and silently withdrew her left foot, which had already stepped through the door.

She left the room with her head down the whole time, then turned and started running downstairs until she bumped into Mi Yesi, who was about to go upstairs.

Ji Qian was strong and had a lot of energy. If Han Mengyao hadn't been quick to grab Mi Yesi, Mi Yesi would probably have been knocked over.

"Qianqian, what's wrong?"

Han Mengyao noticed that Ji Qian looked flustered. While comforting the still-shaken Mi Yesi, she looked up and asked Ji Qian.

The shock of hitting someone lessened Ji Qian's fear, calming her down considerably:

"The old man in our house spoke!"

As Ji Qian spoke, she kept looking at Han Mengyao and didn't notice that Mi Yesi next to her suddenly looked terrified:

"What old man? Is there a ghost in our house too?!"

"Oh yeah, I forgot about him!"

Two voices rang out at the same time, one of fear and the other of excitement.

Noticing that Ji Qian and Mi Yesi were both looking at her, Han Mengyao, who was excited, quickly suppressed her smile, but she couldn't help but smile back.

She had no choice but to cover her mouth with her hand and cough lightly:

"Well, I mean, let's go check it out, just in case someone gets hurt."

These words sounded so righteous and awe-inspiring that Ji Qian would probably have believed them if she hadn't seen the smile on her lips.

However, Ji Qian's disbelief does not mean that others do not believe it.

Just moments ago, Mi Yesi had looked terrified and even squatted on the ground because her legs were weak. But upon hearing this, she seemed to be injected with adrenaline.

She slowly stood up, holding onto the railing, and looked up at the building. Her first words were full of passionate fervor:

"Sister Meng is right! We can't back down!"

Mi Yesi didn't even use her favorite consonant, which made the sentence sound quite heroic and resolute.

It would have been better if her legs hadn't been shaking so badly.

Seeing that the two of them were about to go and meet that old ghost, Ji Qian, who had the only relevant experience, could not run away and could only resign herself to her fate and follow them upstairs again.

As Ji Qian passed by Xu Qi's room, she subconsciously glanced through the crack in the door and her eyes met Xu Qi's, who was peeking through the door.

Xu Qi was so startled that his hand trembled and he accidentally pushed the door open!

He had been leaning against the door, but lost his support and fell straight onto the hallway floor.

Ji Qian then realized that Xu Qi had unlocked the lock she had put on sometime earlier.

Xu Qi knew something was wrong and was about to quickly climb back into the house when he felt someone grab him by the back of the neck. He looked up and saw that it was indeed Ji Qian.

"Since you've walked right into my trap, don't blame me."

After saying this, Ji Qian dragged Xu Qi back to her room.

Ji Qian was only delayed for a short while, but Mi Yesi and Han Mengyao had already reached the door of the room.

Although Ji Qian was in a hurry when she left, she did not forget to close the door behind her.

Before Mi Yesi could even feel relieved seeing the closed door, she saw Han Mengyao raise her hand to hold the door open, and not forget to turn to her and give her instructions:

"I'll count to three and then I'll push the door open. Get ready."

Mi Yesi hurriedly bent down to tidy up her equipment. Before she could even put on her headphones, she heard Han Mengyao shout loudly:

"one two three!"

After speaking, Han Mengyao pushed the door open forcefully, and then she couldn't wait to look up at the beam.

Sure enough, an old man was hanging from the beam in the center of the room.

Han Mengyao then realized that the old man was much more ferocious than Ji Qian had described.

His face was bluish-gray, his mouth and nose were covered in blood, and his clothes were tattered and torn, as if he had been slashed with a knife.

Noticing someone enter, the old man suddenly raised his eyes and met Han Mengyao's gaze.

Mi Yesi was so frightened by that glance that she collapsed to the ground, trembling as she leaned against the door frame.

[Oh my god, that scared me!]

[Looking for a high-energy person online]

That one glance almost killed me.

The last time I was this scared was the last time...

【Sister Meng is so tough! Aren't you afraid at all?】

[You can question Xu Qi's intelligence, but you can't question my sister Meng's courage.]

[Xu Qi: Thank you.]

Is anyone paying attention to Mi Yesi? I feel like she's about to faint from shaking.

[I don't think this old man looks like a hanged ghost.]

I smell a conspiracy.

Where's my sister Qian? How did she fall behind?

Hey, your sister Qian is jungling in the next livestream!

Han Mengyao remained calm because she did not feel the same bone-chilling cold as the previous two times, which meant that the old man was at least not an evil spirit.

"Who are you, and why are you trespassing on the Qian residence?"

Han Mengyao didn't know what the old man meant by "again," but that didn't stop her from trying to get information out of him:

"My friend and I came here to play, but we got lost. Could you tell me where this place is?"

The old man looked Han Mengyao up and down. Han Mengyao had an innocent and harmless expression, and her eyes were as clear as those of a recent college graduate.

"Little girl, don't you think there's anything strange about me doing this?"

Han Mengyao's overly calm expression left the old man somewhat at a loss. In order to make Han Mengyao see that he was different from others, he even swung his arm to use the momentum to spin around in mid-air.

"What's wrong with that..." Han Mengyao was about to continue trying to bluff her way out of it when Ji Qian's voice interrupted her:

“I saw an old lady at the door.”

Han Mengyao turned around and saw Ji Qian standing at the door, holding Xu Qi, who was on the verge of fainting.

Seeing that the old man's attention was drawn to Ji Qian, Han Mengyao quickly went up and helped Xu Qi to a place outside where the old man could not be seen.

As expected, the old man no longer paid much attention to Han Mengyao; his mind was now entirely focused on what Ji Qian had just said.

"What does the old lady you're talking about look like?"

The old man's voice trembled slightly as he said those words.

Although she had mentally prepared herself, Ji Qian still didn't dare to look the old man in the eye and could only answer his questions with her head down:

"I didn't notice what she looked like, but she wore a bright green beaded flower in her hair, a peach-colored jacket with a light green long skirt, and pink embroidered shoes with two large pearls embedded in them."

Ji Qian genuinely didn't remember what the old lady at the door looked like.

She must have been beaten in the face before she died; the bones in her face were probably broken, and her facial features were almost unrecognizable.

Ji Qian could only roughly guess her age from her gray hair and aged voice.

However, Ji Qian was impressed by her clothes, since even in modern times, it is rare for an old lady to wear such delicate colors.
