Chapter 97 Bewitched

Ji Qian, holding a sickle, looked up at Han Mengyao, who was clearly in the know: "Where did this thing come from?"

Han Mengyao was clearly taken aback by this unexpected turn of events. After a brief moment of stunned silence, she quickly stepped forward to carefully examine Ji Qian's face, only breathing a sigh of relief after confirming that he was unharmed.

“Mimi brought this from China. She said it was for self-defense, but I suspect it was prepared for you.”

After saying that, perhaps worried that it wasn't convincing enough, Han Mengyao added a sentence:

"Mimi said this was custom-made and the weight wasn't right for her, so it was a bit difficult for her to pick it up."

[On the disruptive abilities of straightforward players]

[Haha, that makes perfect sense! Sister Meng, you really aren't leaving Mi Yesi any room for maneuver!]

There was nothing that Mengjie could do; she had already tried to be as tactful as possible, after all, Ji Qian's initials were engraved on the sickle handle.

Mi Yesi's true feelings are obvious to everyone.

[Does Mi Yesi know about this devastating news?]

[I don't know, she's busy packing cosmetics into her suitcase right now.]

Ji Qian weighed the sickle in her hand. Although it was still rather light, it was already quite handy for her.

The sickle is entirely black, with only a delicate gold relief on the handle.

Ji Qian swung the sickle a few times, adjusting it to a suitable position, before looking up at Han Mengyao and saying, "Sister Meng, I'm ready."

"Wait a minute!" Xu Qi suddenly got up from the ground upon hearing this. He grabbed Ji Qian's clothes and asked in a low voice with teary eyes, "Where's the rope?"

"Oh, sorry, I almost forgot." Ji Qian said, taking out the rope she had used to pull Han Mengyao and tying herself and Xu Qi together.

Looking at the rope made of scraps of cloth, Xu Qi expressed some disdain:

"Is this thing sturdy? Maybe we should go back..." Under Ji Qian's threatening gaze, Xu Qi swallowed back the words he was about to say.

Compared to the first time, Ji Qian was noticeably calmer this time, which could also be due to Xu Qi's presence as a foil.

"Qianqian, is he really alright?" Han Mengyao asked worriedly, looking at Xu Qi, who was walking behind her with a pale face like a lost soul.

"It's alright, he's been like this since he was a child. Don't be fooled by his pale complexion, he's actually very resilient."

Ji Qian still believes that it is a miracle that Xu Qi was not eaten by evil spirits at birth.

Hearing Ji Qian say this, Han Mengyao was somewhat relieved.

As Ji Qian reached the corner, she felt a tightening around her waist. She turned around and saw that Xu Qi had squatted down at some point.

Seeing this, Ji Qian was about to call out to Han Mengyao, but found that she had disappeared into the darkness at some point.

Ji Qian hesitated for a moment, then turned back to Xu Qi's side, picked him up and was about to rush into the darkness, but Xu Qi called out to her: "Wait, let's go back first!"

Ji Qian had already run a few steps when she heard this and braked suddenly, almost crashing into the cabinet in the corner.

Out of the trust built up over the years, Ji Qian didn't ask any more questions and turned to run back to the entrance of the banquet hall.

Ji Qian placed Xu Qi on the carpet in the corridor and squatted down, only then noticing that Xu Qi's face had turned from white to pale: "What's wrong?"

Xu Qi answered tremblingly, "That Sister Meng was a fake. The equipment she gave me was faulty." As he spoke, Xu Qi handed his share of the equipment to Ji Qian.

Ji Qian looked over and found that the headlamp and baton, which had been brand new just moments before, were now worn and tattered. A layer of white sweat instantly broke out on her back.

The rubber band on the headlamp strap had long been oxidized and turned to powder at the slightest touch. The coating on the baton was almost completely gone, revealing only the rusty iron core inside.

[Wait a minute, the plot is moving too fast, I can't keep up!]

[Oh my god, my hair stood on end!]

【Huh? Huh?! Ahhhhhh!】

Where did Yao Yao really go? Is she in danger?!

[Waaaaah, Xu Qi, I was wrong. I'll never say you're useless again.]

No wonder Sister Qian insisted on bringing Xu Qi along; Xu Qi is the real big shot!

[With plot twists and suspense, isn't this more entertaining than a horror movie?]

Don't talk nonsense, this is a documentary!

Ji Qian stared at the object in her hand for a few seconds in silence, then raised her hand and pushed open the banquet hall door.

Ignoring the surprised looks from others, Ji Qian turned her gaze directly to the production crew in the distance, and sure enough, she saw Han Mengyao standing next to the assistant director, talking to him.

[Oh my god, so was it really a ghost just now?]

[No one actually believes this, right? This is obviously scripted by the production team!]

[This was my first time watching a live stream, and at first I also thought it was scripted.]

Haha, reality is far more absurd than any script.

[Great! Yao Yao is alright!]

Forget about Yao Yao, look at Xu Qi instead. I feel like he's about to die.

[Haha, Ji Qian was so scared her hair stood on end!]

Who says China doesn't have good horror movies!

The moment Ji Qian saw Han Mengyao, she felt a tingling sensation run from her feet to the top of her head. She dragged Xu Qi, who was already slumped on the ground, into the house and hurriedly closed the door.

"Qian...Qian? What happened to you?"

"Ji Qian, are you alright?"

"Brother Qi? Brother Qi?! Someone come quick, Brother Qi has fainted again!"

Upon hearing Ying Xu's shouts, the production crew rushed forward to check on Xu Qi's condition. After discovering that he had fallen unconscious, they tried to carry him to the makeshift medical room, but before they could even reach out, Ji Qian stopped them, saying, "Don't go out!"

Ji Qian's legs gave way and she sat down on the ground. Now she was struggling to get up, leaning against the wall. Han Mengyao instinctively reached out to help her, but Ji Qian dodged her.
