Chapter 134 Hot Pot Feast

When Zhao Qinglan and the others returned, it was lunchtime, and the shop was very busy.

She and Li Huai didn't even have time to talk before they quickly joined in to help.

On rest days, there are more people eating at the wonton shop than usual.

Although the shop has only been open for a little over a month, it has already become quite famous in the neighborhood because of its delicious food.

Anyone who wants to eat wontons will definitely think of this time-honored snack brand first.

By the time Zhao Qinglan and the others finished their work, it was already two o'clock. There weren't many customers left in the shop, so Sun quickly sent her second daughter to hang up a "Closed" sign outside the shop.

The eldest son-in-law has come all this way, so how could they just focus on doing business?

In the past, Mrs. Sun would have been reluctant to close the shop because of the money, but now, seeing a lot of money coming in every day, she has gradually become more at ease.

Zhao Qinglan was starving because she hadn't had lunch yet, and the children had only eaten a little something to tide them over.

With the door closed, she started thinking about having a big meal with her family.

This feast is hot pot!

What could be a better family gathering than enjoying a hot pot together in the dead of winter?

Because they are making money, the Sun family can now afford to eat better. Although they can't compare to Zhao Qinglan, they eat better than many ordinary families.

Zhao Qinglan looked through the ingredients available in the shop, made a list, and asked her sister to run an errand.

When it comes to hot pot, lamb is naturally the most suitable meat.

Eating mutton in winter is especially nourishing.

Zhao Qingzhu and her sister went out to buy things, so Li Huai squeezed into the kitchen to help Zhao Qinglan.

Seeing that her eldest son-in-law was behaving well as always, Mrs. Sun was very happy.

She had been worried that her eldest son-in-law was just pretending to be nice, and her worries only intensified after Li Zhenhua came to the store.

Fortunately, her daughter was right. The couple had a good relationship. Even though her father-in-law, Li Zhenhua, and her stepmother-in-law were so dissatisfied with her, they couldn't interfere with their family's life.

Knowing that their mother was going to make a delicious hot pot, Erwa and the others were all happy.

Nowadays, the Zhao sisters are quite adept at shopping.

They even found some unknown avenues.

For example, leafy green vegetables grown in our greenhouse, and other meats.

Although the authorities haven't yet encouraged opening up the personal economy, everyone needs to survive, so those without jobs are figuring out their own ways to make a living.

The younger sisters also bought the mutton that Zhao Qinglan wanted.

Looking at the spoils they brought back, she was very satisfied. There were even some ingredients that she hadn't listed on her order, so they could have a delicious hot pot meal.

The mutton came in a large piece, so Zhao Qinglan had no choice but to slice it herself with a knife.

Fortunately, the mutton was frozen, and it was hard as a rock when I brought it back, making it easier to slice.

After watching for a while, Li Huai took the initiative to take over the task of slicing the mutton.

He might not be able to cook a proper dish, but he can definitely peel meat.

After a hectic hour of preparation, they finally got to eat hot pot.

The hot pot is cooked with charcoal, and the pot on top was custom-made by the restaurant later.

Fortunately, Zhao Qinglan had mentioned ordering a copper hot pot before she came, otherwise they really wouldn't have been able to enjoy this hot pot today.

The broth in the pot kept boiling. Li Huai had eaten hot pot in copper pots when he was in the capital, so he was quite familiar with this kind of hot pot.

With his and Zhao Qinglan's demonstration, everyone started excitedly enjoying hot pot.

Because the shop didn't have sesame paste on hand, they could only make a dipping sauce with sesame oil, along with minced garlic and scallions.

Fortunately, it was already quite delicious.

The hot pot meal lasted a full hour. Some customers came to eat wontons and found a sign that said the restaurant was temporarily closed. They were about to leave when they smelled the hot pot aroma wafting out, which smelled amazing.

Some people even speculated that the snack shop might be about to introduce new dishes.

While eating hot pot, Mrs. Sun also asked her daughter about this matter.

The wonton business is doing well now, but Mrs. Sun is worried that customers will get tired of the same thing and her income will decrease in the future.

So, I thought of adding another dish to the shop.

Looking at the still-boiling broth in the copper hot pot, Zhao Qinglan made a decision: she would sell mala tang!

So what if there's not much food available in winter? They'll just cook whatever's available.

As long as the soup base is good and the flavor is delicious, there will definitely be people willing to eat it.

However, making mala tang (a type of spicy hot pot) is not something that can be done immediately. It needs to be done like it was with bone broth wontons before, first making sure that the mother and sisters have fully learned how to make it.

With the Lunar New Year approaching, she didn't want to go through any more trouble before the New Year. She planned to have her mother and sister practice before the New Year and then start making mala tang (a type of spicy hot pot).

After finishing their meal, Zhao Qinglan and the others, fearing they would have to travel at night, quickly set off.

After cleaning up the shop, Mrs. Sun and her two daughters quickly opened the door and continued business.

Even if we earn less, we can still do some business.

This gave her confidence, and she gradually changed from someone who never made decisions.

If Zhao Laoda saw her now, he would never believe that his ex-wife had changed so much.

After watching her daughter and granddaughter leave, Mrs. Sun continued to murmur to herself.

"If you two can find a man who is even half as good as your brother-in-law in the future, I'll be laughing in my sleep."

"Mom, Qingju and I are still so young, let's focus on making money first," Zhao Qingzhu said with a smile.

Having experienced the sense of accomplishment from earning money and working hard, Zhao Qingzhu and her sister's horizons gradually broadened.
