After excitedly discussing with his old comrade-in-arms, Sun Shengli ran off to find Li Huai.
Li Huairen wasn't in his office; he was on the training field tidying up the new recruits who had only recently arrived.
He was already a deputy regimental commander at the age of twenty-eight, which shows his outstanding abilities.
As for the Li family, they treated Li Huai as if he didn't exist, and never offered him any assistance. It was good enough that they didn't hinder his development.
If it weren't for the fact that many of Li Huai's mother's old friends are still alive, Li Huai wouldn't be where he is today.
Li Huairen is usually a man of few words, but when he came over, the company commander in charge of training was almost drenched in sweat.
Seeing the regimental commander arrive, all the soldiers present, except for Li Huai, became increasingly nervous.
It's just basic recruit training, and now the deputy regimental commander has arrived and the regimental commander is here too. What's going on here?
Nodding to the soldiers who saluted him, Sun Shengli walked to Li Huai's side.
"Come here, I have something to tell you."
Could it be about yesterday's incident? I've already answered that myself.
With questions in mind, Li Huai and the regimental commander walked to the edge of the training ground.
"Li Huai, your memory is terrible. I'm not saying this to be mean, but you're not as good as me at such a young age." Luckily, I managed to communicate with Aiguo again.
Li Huai raised an eyebrow. "Commander, what do you mean?"
"What else could it mean? After Comrade Zhao Qinglan learned about your personal situation, she was absolutely certain that you were the one who saved her back then. How could you forget something like that?" Sun Shengli pointed to his finger with a helpless expression.
Now it was Li Huai's turn to be surprised. How could this be? If he was the one who saved her, how come he had no recollection of it at all? This doesn't make sense.
Sun Shengli stopped arguing with him about whether he could be saved or not, and after scolding him, he started to get down to business.
"Didn't you ask your sisters-in-law to help you find a suitable candidate? I think Comrade Zhao Qinglan is quite good."
What is that?
"This woman just got divorced and has a daughter. But she had no choice but to get divorced because her in-laws were no good. She's a nice person, good-looking, hardworking and capable." Sun Shengli began to recount what he had heard from his old comrade-in-arms.
Li Huai interrupted his commander's rambling with a headache. "Commander, I'm not going to look anymore."
"What? You're not going to look for them anymore? What will happen to the two brothers, Da Wa and Er Wa, if you don't look for them?"
"It's alright, I'll just have to work a little harder. I might have to trouble my sister-in-law and the others more in the future." Li Huai was a little embarrassed when it came to the trouble.
"That's it? Li Huai, you can manage now that you don't have any urgent missions, but what if you go out and it takes forever? What are you going to do with the two kids?"
“There are many military spouses in the family quarters, but every family has children. Who can help you all the time? This is not a long-term solution.”
"Besides, once your problem is resolved, the rear area can be stable, and you can focus your mind on your work."
Li Huai understood what the regimental commander was saying, but when he thought of his son's resistance to his stepmother, he lost the will to find her.
In fact, he himself disliked his stepmother very much, simply because he had suffered at her hands before.
He hasn't returned to the Li family home for many years, simply because that home is no longer his home.
"Commander, I know, but Da Wa doesn't want me to remarry. I don't want to hurt the child."
Sun Shengli, who was trying to persuade him, suddenly stopped.
"Sigh, if the child is not happy, that is indeed a problem. Well, maybe it's because the eldest child's mother just left and the child is not used to it yet."
"How about this, you meet Comrade Zhao Qinglan first, and I'll talk to your sister-in-law about Da Wa."
Knowing that his commander meant well, Li Huai didn't say he wanted to refuse.
Well, he figured he might as well meet her. Actually, he was also curious about the woman he had "saved" and wanted to meet her and ask her about her.
As for whether it will work out or not, we'll see. The regimental commander and his wife have been working so hard for me, I can't let them down.
Li Huai made his decision.
Li Aiguo had to go to work, so he and his wife could only go to see Zhao Qinglan after he finished work.
When Li Aiguo talked about it with his old comrade-in-arms, he thought it was a good idea. But after calming down after get off work, he wondered if he had been too abrupt. The other person had just gotten divorced and might not want to find someone right away.
However, when he got home and brought it up, his wife felt that they should ask Qinglan's opinion first before deciding whether it was feasible.
Sure enough, the couple rushed to the guesthouse as soon as they finished their meal.
The two had already come yesterday, and today, they were able to enter smoothly simply by greeting the guesthouse staff.
Seeing them coming over again, Zhao Qinglan felt both welcome and curious.
Didn't I already thank Brother Li and say that I wouldn't need to trouble him again?
Li Aiguo was too embarrassed to bring it up, but his wife gave him a wink, and he suggested taking Xiaoduo out for a walk.
Because of the heartache caused by her daughter's loss in her previous life, Zhao Qinglan, even though she trusts Li Aiguo and his wife, still dares not let him take Xiaoduo out of her sight.
"What's wrong, sister? Tell me, there's no need to let Xiaoduo go out."
"Oh, wouldn't it be inappropriate for Xiaoduo to hear about this?" Sui Wenjing hesitated.
"What's going on that Xiaoduo can't hear?" Zhao Qinglan became even more curious.
However, she insisted, and Sui Wenjing had no choice but to let her husband accompany Xiaoduo to play on the side while she sat down next to Zhao Qinglan.
As soon as she sat down, Sui Wenjing lowered her voice and asked, "Qinglan, do you have any thoughts about your future with Xiaoduo?"
Zhao Qinglan smiled. "Sister Sui, all I want to do is take Xiaoduo away from here and live a good life from now on."
Upon hearing that she wanted to leave, Sui Wenjing felt even more confident in introducing and arranging a match between her and Li Huai.
"That Li Huai, your benefactor, he just got divorced not long ago."
