Chapter 169 I'm Going to Give Birth

Time flies, and September is here in the blink of an eye.

In late August, schools across the country gradually reopened.

Xiao Duo officially became a first-grade student at the military primary school.

The eldest child and the youngest child go to school together every day with their schoolbags, while the second child, who is alone at home, is even more restless.

Once the weather cooled down, the children's popsicle business officially ended.

Erwa often went to the military primary school to audit classes.

Both Da Wa's teacher and Xiao Duo's teacher recognize him. As long as he behaves well and doesn't cause trouble, they can sit down together in the classroom.

Because of his previous popsicle business, even though Erwa was still young and hadn't officially started school yet, there were hardly any students in the military primary school, from first grade to fifth grade, who didn't know him.

He was quite popular among the students; everyone got along with him.

Erwa really liked this feeling. Even though he couldn't sell popsicles anymore, he was thinking about whether he could sell other things.

However, when he brought it up at home, Zhao Qinglan rejected it.

She doesn't object to the children making and selling popsicles to earn money and get some exercise, but they shouldn't become obsessed with money and only know how to sell things all day long.

Although Zhao Qinglan is usually very democratic and respects the children's opinions, Erwa doesn't dare to insist on doing things she opposes.

By September, Zhao Qinglan's belly was getting bigger and bigger, and her due date was getting closer and closer.

Her legs and feet are very swollen, and now even cooking and doing housework are difficult for her.

When Erwa wasn't at school, she was her most capable little helper at home.

Li Huai was also very eager to return home, just in case his wife had any inconveniences at home.

Now when he comes home, he not only works hard, but also washes his wife's feet and massages her feet; he's incredibly considerate.

Because Zhao Qinglan suggested a so-called "prenatal education," he would talk to his wife's belly and read a book to her every day.

Originally, Zhao Qinglan had agreed with her mother that her mother would come over when she gave birth.

After all, Li Huai is a grown man who doesn't understand many things, and he can't guarantee that he'll be there when she gives birth.

However, she did not expect that her mother would arrive with large bags and small packages as soon as September began.

Sun arrived in her son-in-law's car. Li Huai didn't tell Zhao Qinglan that he was coming to the city to pick her up; he just wanted to give her a surprise.

As her due date approached, Zhao Qinglan was naturally a little nervous and anxious, but she was also very happy to see her mother arrive.

But after the initial joy, she became worried.

"Mom, can you stay with me for so many days? What will happen to the shop?"

After all, the snack shop has always been doing very well. Her mother can manage if she's away for a few days, but if she's gone for a long time, her two younger sisters might not be able to keep up.

Sun smiled and said, "You don't need to worry about that. We've hired someone for the shop now."

This shocked Zhao Qinglan. She had previously suggested that the shop hire someone instead of working too hard herself.

However, both the mother and the sisters felt it was unnecessary to waste that money, so why did they suddenly change their minds?

Actually, this is all thanks to Li Huai.

The bigger his wife's belly got, the more anxious he became.

On one of his business trips into the city, he took the opportunity to visit the snack shop and had a good talk with his mother-in-law, Mrs. Sun.

Sun was just timid before, but she may have loved her daughter dearly. Now that she has seen the world and can stand on her own, her relationship with her daughter has become even better.

Her eldest daughter's belly is getting bigger and bigger as she gets older, and she's been keeping an eye on it.

She used to not hire anyone because she felt it was unnecessary, but now that her daughter needs her care, she doesn't mind spending the money to hire someone.

After all, she knew in her heart which was more important, people or money.

In fact, Li Huai even suggested that he hire someone for the shop, but his mother-in-law would need to go to his home to take care of his wife for a while longer.

However, Sun would never let her son-in-law pay for it.

She's overjoyed that her son-in-law cares about her daughter; now the shop is bringing in a good amount of money every month, and her wallet is bulging.

Naturally, Mrs. Sun would not hide from her daughter the things her son-in-law did behind her back.

Zhao Qinglan felt both sweet and touched upon hearing this.

When Mrs. Sun came to our house, we didn't add an extra bed. That night, she slept in the same bed with her granddaughter, Xiaoduo.

With her mother's arrival, Zhao Qinglan's life immediately became more comfortable again.

Sun cooked all sorts of different dishes every day and took care of all the housework, so Zhao Qinglan only needed to focus on her pregnancy.

With reliable elders taking care of things at home, Li Huai can work with a little more peace of mind.

In late September, one evening, Li Huai had just finished washing up and entered the room when he noticed his wife's strange expression.

"What's wrong with Qinglan?"

"I think I'm going into labor."

Startled for a moment, Li Huai immediately panicked, picked her up, and ran outside.

It was thanks to his strong physique that he was able to carry his wife, who had gained a lot of weight after becoming pregnant.

"Mom, Qinglan is about to give birth."

He shouted as he ran out.

On the other side, Sun, who had already lain down, immediately put on her coat and ran outside.

"It's okay, don't worry, put me down, I can walk by myself," Zhao Qinglan said helplessly.

Hearing the commotion, Wu Mei and her husband from next door also came out.

Knowing that Zhao Qinglan might give birth in the next few days, a Jeep was parked outside.

The family had already prepared a large bag containing all the necessary items for the birth, which was also brought into the car. Li Huai drove, and Sun Shi sat in the back with her daughter.

Wu Mei didn't go with them; instead, she went to Zhao Qinglan's house to help look after the three children.

No one can predict how long childbirth will take, so Wu Mei advised Da Wa and the others to continue sleeping.

But at this moment, how could Da Wa and the others possibly fall asleep?

As soon as the car arrived at the military hospital, Zhao Qinglan was quickly taken to the delivery room.

Looking at the tightly closed door, Li Huai paced anxiously in circles.

"Let's just sit and wait. We don't know when Qinglan will be out," Madam Sun advised.

She wasn't as worried as Li Huai.

Sun had given birth more than three times, but she lost one child.

In the village, babies are all born at home.

My daughter is in good health and eating well. She's still in the hospital with doctors and nurses helping her, so she's sure she'll be fine.

Occasionally, Li Huai could hear some sounds coming from inside, and his heart would clench.

Zhao Qinglan's pregnancy looked pretty good; just over an hour after she went in, the baby's cries could be heard coming out.

Li Huai and Madam Sun immediately focused their attention on the doorway.

Shortly after, the operating room door opened, and a nurse came out.

"Mother and baby are safe and sound. Congratulations! It's a healthy baby boy."

Before Sun could ask about the child, Li Huai anxiously asked, "How is my wife?"

"He's a nice person, just a little tired."

Li Huai wanted to go in and take a look, but the nurse stopped him.

Soon, Zhao Qinglan and her child were wheeled out together.

Seeing his wife's hair soaked with sweat, Li Huai felt especially heartbroken.

"Qinglan, thank you for your hard work."

Zhao Qinglan gave a slight smile. "Look, our child." She looked at the swaddled baby beside her.

Looking at his son, who was wrinkled and looked like a little monkey in his swaddling clothes, Li Huai felt a surge of fatherly love.
