Li Huai's feelings were complicated.
Intuitively, he didn't think his wife was a bad person.
Although the wife's reputation in the family quarters wasn't particularly friendly, those close to her knew she was a kind-hearted person.
From the time they met until now, she has done a great job in every aspect.
Whether it's for the sake of the family or for the children.
And she even gave birth to a son for him.
If she approached him intentionally with some ulterior motive, he couldn't imagine what he had that she could exploit.
Family background?
The Li family was no different to him than they were not.
Furthermore, if it were truly for the sake of the Li family's social standing, his wife would not have allowed him to deal with Yu Huimin.
She has always been indifferent to her father and stepmother Yu Huimin, and everything depends on his attitude.
If it's not family background, then it must be money?
That's even more of a joke.
Aside from the courtyard and jewelry left by his mother, all Li Huai had to live on was his monthly allowance.
Moreover, the wife knew nothing about the jewelry and the house before the marriage.
If it's just his allowances, his wife has a good eye for business. The monthly dividends from the snack shop now far exceed his allowances, so she can live well on her own and doesn't need to worry about his allowances.
What else could she possibly be after?
Was she sent from somewhere else?
He had considered this possibility when he first noticed something unusual about his wife.
But her behavior doesn't seem like that of someone who has received professional training.
The paper airplane that aroused his suspicion was not a clue that a professional would leave.
After much thought, she might have her own secrets, but it's unlikely that she would do them to hurt him or the children.
Thinking of this, Li Huai's mood improved somewhat.
But for the time being, he still didn't know how to face his wife.
Never mind, let him calm down first.
Li Huai didn't go home at all at noon.
However, he used to be so busy that he wouldn't go home for lunch, so his family didn't think anything was wrong.
In the afternoon, when it was time to leave work, Li Huai called home to say that he was a bit busy and would be home late.
Zhao Qinglan had just started her teaching career and wanted to study her lesson plans more at home, so she didn't take her husband's overtime work to heart.
When Li Huai returned in the evening, she had already gone to sleep.
This routine of leaving early and returning late continued for several days, and Zhao Qinglan, busy with work and her youngest son, didn't notice.
Until she was eating breakfast that day, her mother looked at her, seemingly wanting to say something but holding back.
"What's wrong, Mom?"
"I'll talk to you later," Mrs. Sun said, glancing at her grandchildren.
After finishing their meal, Zhao Qinglan told Da Wa and the others to go to school first, while she chatted with her current partner.
"Mom, just say what you want to say."
"Qinglan, tell Mom the truth, have you and your son-in-law had a fight?"
"Huh?" Zhao Qinglan was taken aback for a moment, then laughed. "Mom, why would you think that?"
"Mom just feels that things have been strange these past few days. Her son-in-law has been leaving early and coming home late, and he doesn't even come home for lunch."
"Mom, sometimes they're so busy they work like this for days on end. It's good that he can come home every day now."
Thinking back, when he was away on missions for many days at a time, that was a real ordeal for her.
"Are you sure you're alright?"
"No, don't worry."
Hearing her daughter's confirmation, Mrs. Sun finally felt relieved.
Although she spoke confidently to her mother, Zhao Qinglan was actually having doubts in her heart.
Yes, she hadn't even noticed until her mother pointed it out; it seemed like she hadn't spoken to her husband for several days.
When she got up in the morning, her husband had already left. When she went to bed at night, her husband had not yet returned, but she vaguely knew that he had come back and slept.
In the past, would this man have refrained from touching her for so long?
She frowned slightly at the thought.
Did something happen a few days ago that she doesn't know about?
Everyone says there's a seven-year itch, but they've only been married a short time, so it shouldn't be that problem.
As for what problem Li Huai had? She didn't think so either.
He has a very responsible personality. She had just given birth to his child, and he was already looking for someone else outside.
That shouldn't be the case. His activities are limited to the military camp and the family quarters, and there are almost no women in the military camp.
People come and go in the family residential area, and everyone can see what's going on.
She thought and thought, but she still couldn't figure out what was going on.
However, I kept it to myself.
Whatever the problem is, the couple should sit down and have a proper talk.
Good communication is the best way to solve problems.
Li Huai used to be the most eager person to go home after get off work, but now he's almost always the last one to leave.
When a colleague asked him out of curiosity, he said he had something he hadn't finished.
Some people smiled knowingly.
They understood; there must be many children in the family, and the youngest one was always crying and making a fuss, causing no peace when he came home, and he also had to wash diapers and take care of his wife.
These weren't really problems for Li Huai, but he wouldn't bother to explain them anyway.
Since he was just sitting in the office anyway, he decided to read books to enrich himself.
After finishing another book, he glanced at his watch, thinking that everyone at home should be asleep, before closing the book and getting up.
The door to the house was left open for him.
Li Huai tiptoed into the courtyard, washed up, and then went inside.
Seeing that his wife had already fallen asleep, he took off his shoes and got into bed.
I lifted the covers and went inside, closing my eyes to fall asleep, when I heard a noise beside me.
