Chapter 223 Reencounter with the Wang Family

They said they were going to wander around the county town, but there wasn't much to see there. Zhao Qinglan took her daughter and son to find Sui Wenjing, as a way of saying goodbye before leaving.

Sun and her brother strolled around the county town, letting her brother see the old home where she and her parents had lived after they were separated.

With the Lunar New Year approaching, Sui Wenjing also took a holiday.

She warmly welcomed Zhao Qinglan, who brought her two children.

After Sui Wenjing had been there for half a day, Zhao Qinglan figured that since she was just going to be idle at the guesthouse anyway, she decided to take the children to the supply and marketing cooperative to see what they could buy.

As the Lunar New Year approaches, people who have worked hard all year are more generous, buying all sorts of things needed for the holiday.

The supply and marketing cooperative is probably more popular because of the large flow of people, and there are more people setting up stalls outside.

Zhao Qinglan, with her two children, would occasionally wander around and look around.

Although her youngest son can walk now, he is still young and walks slowly, and he is also too short. Zhao Qinglan is afraid that she might accidentally squeeze or step on him when there are many people, so she always holds him in her arms.

As for her daughter, Xiaoduo, although she wasn't holding her, she still told her to hold onto his clothes tightly and not let go.

As they were walking, they heard exclamations from behind.

"Xiao Duo!" As soon as Zhao Qinglan turned her head, she saw her former father-in-law, Old Man Wang, who looked much older.

Upon seeing this person, her expression turned somewhat cold.

"Xiaoduo, it's Grandpa."

Perhaps because of the many changes in his family, or perhaps because his granddaughter Wang Xiaoyan was lost, Old Man Wang was overjoyed to see his granddaughter Xiaoduo.

Xiao Duo didn't have a deep impression of the Wang family. When she was called, she only looked up and asked her mother, Zhao Qinglan, for help.

"Grandpa, why aren't you coming over yet? The people who bought sweet potatoes are waiting for their change." Wang Xiaofei walked over impatiently.

Upon getting closer, they discovered Xiao Duo and Zhao Qinglan, who was holding a child in her arms.

"Why is it you guys?" His face showed no surprise, only gloom.

The ups and downs in his family also helped Wang Xiaofei mature a lot, but it didn't seem to be in a good direction.

Sensing the hostility in Wang Xiaofei's tone, Zhao Qinglan scoffed.

"What, are you the only ones allowed to leave this place, but we're not?"

"Xiao Fei," Old Man Wang called to his grandson.

"You all wait here." With that, he turned and ran.

Actually, Zhao Qinglan didn't want to wait as he suggested, so she tugged at her daughter's sleeve and turned to leave.

"My sister is missing, and my dad is gone too. Are you happy now?"

His sarcastic tone made Zhao Qinglan feel annoyed.

"If I remember correctly, Wang Xiaoyan ran away from home with you and then disappeared, right? And your father, didn't he run away on his own? If you want to blame someone, blame yourselves."

"If it weren't for you, would my family have ended up like this?" Wang Xiaofei said indignantly.

Sure enough, no matter what, the Wang family always blamed others for everything.

Some people can improve over time, while others remain as bad as ever; it's a fundamental problem.

"Think what you want." She knew that Wang Xiaofei's thinking was already biased, and that saying anything more would be a waste of breath.

Besides, why should she care what he thinks? They're all insignificant people.

Just then, Old Man Wang ran back.

"Here you go, Xiaoduo, this is a roasted sweet potato, it's still warm." He said, handing over a steaming sweet potato wrapped in paper.

Xiao Duo didn't dare to accept it and looked at Zhao Qinglan again.

"Keep it for yourselves." After saying that, Zhao Qinglan left without lingering, carrying her son and daughter.

Old Man Wang's expression immediately turned dejected.

Seeing his grandfather's expression, Wang Xiaofei got angry, snatched the roasted sweet potato from his hand, threw it on the ground, and stomped on it twice to vent his anger.

"Why should we give them food? I'd rather throw it away than give it to them."

"Xiao Fei." Old Man Wang said in surprise.

"If it weren't for her, our family wouldn't be in this state." After saying that, Wang Xiaofei ran away.

Looking at the crushed roasted sweet potatoes on the ground, Old Man Wang smiled bitterly.

It's true that their family has had a series of misfortunes since their daughter-in-law Zhao Qinglan left, but ultimately, is it all Zhao Qinglan's fault?

The grandson listened to his wife's curses every day; his heart ached. He glanced at Zhao Qinglan and her daughters, who had already walked away, and sighed before leaving.

Although she didn't care about Wang Xiaofei, his words still affected Zhao Qinglan's mood.

Perhaps sensing that she was unhappy, Sanwa, who had been quiet just moments before, suddenly hugged her neck tightly.

"Mom, smile."

"Mom, I don't crave sweet potatoes," Xiaoduo quickly added.

Looking at her son and then at her daughter, Zhao Qinglan smiled. "Come on, Mom will go buy you some delicious food."

They wandered around, and when they returned to the guesthouse, their hands were full of all kinds of food.

Sun and her brother had already returned from outside and were somewhat surprised to see them bring back so many things.

"Why did you buy so much?" Mrs. Sun hurriedly took it.

"I thought you and your uncle might not have tried it before, so I bought some of each to try."

Zhao Qinglan didn't mention the incident with the grandmother and grandson at all.

However, when Zhao Qinglan went to the toilet, Xiao Duo secretly complained to Madam Sun and Sun Guangming.

Xiaoduo is now in the third grade and can express herself very clearly.

She could even repeat almost everything Wang Xiaofei said.

Sun Shi and Sun Guangming's expressions were naturally not very pleasant.

However, since Zhao Qinglan didn't say anything, they pretended not to know.

If we weren't living in a society governed by law, Sun Guangming would really want to go and do something for the Wang family.

Listen to what your niece's stepson is saying; he's clearly holding a grudge.
