Li Zhenhua thought his eldest son was finally willing to mend their relationship, but standing outside the compound, he was probably torn between going in or not.
Li Huai hadn't expected it to be such a coincidence; he had only been waiting for Zhang Yu for a short while when he ran into Li Zhenhua.
"Don't flatter yourself. I'm here to see Zhang Yu," he said bluntly.
When his misunderstanding and surprise were exposed, Li Zhenhua only paused for a moment before giving a wry smile.
"Now that you're back, why don't you come home and sit for a while? By the way, where are the children?" He looked around.
"No need to look anymore, I came here by myself, I'm not going back to that house."
He had barely finished speaking when Zhang Yuren walked over.
Upon seeing Li Zhenhua, he looked slightly embarrassed, but still greeted him.
"Let's go." Li Huai got up and left.
Zhang Yu could only nod to Li Zhenhua and then leave.
"Commander? What are we doing now?" the guard asked hesitantly.
With a sigh, Li Zhenhua leaned back in his seat. "Let's go home."
However, after the car stopped in front of his house, he suddenly said something.
"Check where Li Huai is staying now."
"It's the commander."
As soon as Li Zhenhua got out of the car, Yu Huimin was already standing at the door solicitously.
"Old Li is back. Are you hungry? I'll cook for you."
"I've already eaten, no need." His expression was somewhat indifferent.
Yu Huimin sensed something was wrong and quickly looked at the guard following behind her, but the guard just kept his head down and didn't respond to her.
Ever since he stopped trusting his wife Yu Huimin, Li Zhenhua has warned everyone around him that they are not allowed to reveal anything about him to his wife without his permission, nor can they use his connections or relationships to do anything.
Without Li Zhenhua, what would Yu Huimin be? Naturally, the guards dared not say anything.
Li Zhenhua is in a bad mood right now because of his eldest son.
When he sat down, he couldn't see his young son, so he couldn't help but ask.
"Where's Li Wei? What's he up to this time?"
"Xiaowei went to see his friend." Actually, she didn't know what her son had gone to do; she just embellished the story to avoid being scolded by her husband.
"Keep him away from his shady friends." He couldn't recall his youngest son having any decent or capable friends.
Li Wei, whom they were talking about, had just suffered a major blow in his life.
The money he painstakingly scraped together from his mother, along with the money he managed to borrow himself, was all swindled away by the people he considered his good buddies.
He couldn't believe that his good friend, who used to call him brother every day, eat and drink with him, and talk about having good connections and getting rich with him, had just run off with the money and disappeared.
This was even more unacceptable to him than when he feigned illness to avoid going to the battlefield and almost got into trouble.
After all, he did it voluntarily that time, but this time, he was truly deceived by someone he trusted.
The thought of his mother constantly asking him how his business was going every time he went home gave him a huge headache.
Thinking about it this way, he was even less inclined to go home.
Zhang Yu caught up with Li Huai and quickly put his arm around his shoulder to ask him questions.
"Seriously, how did you and your father run into each other? Did you tell him you were back?"
"Do you think I would tell him?" Li Huai glanced at him.
"That's true, you two are really destined to be together." He laughed.
"Alright, stop joking around. I called you out here to talk about serious business."
"Then let's go to your place? It's already the 29th today, everything outside is closed."
Oh right, Li Huai forgot about that.
However, Li Huai immediately glared at him. "Don't you have a house outside too? Aren't you going to take me to see it?"
Zhang Yu touched his nose and smiled sheepishly.
"I lent my house to someone else a few days ago, so let's go to your place instead."
Judging from his friend's expression, Li Huai sensed something was wrong, but since his friend didn't say anything, he didn't press the matter.
When they returned, Zhao Qinglan prepared some snacks for them to enjoy with their drinks.
The two began to talk about the businesses Zhang Yu was involved in.
"If you really enjoy doing these things, you should seriously consider it in the future. You'll definitely have to sacrifice one of them."
Zhang Yu swirled the wine glass in his hand.
"I know that once the New Year is over, I'll tell my family the truth, and I might have to stay home for quite a few days then," he said with a self-deprecating laugh.
"Speak properly, don't argue with your uncle and aunt."
“My mom is okay, but my dad is the one who really wants me to make something of myself. But I have to give up what he sees as a bright future. Do you think he can understand that?”
Li Huai really didn't know what to say.
"Since we're going to have to go through this sooner or later anyway, I might as well make things clear sooner so they can be mentally prepared."
"Whatever you do, I'll support you," Li Huai said.
Zhang Yu laughed and punched him lightly. "Thanks, buddy."
Meanwhile, Zhao Qinglan also began to learn about Wei Hong's current boyfriend.
“He’s been very good to me. This year, he wanted me to go back to his home with him for the New Year, but I didn’t think it would be appropriate, so I didn’t go.” After all, they are still students, and she was afraid that if she went with him, she would be looked down upon in the future.
Actually, it was because of a failed marriage that she regained her confidence after getting into university, but she still felt somewhat inferior when it came to matters of the heart.
"It's fine if we don't go. We can see more and get to know each other better," Zhao Qinglan agreed.
Dating in school is very different from dating after school; there are too many problems to face.
Wei Hong has already been hurt once, and she hopes that Wei Hong can be more cautious this time.
