Not to mention Yu Huimin, even Li Zhenhua turned pale because of his daughter-in-law Zhao Qinglan's pointed remarks.
Seeing his wife defend him so fiercely, Li Huai couldn't help but chuckle, but he was also deeply moved and happy.
"How could you do this?" Yu Huimin pointed at Zhao Qinglan, her hand trembling slightly.
"What I do is none of your business. Mind your own business."
Zhao Qinglan truly loathed Yu Huimin.
"Li Huai, aren't you going to do anything about her?" Li Zhenhua said angrily.
Li Huai almost rolled his eyes at him. "What do I care? Qinglan said what I meant,"
"Fine, fine." Li Zhenhua laughed in exasperation.
He really couldn't stay any longer, so he turned to his wife beside him. "Let's go."
Yu Huimin glared at Zhao Qinglan before leaving with her husband.
After they left, Zhao Qinglan spat out a curse. "What a bunch of idiots."
Li Huai laughed. "I just realized how important I am to my wife."
Thinking about what she had just said, Zhao Qinglan felt a little embarrassed. "What's wrong? I just said it in a moment of anger."
When they got home, Mrs. Sun immediately started asking them questions.
Are you alright?
"Don't worry, Mom, we didn't lose out. The person is already gone."
"It's good that we didn't suffer any losses." Mrs. Sun breathed a sigh of relief.
Sun Guangming, however, seemed to be thinking more deeply, and looked at Li Huai. "What are they planning to do?"
"They said they wanted to meet Da Wa and the others," Li Huai replied.
“Your stepmother is no pushover,” Sun Guangming pointed out immediately.
“Uncle, you’re really something. That woman is very cunning,” Zhao Qinglan said.
"Now that they know about this place, what are you planning to do?" Old Master Dou was a little worried for Li Huai.
"Grandpa Dou, don't worry. This house used to belong to my mother, but now it belongs to Qinglan. They won't succeed no matter what they try."
Li Huai was confident about this. Perhaps Yu Huimin really wanted to do something, but with Li Zhenhua's pedantic and face-saving nature, would he let that woman Yu Huimin accomplish it?
Li Zhenhua and his wife got into the car with grim expressions.
On the way home, Yu Huimin did indeed test the waters.
"It's one thing if they don't like me, but why treat you like this too?" She seemed to be defending her husband.
Li Zhenhua sighed, not wanting to talk about why things had turned out this way.
"By the way, if they go back, will that courtyard just stay empty?"
Li Zhenhua actually knew this. "No, it's the oldest man who came back with them; he usually lives there."
"Ah, letting an outsider stay here?" Yu Huimin said with a surprised look.
Yes, the thought of letting outsiders live there year-round without his own father knowing makes Li Zhenhua uncomfortable.
Would he really steal his own son's house?
Maybe he won't, but who knows what his good wife and son are thinking?
Seeing her husband's displeasure, Yu Huimin started to stir things up again.
"I really don't know what Li Huai is thinking. Can outsiders be as trustworthy as family members?"
"I won't mention him anymore." Just thinking about it makes me angry.
The thought that even his three grandsons were extremely distant from him made Li Zhenhua feel even more distressed.
Does this mean he'll never have another chance to get close to his grandchildren?
Although Yu Huimin wanted to say more, she could only swallow her words after her husband had already spoken.
Leaning against the wall, she felt a surge of resentment as she thought about how she had been bullied by a junior and hadn't been able to say a word back.
If her husband hadn't been there, would she have allowed Zhao Qinglan to be so smug?
Where does this country woman get her confidence? She's really gone too far.
Not long after they left, Zhang Yu arrived, along with his sister Zhang Qing.
"Brother Li Huai, it's been a long time." Zhang Qing said with a smile.
"Yes, it's been a long time," Li Huai said politely.
Beside her, Zhao Qinglan pinched her husband's waist hard.
If Li Huai hadn't been able to hold back, he would have cried out.
Why does the vinegar smell not go away, but instead get stronger?
After greeting everyone, Zhang Qing looked at Zhao Qinglan beside her. "Hello, sister-in-law."
"Hey, hello." Zhao Qinglan smiled, showing no trace of the fierceness she had displayed when she twisted her waist just now.
Zhao Qinglan was initially wary of Zhang Qing, but after talking with her for a long time, she realized that she might have really misunderstood.
Zhang Qing doesn't really have any romantic feelings for her husband; she simply respects and admires him. He seems to be more curious about her.
Moreover, Zhang Qing already has a fiancé and will be getting married soon.
Zhang Yu came in such a hurry because he brought the latest information he had found.
"That Li Wei, tsk tsk, I found out that the person who tricked him into doing business with them ran off with the money a long time ago."
"Li Wei's money has all been stolen?"
"That's right. I heard he borrowed quite a bit from outside."
They're really more trouble than they're worth. But seeing that the couple still have time to come here today, I guess they don't know about this yet.
"Li Zhenhua brought that woman over around lunchtime," Li Huai told the truth.
"Oh, she still has the nerve to come here? How can she be so shameless?" Zhang Qing exclaimed in shock.
Because of Zhang Qing's dislike for Huimin, Zhao Qinglan found common ground with her, and their relationship became even closer.
The two of them started to huddle together and complain about the bad things that happened to Huimin and her son.
Seeing how intimate the two were so soon after meeting, Li Huai couldn't tell at all of the jealousy that had tormented him last night. He found it both funny and helpless.
