Chapter 263: Homecoming

The day after Zhao Qinglan had dinner with her colleagues, she boarded a train home.

She took all her spoils with her, and left the rest at the post office.

Zhang Yu accompanied Xiao Wang all the way to the train station before leaving.

As for when she gets home, someone will naturally pick her up.

She arrived full of curiosity and anticipation, but now she is eager to return home.

Those in the family, too, must miss her.

After seeing her off onto the train and watching it depart, Zhang Yu found a place to call Li Huai.

"Sister-in-law, I've seen you off to your car. Remember to pick me up."

"Do you need to emphasize that my wife is my wife?"

After exchanging a few more words, Li Huai hung up the phone.

Although he was still working in the office, his mind was already wandering.

When he got home from get off work, he told the children that Zhao Qinglan had boarded the train and would be back soon, and the children cheered.

"Finally, I can eat Mom's cooking!" Erwa said happily.

The older child patted his younger brother on the head. "All you ever do is eat."

Erwa glared at his older brother, unconvinced. "Brother, then don't eat the food Mom made."

The older child started chasing and playing with his younger brother.

Xiao Duo giggled as she looked at her younger brother, who was also happy that his mother was coming back but was too lazy to express it. She found the contrast very cute and couldn't help but pinch her brother's cheek, only to be helplessly resisted by the three children.

With four children in the family, all of them are quite a handful, even for the adults.

Finally, Li Huai shouted, and the two kids quieted down and quickly ran to do their homework.

They've just started their winter break, and they have so much homework. They should hurry up and do as much as they can so that when Mom comes back, they can eat delicious food and play games.

Seeing that the children were behaving themselves, Li Huai, whose head was throbbing from all the noise, finally had the energy to do other things.

His wife is coming back soon, so he has to make a good impression.

Looking around the room, hmm, it's time to tidy up. Maybe I should take all the sheets and blankets off and wash them.

In this freezing weather, even though his family has a washing machine, it's still quite difficult to wash large items with a washing machine these days, and he still has to wash some by hand.

But Li Huai was full of motivation and enjoyed doing it.

Zhao Qingzhu, who lives next door, went to the yard and saw how hard her brother-in-law was working. When she got back, she nudged her husband.

"Look at your brother-in-law, learn from him." Zhou Jingsheng, who was holding his daughter and playing with her, was completely confused. Learn what?

Actually, Zhou Jingsheng is a fairly qualified husband, but there are better role models right in front of him, so Zhao Qingzhu just teased him.

As for the Sun family, these celestial beings live in the city.

Zhao Qinglan went south to Shenzhen. Sun was worried about her daughter's shop, so as soon as Zhao Qinglan left, she went into the city and casually visited both shops whenever she had free time, which was also a way of helping her daughters.

Aside from her youngest daughter's marriage, she really has nothing else to worry about now.

And so, her older brother has taken over the matter of finding a boyfriend for his little girl. Last time they talked on the phone, he said he had a good target and that they would have a chance to meet if his little girl went to Beijing.

Sun naturally trusted her brother's judgment, and presumably the suitable partner he found was also quite good in terms of personal qualities.

But the people her brother had his eye on were all in the capital. She worried that if her little girl met them and they actually got together, she would have to stay in the capital.

The distance is so far that she can't bear to leave it, and now she's not so enthusiastic about it anymore.

Little did she know that Sun Guangming had taken on this task specifically so that his sister wouldn't want her daughter to live in the capital.

Because of this, Mrs. Sun also felt that she should spend more time with her little daughter whenever she had the chance.

In fact, both older sisters have their own families now, and Zhao Qingju has gone from being unaccustomed to it at first to having become more used to it.

Zhao Qinglan now spends a lot of time in the city, and she can see her mother, second sister, and nephew from time to time when they come to the city. In fact, Zhao Qinglan feels that she is living a pretty comfortable life now.

Zhao Qinglan finally arrived at her destination amidst the anticipation of her family.

As soon as she went outside, she saw her husband and their four children following beside him.

"Why did you all come?" Zhao Qinglan laughed.

Li Huai and Da Wa each took a bag from her hand.

"Wow, my eldest son is so sensible." Zhao Qinglan teased.

The older child was a little embarrassed.

"Mom, you've changed!" Erwa exclaimed.

"How do I look, Mom?" Zhao Qinglan turned around.

"Mom looks so good, and she's so stylish," Xiaoduo commented.

"Mom bought you all some stylish new clothes. Come on, let's go home and see them."

"Oh, time to go home!" Erwa called out.

The children's eyes lit up at the mention of new clothes, and the third child's short legs quickened their pace.

They did not go directly to their family home in the district, but instead went back to their home in the city first.

Although Zhao Qinglan mailed many things that she couldn't carry, her bag still contained quite a few items.

As soon as they entered the house, they opened their bags and started sorting things out.

At home, Mrs. Sun was waiting for them.

Seeing the children cheering, he smiled helplessly and then called everyone to eat.

Li Huai drove the four children into the city. Zhao Qingzhu didn't come because she was worried that Nannan would get cold, and Zhao Qingju was also staying at the shop.

The house in the city was spacious enough for them, so the whole family stayed there that night.

Having not seen his wife for several days, Li Huai also expressed his longing through his actions.

Zhao Qinglan was so tired she almost cursed; it was truly a bittersweet experience.

Because of this, she completely forgot to discuss with her husband the fact that Zhang Yu had a girlfriend.

After a good night's sleep at home, feeling refreshed, Zhao Qinglan took her daughter to the shop.

As for the three brothers, they finally had a holiday and were playing wildly in the yard.

Zhao Qinglan figured her daughter was free anyway, so she took her out with her.

As for Li Huai, he got up early and drove back to the army base; he still had work to do.

After entering the twelfth lunar month, the business of military-civilian cooperation is even more booming than usual.

Zhao Qinglan was initially worried that something might happen to the store while she was away for several days.

When she went over and saw it, she was completely relieved; it was running just fine without her.

With someone available to run the shop, she can focus on other things in the future.

Come to think of it, she's a boss; as long as she knows how to use people effectively, she can relax.

Although the store operates normally with or without her, the staff still feel more secure knowing she's back.

After everyone finished their work, Zhao Qinglan announced the employee benefits for the New Year, which made everyone extremely happy.

Military spouses who work in both military and civilian sectors are now the envy of everyone in their family communities. Some of them even earn more than their husbands and have become the pillars of their families.

This has led everyone to hope that the military-civilian joint venture can expand its scale or open new stores, so that more jobs can be created.

Even those in the group who benefited from the profit sharing are wondering if Zhao Qinglan will be able to open another new store.

Zhao Qinglan was aware of everyone's demands, but she didn't plan to make a big fuss about it anytime soon.

By the time she gets to the big stage, the policies will probably have changed again.
