Chapter 267: Invited by Parents

When it got really dark, Zhao Qinglan couldn't sit still any longer and went out to look for it.

She had just reached the door when she saw her son's familiar figure.

"Where have you been running off to so late instead of going home?" Zhao Qinglan asked anxiously as she ran to her son's side.

She had barely finished speaking when she saw her son's bruised face.

"Big Brother, what's wrong with you?" she exclaimed.

"Mom, it's nothing. I just ran into a few idiots who wanted to pick a fight with me, so I got into a fight with them." He sounded a little guilty as he said this.

"Are you hurt anywhere else? Come on, let's go to the hospital for a check-up." She looked worried.

"Mom, I'm fine. I'm not hurt at all, just some minor external injuries." Seeing that his mother wasn't angry, Da Wa breathed a sigh of relief.

He wasn't afraid of fighting or getting hurt, but he was afraid of his mother getting angry when he got home.

"Whether you're injured or not isn't up to you to decide." After saying that, she quickly went back into the house to get some money, then put on her coat and dragged her eldest child to the hospital.

Some internal injuries can't be detected overnight; she can't be at ease without a proper examination.

The eldest child had no choice but to let Zhao Qinglan, his mother, make the decisions.

Zhao Qinglan wasn't afraid to spend money. After taking her eldest child to the hospital, she had him undergo various tests, basically doing every test that was possible for him.

Some results are available immediately, while others require waiting for the results to come out.

However, since there was no bad news after the results were announced, Zhao Qinglan finally felt a little relieved.

It was only at this point that she had the mind to ask about her son's fight.

Thanks to the good foundation of trust that Zhao Qinglan and the children had built up in the past, Da Wa didn't hide it from her.

Zhao Qinglan is a person who clearly distinguishes right from wrong and dares to love and hate. Since the fault does not lie with her son, then her son's actions were simply self-defense.

But she still asked a few more questions. "Those guys, were they alright after you beat them up?"

Although Da Wa's actions were in legitimate self-defense, it would still be troublesome if he had seriously injured those students.

The eldest child quickly shook his head. "No, I was careful." Actually, this was something his father, Li Huai, had taught and reminded him of.

Self-defense is fine, but don't go so far as to kill.

Li Huai didn't want his two sons to repeat the same mistakes, but he also didn't want to hear the news that his sons had caused trouble for others.

Hearing this, Zhao Qinglan felt even more relieved.

Where is Cheng Tao?

"Cheng Tao went back to his home."

Cheng Tao, who was being questioned by Zhao Qinglan, was standing in front of his parents being interrogated.

His parents are very busy and rarely home, which is why he always tries to freeload meals.

Cheng Tao thought his parents wouldn't come home early today, so he planned to invite his eldest son over to play. Little did he know that he would see his parents as soon as he got home after a fight.

His injuries naturally did not escape his parents' notice.

"Tell me, what happened?" Mr. Cheng frowned, while Mrs. Cheng looked at her son with a worried expression.

Cheng Tao's eyes darted around, and he grinned mischievously. "Dad, don't be angry. I didn't cause any trouble. My classmate and I were just leaving school when some troublemakers cornered us. We didn't want to fight; we just wanted to run away."

"Unexpectedly, those troublemakers kept chasing us and wouldn't let go. We had no choice but to fight them."

"Tao Tao, is there anything that's bothering you?" Cheng's mother finally couldn't help but ask.

"Mom, I'm fine, but those boys, hehe, we gave them a good lesson."

"You're proud of getting into a fight?" Mr. Cheng sneered.

"Dad, they're deliberately causing trouble for us. I'm being forced into this situation, Mom, don't you think?" He turned to his mother for help.

Cheng's mother stepped in promptly. "Alright, alright, since it wasn't Tao Tao's fault, let's just let it go. I'll check him over first."

Because she is a doctor, she wouldn't feel at ease unless she examined the patient herself.

As Cheng Tao followed his mother, his father suddenly asked, "How many people were in the fight?"

"There were two of us, and six or seven of them." He said it with a hint of pride.

No sooner had he finished speaking than Mr. Cheng slammed his hand on the table.

"Cheng Tao, it's one thing for you to fight, but how did you learn to lie! What did I teach you?"

Cheng Tao shuddered at his father's sudden outburst of anger.

Beside her, Cheng's mother also gently shook her head at her son.

Cheng Tao suddenly realized why his parents were acting this way.

“Dad, I didn’t lie, there’s a reason.”

"What's the reason that the two of you could beat six or seven people?" Mr. Cheng sneered.

Cheng Tao shrugged helplessly. "Your son is indeed not very good at fighting, but I have a good friend who can fight." He looked smug when he mentioned this.

Seeing that he didn't seem to be lying, the Cheng couple exchanged a glance, and then Mr. Cheng asked, "What friend?"

"I ate at Li Yansen's house, the one I mentioned before."

When Cheng Tao brought this up, the Cheng couple felt a little guilty.

Both of them were busy with work and couldn't take care of their child. The child always ate elsewhere. Later, they started paying for meals at a restaurant called Junminhe and heard that the food was quite good, which made them feel a little more at ease.

The couple did have some recollection of the name Li Yansen.

"How come he's so good at fighting?" Mr. Cheng asked, while also feeling a little worried.

While it can't be said to be absolute, most of the bad kids who are good at fighting are good-for-nothings, and he was worried that his son would be influenced by bad friends.

“Dad, Li Yansen is a kid from the military family compound. He’s been training since he was little.”
