Chapter 284 The Resentful Husband Demands Compensation

Living in my own courtyard is definitely much more comfortable than living in that apartment building in the residential area.

Zhao Qinglan had originally planned to stay for a few days and then go back with the children, but once she settled in, she became too lazy to move.

She doesn't mention going back, and the children certainly won't.

Mrs. Sun also wished that her daughters and granddaughters could stay by her side, so she didn't urge them to go back.

When Li Huai returned home, he heard laughter coming from the courtyard before he even entered the house, and his heart ached a little.

He was all alone over there, while his wife and children were living so happily here. Just thinking about it made him feel miserable.

Li Huai was standing sadly in front of his house when Da Wa, whom Zhao Qinglan had sent out to buy things, bumped into him.

"Dad, what are you doing standing here?" The eldest son asked, looking quite surprised, as he held a soy sauce bottle in his hand.

Li Huai was in a bad mood. "What, can't I even stand in front of my own house? If you can't speak properly, then don't speak at all."

The eldest son scratched his head, utterly speechless. Why was he so angry? "Mom needs soy sauce for cooking, I'm going to go buy some." With that, he grabbed the bottle and ran off.

In the courtyard, Sun heard voices coming from the doorway and went over. She was pleasantly surprised to see Li Huai walk in.

"Qinglan, your son-in-law has arrived."

"Huh? Whose son-in-law?" Zhao Qinglan peeked out from the kitchen with a puzzled look, only to meet her somewhat resentful husband's eyes.

"Oh, what brings you here?" She ran out of the house.

"If I don't come soon, you might forget about me," he said sourly.

Zhao Qinglan chuckled, "Your complaining tone makes me feel guilty."

“I’m just a resentful husband,” Li Huai said sullenly.

Not wanting to disturb her daughter and son-in-law's bonding time, Mrs. Sun quickly went inside, and also told the children not to go out for the time being.

"Alright, alright, it's my fault. I shouldn't have stayed away for so long. I'll cook you something delicious," Zhao Qinglan said with a smile.

“I need compensation,” Li Huai suddenly said.

"What kind of compensation?" Zhao Qinglan asked, puzzled.

"You'll find out tonight," he said in a low voice.

Zhao Qinglan glanced at him before walking into the kitchen, and Li Huai followed her.

Li Huai has two days to rest this time, and he plans to stay here for two days before going back.

The children were quite happy when he arrived. Although he was usually a rather strict father, he was incredibly kind to his children.

With his arrival, Da Wa and Er Wa were once again forced to undergo training, much to the children's dismay. They were extremely grateful that he would only stay for two days.

That evening, Li Huai demanded compensation from his wife, Zhao Qinglan.

The next morning, Zhao Qinglan almost couldn't get out of bed. Holding her back, she lamented that she was getting old and that this man was no human when he was being a beast.

She missed breakfast that morning, and when she went out again, she felt that her mother and sister were looking at her with a different meaning. Because of this, she secretly pinched her husband's waist a lot.

Li Huai was fortunate to have strong self-control, otherwise he would have embarrassed himself in front of everyone.

Cheng Tao came over to play with Da Wa and get a free meal, and finally met his good friend's soldier father.

To be honest, Cheng Tao admired soldiers quite a bit, so he was very respectful to Li Huai as soon as he met him, and even had some questions for him.

Li Huai naturally heard his wife mention Cheng Tao, and his attitude towards him was quite amiable.

So when the eldest and second children were called to the yard to exercise, Cheng Tao was also given special attention.

The older and younger children were fine; they had been disciplined by their father quite a bit before. But this was the first time for Cheng Tao. Even though Li Huai had been very lenient with him, Cheng Tao began to question his life after the training ended.

Seeing that he looked utterly hopeless while eating, the two older children were secretly gloating.

After finishing his meal, Cheng Tao made an excuse that he had something to do at home and immediately ran away.

Actually, the eldest child hadn't had a chance to tell his friend that his father would be leaving soon.

After this fright, Cheng Tao didn't come to their house for three whole days.

This also led to Cheng Tao always having a psychological shadow and being very afraid of Li Huai whenever he met his uncle later.

After Li Huai finished his vacation and left, Zhao Qinglan also received a letter from Wei Hong.

Wei Hong hasn't contacted her recently; she's actually not doing too well.

Her boyfriend, whom she had been dating for a long time, broke up with her for various reasons around graduation, which made Wei Hong quite sad.

However, she also had good news: her roommate Jin Hui helped her out, and Wei Hong was assigned to Beijing.

Just as Zhao Qinglan was thinking that she hadn't seen Wei Hong in a long time and wondered when she would be able to go to the capital to see her, the opportunity came.

Under pressure from his family to get married, Zhang Yu, who had been struggling with his marriage problems, finally came out. Although his family thought his girlfriend was not a good match, they were glad that their son had finally found someone, so they stopped being picky and urged the two of them to get married.

Sure enough, Li Huai and Zhao Qinglan received invitations to a wedding banquet.

Li Huai was determined to attend his longtime best friend's wedding, and Zhao Qinglan, now friends with Zhang Yu, would naturally go as well.

The couple were both going to the capital, so how could they leave their children behind?

As soon as the family was about to leave, Mrs. Sun and her youngest daughter, Qingju, couldn't sit still and followed.

Sun wanted to visit her brother in the capital, while Zhao Qingju wanted to meet her boyfriend.

Even in a long-distance relationship, it's not good to see each other for too long, as problems are likely to arise.

When they set off for the capital, their entourage was truly enormous.

With Li Huai's help, they were able to buy sleeper tickets smoothly. Fortunately, it wasn't around Chinese New Year, so train tickets weren't in such high demand, which allowed them to all get sleeper tickets.

After the family boarded the train and left, Zhu Kexin finally found her way to the provincial military region.
