Because Li Huai had surprised Zhu Kexin, she was momentarily bewildered.
Li Huai, on the other hand, showed no change in expression upon seeing Zhu Kexin.
"What do you want to see me about? Tell me now," he said calmly.
Although Li Huai looks younger and more energetic than before, he has experienced a lot in the past few years, and due to his wife's peculiar "experiences," his mind is no longer that of an ordinary person, and his whole temperament is completely different.
He was just speaking normally, but Zhu Kexin sensed a hint of authority in him.
She paused for a moment, then quickly composed herself. "Li Huai, long time no see."
She wanted to first appeal to his emotions, and then proceed gradually.
Unfortunately, Li Huai didn't give her that chance, showing some impatience as he said, "Just say what you have to say, I'm busy and don't have time to waste on you."
Zhu Kexin looked rather embarrassed, then put on a pitiful expression.
"Li Huai, do you resent me because of my departure back then?"
Li Huai frowned; this woman was really troublesome.
“I admit that I was a bit heartless when I left, but I was young back then, and everyone makes mistakes. I was also deceived by Xue Jingxue.”
The more she talked, the more she felt like a victim herself. She had initially been acting with only three parts genuine emotion and seven parts acting, but once she started speaking, some of her true feelings began to show.
"Stop. If you're going to talk about what happened back then, there's no point in continuing. What happened back then is in the past. Whether it was right or wrong, I don't want to bring it up again. Now you're just a stranger to me, do you understand?"
Li Huai interrupted her and quickly stated his position, otherwise he was afraid that this woman would keep nagging.
Now he even misses the Zhu Kexin who used to be aloof and arrogant, and who would barely say a few words to him all day.
Zhu Kexin looked bewildered, completely unexpected that even after she had acted so weak and pitiful, the man in front of her would still treat her this way.
She's been to the military region so many times, is this all she's going to do?
Thinking about how she ran away from Zhao Qinglan that day, her competitive spirit resurfaced.
She refused to believe that Li Huai could be so heartless towards her after she had completely humbled herself.
Thinking about it, she bit her lip and said, "Even if I was wrong, we still have Yan Sen and Yan Xun. I am their biological mother. I just wanted to come back and see them. What did I do wrong?"
As she spoke, she lowered her head and began to sob, unintentionally sowing discord between Zhao Qinglan and others.
To be honest, Li Huai was afraid of women crying in front of him, and Zhu Kexin crying in front of him made him even more irritated.

Zhu Kexin started to panic. "No, back then..."
"Alright, Zhu Kexin, there's a limit to your shamelessness. Over the years, Qinglan has taken good care of and taught Dawa and Erwa. She has also fulfilled her responsibilities as a mother without complaint. Dawa and Erwa like her very much. They don't want to see you either. Do you understand?"
"I just wanted to see them, what did I do wrong?" She feigned weakness and shed tears again.
"Your biggest mistake was abandoning them back then. Now that you want to see them, why can't they see you according to their own wishes? Zhu Kexin, why should you be the one to wrong others?"
Seeing Zhu Kexin's unpleasant expression, Li Huai continued, "Over the years, I have never mentioned anything bad about you in front of the children, but you know in your heart how you were a mother back then. Now they just don't want to see you. If you continue to make trouble, they will only hate you."
Li Huai's words touched upon her past and hidden thoughts that she dared not let anyone know.
“I don’t care what your purpose is in wanting to see the children and coming to me again. I’m only going to say this to you once: from now on, please stay away from me and my family. Don’t appear in front of us or disturb our family’s life.”
At this point, a fierce look appeared on Li Huai's face. "Otherwise, Zhu Kexin, I will show you my revenge for abandoning your husband and children back then. I, Li Huai, am not mentioning what happened back then not because I don't hold grudges, but simply because I can't be bothered with you."
He's a human being too. How could he not care at all about Zhu Kexin's behavior back then?
Zhu Kexin's expression changed drastically. She could feel intense disgust and murderous intent in the eyes of the man in front of her.
This was also a side of Li Huai she had never seen before.
Zhu Kexin had no idea what to do next.
Because she fled in panic once again.
He didn't even say many of the things he had planned to say.
She was scared. She sensed Li Huai's threat; it wasn't just talk. If she really crossed the line, he might actually do it.
She wasn't a particularly courageous person; she was just an ordinary person. It was already quite impressive that she managed to control herself and avoid making a fool of herself when faced with the ruthless side of Li Huai, a tough soldier.
Standing by the window, watching Zhu Kexin flee as if running away, Li Huai's lips curled into a smile.
With such limited abilities, you still have to come looking for him.
