Chapter 298 Who Will Have the Last Laugh

Once Zhao Qinglan had this feeling, she looked at the other police officers and realized that they were indeed very different from the one in front of her.

"Heh, do I need to explain to you before I take my men away?" the young man said arrogantly.

Zhao Qinglan ignored this person and gave Sister Wen a reassuring look first.

"Don't be afraid, Sister Wen. We haven't done anything wrong. Arresting people must be done according to the law."

Sister Wen nodded, her voice choked with emotion.

"Here, I am the law," the young man arrogantly declared again.

Upon hearing this, Zhao Qinglan immediately thought this person was out of their mind.

How is this any different from that idiot in later generations who claimed "My dad is Li Gang"?

She realized she really couldn't communicate with this guy normally, so she walked up to a female police officer and asked her.

"Comrade, could you please tell me where your leader is?"

The policewoman glanced discreetly at the young man who was still sitting there guarding Sister Wen, and whispered, "Comrade, the leader isn't here, but don't offend him."

"Comrade, could you tell me who he is?" Zhao Qinglan pleaded.

Perhaps finding the man's behavior unbearable, the policewoman gritted her teeth and said, "He's the deputy director's brother-in-law, and he's only been here a few days."

Sure enough, no wonder I thought that guy didn't seem like a proper police officer; it turns out he was a newly recruited person with connections.

So what if he's the deputy director's brother-in-law? Does that give him the right to act recklessly?

With a bit of confidence, Zhao Qinglan was no longer afraid, after all, she was no longer someone without any foundation.

She walked up to the man's brother-in-law, who had connections, and said loudly, "If you can't provide any evidence to arrest him, then I'm taking my man away."

"Wait, did I say you could leave?" The guy glanced at Zhao Qinglan.

"When will we be able to leave?" Zhao Qinglan asked coldly.

"You're the boss of the military-civilian joint venture?"

"It's me, what's wrong?"

"You're a woman, why aren't you taking good care of your child at home? Why are you running a business?"

"This is my own business, it's none of your concern," Zhao Qinglan said with disgust. She hated such remarks; why should women have to stay at home to be good wives and mothers?

"Heh, don't be so stubborn. If you bow your head today, go back and close your lousy shop. No, sell it if you know what's good for you, and you can leave."

Zhao Qinglan understood now; it seemed her shop had attracted some attention.

Closing the store or selling it is impossible for her.

Seeing that things were not going to end well, she took a deep breath.

Beside her, Sister Wen bit her lip and said, "Qinglan, why don't you go back? Don't worry about me for now."

"Sister Wen, how can I leave you behind? Wait for me, I'll be right back."

"This is a big deal, I need to talk to someone about it," Zhao Qinglan said to the guy.

The other person nodded nonchalantly. "Okay, hurry up."

Zhao Qinglan got up and left.

She went directly to the Junminhe General Store, met Wu Mei, said a few words, and then used the store's phone to make a call.

After making the call, she quickly returned to the police station.

"So, have you reached an agreement?" the kid asked casually.

"We're waiting for someone. Once they arrive, there will be results," Zhao Qinglan said calmly, then sat down with the frightened Sister Wen to wait.

The boy thought she was frightened and became even more smug.

Back home, seeing that Zhao Qinglan hadn't returned for a long time, Erwa, who was getting a little hungry, started calling out.

When is Mom coming back?

The older brother, who was listening to the storytelling with Cheng Tao, glared at his younger brother. "All you do all day is eat."

"Brother, are you not going to eat later?"

"Aunt Zhao's cooking is really delicious," Cheng Tao affirmed.

"Is the shop too busy? If Mom can't come back, I can cook for her in a bit," Xiaoduo volunteered.

She often helps her mother with housework at home and can cook, but her skills are not as good as Zhao Qinglan's.

“Mom has never forgotten to cook,” Sanwa suddenly said.

Indeed. Even if Zhao Qinglan couldn't cook for the children because of something, she would make arrangements in advance.

After being reminded by Sanwa, the children suddenly became a little worried.

"How about I go to the store and take a look?" Da Wa stood up.

“I’ll go with you,” Cheng Tao immediately agreed.

"How about this, brother? You and Cheng Tao go to the main store, and Erwa and I go to the new store. We don't know where Mom is, so let's split up and look for her."

"Alright, let's go now." The eldest child made the final decision.

"Sanwa, watch the house carefully," Xiaoduo reminded her.

"Okay, sister." Sanwa nodded.

The children immediately went outside.

The main store was close to their home, so Da Wa and Cheng Tao arrived at the store quickly.

"Auntie, has my mother been here?" Da Wa asked Wu Mei as soon as he entered.

"What brings you here?" Wu Mei asked in surprise.

"My mom hasn't come back yet, so we came over to ask her."

When Zhao Qinglan came to the store earlier, she had already told Wu Mei what had happened, but Wu Mei didn't want Da Wa and the others to know.

However, in that instant of hesitation, the perceptive eldest child already sensed that something was wrong.

"Auntie, what's wrong with my mom? Has something happened?"

"Big brother, don't ask anymore. You two go home. We adults are here."

"Auntie, I'm not a child anymore. Just tell me what happened, or I won't go home," the eldest child said stubbornly.

Seeing that he was really putting on an act of not leaving until you told me, Wu Mei said helplessly, "Your mother went to the police station."
