Chapter 300 Reinforcements Arrive

After deciding to settle accounts with Zhao Qinglan later, the brother-in-law suddenly put on a smiling face towards Sun Shengli.

"Comrade, this is all a misunderstanding. Since you've come all this way, I'll give you face and let this person go," he said, thinking himself magnanimous.

Sun Shengli sneered. "You think you can just arrest me whenever you want and release me whenever you want? Are you kidding me?"

Although they felt embarrassed by his brother-in-law's actions, the other police officers had no choice but to clean up his mess, since it now concerned the reputation of their entire police station.

They can't afford to strain relations with the nearby garrison.

Even though Sun Shengli's acquaintance had cursed his brother-in-law countless times in his heart, he still had to step forward to smooth things over.

"Commander Sun, it was our mistake to arrest the wrong person, we are so sorry."

“I don’t want an apology, I want to talk to your leader,” Sun Shengli said firmly.

Now that brother-in-law is embarrassed again.

"I've already said it's a misunderstanding, what more do you want? Don't go too far."

Beside her, Zhao Qinglan sneered. "Arresting people arbitrarily, arresting the wrong person, and then just dismissing it as a misunderstanding? I've really learned something new. It seems we victims can't even say a word. Is this the people's police station, or some people's private backyard?"

When Zhao Qinglan slapped this heavy label on everyone present, the police officers felt a chill run down their spines.

Seeing that his brother-in-law was hopeless, the one who had tried to mediate gave up and stepped back, saying, "Old Sun, do as you please. I'm not involved in this anymore."

Although the other police officers were also uncomfortable with these words, they hoped to take this opportunity to teach that arrogant brother-in-law a lesson, so for a moment no one stood up to speak.

"You stinking woman, do you even have the right to speak here?" The brother-in-law pointed at Zhao Qinglan and started swearing.

Zhao Qinglan immediately pulled Sister Wen and hid behind Sun Shengli and the others.

"This is the police station! How dare you hit people like this!" she shouted from behind, feigning fear.

"I'll beat you up, so what if it's the police station? This is my territory."

After saying that, the enraged brother-in-law rolled up his sleeves and walked away.

Seeing this, Sun Shengli's eyes turned cold, and Zhou Jingsheng couldn't hold back his anger and grabbed his brother-in-law by the collar.

"You, let go! I'm going to beat that woman to death!"

"Is there no law anymore? Do you even know who she is? She's also a military wife. Her husband served on the front lines, and her uncle is a veteran revolutionary. Her restaurant provides jobs for many military wives, and she even contributes her share of the restaurant's profits every year to help our troops improve various infrastructure facilities. If any of you dare to arrest her, I'll be the first to object!"

After Sun Shengli finished speaking, the police officers looked at Zhao Qinglan with admiration.

Unfortunately, some people remain stubbornly ignorant.

"What does that have to do with me? I'm going to beat her up today!"

"Let me see who's so powerful, trying to beat up a meritorious military wife in broad daylight."

Mr. Cheng walked in with a frosty expression. Behind him were several leaders from the Public Security Bureau and some comrades from government departments.

After his secretary learned about the situation and informed him, he suddenly announced that he was going to visit the lower-level units, and the first unit he chose was the Public Security Bureau.

The leaders of the Public Security Bureau rushed over and met the government officials outside the Public Security Bureau gate.

The leaders were praying that the people in the bureau would behave well and not give them any leverage, but before they even reached the door, they overheard several conversations inside, and the leaders' expressions were more interesting than the last.

Just as the police leaders were about to rush in to stop them, it was Cheng's father who stopped them.

Seeing so many people come in, everyone in the station fell silent, but unfortunately, one idiot suddenly blurted out something.

"Brother-in-law, what brings you back?" The brother-in-law asked in surprise, looking at the deputy director who was following behind the leader.

The deputy director's face turned completely black; no, he even looked like he wanted to beat his brother-in-law to death.

He didn't know what would happen to others, but he knew he was definitely doomed.

Mr. Cheng glanced back at the deputy director with a half-smile. As soon as the deputy director turned away, the police chief glared fiercely at his deputy.

Damn it, you've dragged us all down with you.

"Is it you who wants to beat up this military wife?" Mr. Cheng asked his brother-in-law.

The brother-in-law was about to nod when he suddenly frowned. "Who are you?" His brother-in-law was following behind this man; could this guy be some important figure? Thinking this, his rationality returned. He stole a glance at the deputy director and saw his brother-in-law, who was usually so kind to him, looking at him like he was an enemy.

"Did everyone hear what this person just said?" Mr. Cheng looked at everyone present.

The police chief gritted his teeth and stepped forward. "Secretary, it was our mismanagement. We will definitely give the leaders an explanation for this."

Zhao Qinglan was very surprised to see Cheng's father appear.

She also considered Cheng's father, but felt that she had only met him once and they weren't very close. So she thought she should approach Sun Shengli first, since the new store wasn't officially under the military's name, but it was still a branch of the military-civilian joint venture. If the regiment intervened, it would be justified.

As for Cheng's father, she was just thinking that if all else failed, she would consider asking this public servant who cared about the people for help.

But she didn't expect that Mr. Cheng would appear so "unexpectedly," and at just the right time.

Cheng's father didn't react to the bureau chief's statement. Instead, he looked at the people present and became heartbroken.

“What are you? You are the People’s Police. The people came first, then you police. But what did he do? Everyone saw it.”
