Chapter 304 Job Interview

The military spouses in the family quarters all knew Zhao Qinglan to some extent.

After all, whether it was the pile of eye-catching appliances she brought when she moved or the house she bought later, it all showed that she came from a well-off family.

However, after Zhao Qinglan arrived in the provincial capital, she kept a low profile. Later, after buying a new house, her family lived in the residential area less often. The neighbors could only say they knew each other, but their relationship was not very close.

When the leaders in charge there first announced that they would provide some job opportunities for military dependents, those who were unemployed flocked to the site.

Many people are inquiring about the origin of this job. Although the leader in charge is trying his best to keep it a secret for Zhao Qinglan and not expose her yet, there are no secrets that stay hidden forever.

At first, only the leader's own family knew that these job positions were provided by Zhao Qinglan, but within two days, everyone in the entire residential area knew.

Job opportunities are limited, but there are countless military dependents who are unemployed.

Some people felt that registering with the military wasn't necessarily a guarantee of success, so they thought of going directly to Zhao Qinglan, the person in charge.

Fortunately, Zhao Qinglan did not live upstairs in the residential area, and the other residents did not know the address of her compound, which saved her a lot of trouble.

Since they couldn't find Zhao Qinglan, they had no choice but to look for Li Huai.

However, after Li Huai noticed this trend, whenever he wasn't on duty, he would go straight back to his courtyard and wouldn't give the military families a chance to approach him or talk to him.

Li Huai didn't expect that even after doing all that, he still couldn't completely avoid it.

Surprisingly, some of his comrades and colleagues approached him in the barracks to plead for their own people.

Li Huai had no choice but to shift the blame to Zhao Qinglan, saying that his wife ran the shop and he couldn't make the decisions; it was also his wife who decided who to hire.

When someone asked for his home address again, wanting to visit Zhao Qinglan at his house, Li Huai said that his wife was not home.

Zhao Qinglan was originally at home, but because of these troubles, she had to "not be at home." As soon as Li Huai came home and told her, she quickly packed some things and ran back to the district to live.

She will come back for interviews after the first batch of candidates has been screened.

Although it will definitely involve favors and connections, it might be better to avoid some trouble.

With her gone, Erwa, Xiaoduo, and Sanwa all have to go to school and will have to stay at home.

This fall, Xiaoduo entered the second year of junior high school, Erwa entered the first year of junior high school, and Sanwa finally stopped going to daycare and entered the first grade of elementary school.

With Zhao Qinglan not home, the father and his sons either ate at the cafeteria or had Xiaoduo and Li Huai cook for them.

Erwa tried cooking before, but unfortunately he only had a talent for eating; at most, he could only help with things like washing vegetables.

Zhao Qinglan returned to her hometown to live, which naturally made Da Wa the happiest, and even Cheng Tao benefited from it.

The two of them usually ate at the small canteen jointly run by the military and civilians, but as soon as Zhao Qinglan returned, they started going home for dinner on time.

The Zhao family treated Cheng Tao as one of their own. Although he ate better food at Zhao Qinglan's house than at the small dining hall, they never charged him a penny.

When Zhao Qinglan returned, Sun Shi and her younger sister Qingzhu were also very happy.

Zhao Qingzhu is about to give birth. Zhou Jingsheng is mostly in the camp during the day, and sometimes he has to be on duty at night. Sun Shi is worried about her daughter being alone at home, so she let her live in the city so she can take care of her nearby.

As for Nannan, she's temporarily leaving daycare and moving in with us.

Zhou Jingsheng now goes to the city every few days to see his wife and daughter.

Actually, it wasn't that Sun couldn't stay at Zhao Qingzhu's house in the family quarters, but she was thinking that if she left, her grandson Dawa would be all alone in the hospital.

She was so worried that she let her daughter and granddaughter move in, since it's much more convenient to do anything in the city than in the residential area.

Zhao Qinglan had only been back for a few days when her younger sister had an attack during lunch.

They quickly took the person to the hospital and then called Zhou Jingsheng.

Perhaps because she had given birth once before, Zhao Qingzhu's delivery went very smoothly this time; she heard the baby crying within half an hour of entering the delivery room.

When the doctor came out and said it was a girl, Zhao Qinglan didn't feel much, only happy for her younger sister, while Sun Shi was a little disappointed.

Actually, Madam Sun wasn't sexist; she had suffered from this herself, so how could she be so narrow-minded? She just felt that if her daughter had another son, it would be perfect to have both a son and a daughter.

By the time Zhou Jingsheng arrived, Zhao Qingzhu and the child had already gone into the ward.

When she saw her son-in-law arrive, Sun was worried that her daughter would be unhappy because Zhou Jingsheng had given birth to another girl. But seeing Zhou Jingsheng's cheerful appearance, she knew that she had been overthinking it.

That's enough. Children and grandchildren have their own blessings. She'll just help them out when she has the energy.

Zhao Qingzhu's delivery went smoothly, so she didn't stay in the hospital for long. After staying for a little over a day, she returned home.

This time, they didn't go back to Zhao Qinglan's house, but to the family quarters.

Sun went to take care of her daughter during her postpartum period, and Zhao Qinglan stayed for a few more days, cooking for the eldest child as well.

She only returned after her husband called the military-civilian joint store to inform her that the candidates had been screened and that her supervisor wanted her to go back.

Zhao Qinglan didn't choose to conduct the interview in the military family quarters or in her own yard; instead, she chose to hold it in front of a shop that wasn't yet fully renovated.

A table, a chair, and the military dependents lined up one by one. She chatted with each of them for a while and then wrote something down on a piece of paper.

Even though she had already screened them once, there were still more than sixty military dependents who came to her for interviews, but she only planned to recruit about ten people, so the elimination rate was still quite high.

With the interview conducted in front of everyone, those who wanted to offer gifts or curry favor wouldn't dare to pull any tricks.

After the interviews, Zhao Qinglan didn't announce the results immediately. She only said that the list of selected candidates would be posted outside the store tomorrow, and everyone could come and see it then.

After the interview, she took the paper filled with her writings home and compiled a list of selected candidates that very night.

She kept her word and went out with her husband and children in the morning, having promised to post it outside the store the next day.

When she arrived at the store, she found that quite a few military dependents were already waiting there.

Without wasting any time, she quickly posted the list.

She left as soon as she finished posting, not giving the unsuccessful candidates a chance to plead with her later.

Below the list were notes reminding those selected to report to the store on time, at which point she would make further arrangements.

When the recruitment list was announced, those who were selected were overjoyed, while those who were not selected were disappointed and resentful.

Some people accepted the result, while others were dissatisfied.

However, those who are aware of the situation can see that the military dependents Zhao Qinglan chose are all capable and virtuous people in the family quarters.

Of course, some people will still be dissatisfied and go to the military leaders to complain, but this is Zhao Qinglan's own private business. The fact that she is willing to give priority to military dependents in recruitment opportunities is already a sign of respect because everyone is a military dependent.

How could the leaders possibly tell them what to do? If they really angered them, they might not be able to provide a single job, and there would be nothing anyone could do about it.

After recruiting the workers, Zhao Qinglan quickly called Wu Mei to tell her to get ready, as she would be taking people there for a few days of practical training.
