Zhao Qinglan was reading management books that Zhang Yu had brought from Hong Kong when the phone on the table rang.
"Qinglan, something bad has happened! Come to the store quickly! Liu Ying is here again, and she brought her five children with her," Wu Mei said anxiously over the phone.
"I'll be right there."
After hanging up the phone, Zhao Qinglan was about to leave when she suddenly came back, took her camera out of the drawer, and brought it with her. Just in case she needed it, she should have taken a picture of the bag along with Liu Ying when Liu Ying confessed to theft last time.
After taking the camera, she made another phone call.
Then they called the old accountant, and the two of them rushed to the store together.
On the way, Zhao Qinglan was still wondering what Liu Ying was up to.
Before she even got to the store, she heard a commotion.
Liu Ying, with her five children, was seen blocking the entrance of Junminhe's shop, crying and wailing.
"Are you trying to kill me? I have five children to support, and you're firing me."
Liu Ying's children cried along with her, and the older ones looked at Junminhe with hatred in their eyes.
To this day, none of the children in the family know what mistake their mother made that caused her to lose her job.
Although the people in the family quarters were talking about it, they felt it was inappropriate to laugh at Liu Ying's children in front of them, so they stopped talking as soon as they saw the children.
In this respect, the overall quality of people in the family residential area is better than in many other places.
For these children, their meals have been getting better and better since their mother got a job, especially in the last few months, which have been the happiest days of their lives.
But now, Mom has suddenly lost her job, and their family's food expenses have plummeted back to what they used to be. In addition, Liu Ying keeps cursing Junminhe and Zhao Qinglan at home.
As a result, several children harbored great resentment towards the military-civilian cooperation.
"You're trying to drive my whole family to their deaths."
None of the employees at the military-civilian joint venture expected Liu Ying to bring her child and cause such a scene. Everyone was panicked and didn't know what to do.
Sure enough, a crowd of onlookers gradually gathered in front of the gate where the military and civilians met.
Unaware of the inside story, the people only saw Liu Ying crying so miserably with her five children, and they started pointing and gossiping among the soldiers and civilians.
"I heard that this person is a military family member."
"This food from the military and civilian joint venture is quite delicious. I often come here to buy it. I never expected the owner to be such a person."
"As expected, those who exploit the working people are no good people."
...
Zhao Qinglan listened to these unpleasant words as she walked to the shop entrance, her face now covered in frost.
"Qinglan, you're here!" Wu Mei exclaimed with delight.
Upon seeing Zhao Qinglan, Liu Ying revealed a look of resentment and malice.
"Zhao Qinglan, it's you, you bloodsucking, heartless boss! I've worked diligently at Junminhe for so long, and you just fire me like that? How cruel of you!"
"Are you diligently stealing things? Or are you working for me without getting paid?" Zhao Qinglan sneered.
As soon as she said she stole something, the crowd erupted in uproar.
A look of guilt flashed across Liu Ying's face.
As for her children, they looked at their mother in disbelief.
"You're talking nonsense. You framed me for that. I didn't steal anything," Liu Ying said stubbornly.
Anyway, not many people know about this, so what can Zhao Qinglan do to her even if she doesn't admit it?
If Zhao Qinglan doesn't give her a way out, then she shouldn't expect to have an easy time either.
"Liu Ying, how can you be so shameless? You admitted to stealing right in front of me and Qinglan. We even caught you taking that big bag full of ingredients from the store," Wu Mei said angrily.
Since Liu Ying was so shameless, Wu Mei no longer cared about giving her any face in front of her child.
"Mom, did you really steal something?" Liu Ying's eldest daughter asked in disbelief.
Liu Ying poked her daughter's forehead with one finger, leaving a red mark.
"Are you stupid? You believe everything outsiders say? I didn't take it. They're just slandering me because they don't want me anymore."
The children immediately glared at Zhao Qinglan.
Because of Liu Ying's rebuttal, the onlookers became skeptical, unsure whether to side with Liu Ying or Zhao Qinglan.
However, perhaps because people feel that Liu Ying is weak and pitiful, most people are actually biased towards her.
Seeing the reactions of those around her, Zhao Qinglan knew she was being morally blackmailed.
Disappointed? A little, I suppose. After all, she initially prioritized hiring military dependents because she genuinely wanted to do something for them.
She was also very angry when she found out that Liu Ying had stolen things.
However, perhaps because she had already witnessed much evil in the world and the ugliness of people's hearts, she was only a little disappointed, not to the point of feeling extremely upset.
She poured her heart out to the Wang family for decades, but in the end, it all came to nothing.
She knew that today was a challenge to the reputation of the military and the people, but she was not afraid!
Taking a deep breath, she faced the crowd of onlookers and began her counterattack.
“This is not my first military-civilian cooperative store. How I treat you is not something you, Liu Ying, can define with just a few words. There are many other military-civilian cooperative employees here. You can also visit other military-civilian cooperative stores to learn more.”
"Because I am a military dependent myself, I know the many difficulties that military dependents face in life. So my shop prioritizes hiring military dependents. I believe I have done a good job and have a clear conscience."
"I never mistreat my employees as long as they work hard. Brother Qin, let me tell you what the income level of our military-civilian cooperative employees is."
The old accountant immediately stepped forward.
