As the children eagerly awaited their arrival, the train finally reached the station.
With Li Huai around, Zhao Qinglan didn't need to worry about her luggage.
They had just gotten off the train and hadn't even left the station when someone ran over to them from the platform.
"Cheng Tao, we've finally found you, kid." A young man who looked to be in his twenties grabbed Cheng Tao's shoulder.
Zhao Qinglan and the others also stopped.
"Aunt Zhao, this is my cousin, Cheng Ce," Cheng Tao introduced.
Secretary Cheng had called home, so Cheng Ce knew that his cousin had come with other people this time.
Hearing Cheng Tao call her "Auntie," he naturally had to do the same. "Hello, Uncle. Hello, Auntie."
Fortunately, Zhao Qinglan was already used to it. After all, she and Wu Mei were of the same generation, and Wu Mei's children called her Auntie. Sun Wen was already over twenty years old.
They didn't say anything to Cheng Ce, and without much small talk, the group headed straight out.
Once outside, Cheng Ce became polite to Zhao Qinglan and the others. "Auntie, why don't you ride with us?"
Zhao Qinglan glanced at the number of people in her family and decisively shook her head. "No need, you just take Cheng Tao home, we'll go by ourselves."
Cheng Ce was just being polite. After all, they only brought one car to pick up the people, and there wasn't enough room for Zhao Qinglan's family to sit down.
Cheng Tao was a little reluctant to part with them soon.
"Yan Sen, remember to call me, let's go out and have some fun together."
"I understand," the older child smiled.
Only after watching Cheng Tao get into the car and drive away did they begin to study the route.
There are bus stops outside the train station, but they need to decide where to stay first.
As soon as they came out, locals from Haishi approached them, asking if they needed a hotel.
Zhao Qinglan decisively refused and instead began studying the bus stop sign.
Li Huai, who was not very familiar with Shanghai, did not offer any suggestions and waited for his wife to make the decision.
The two children, Da Wa and Er Wa, weren't in a hurry at all. They were looking around, observing their surroundings. Everything in Hai Shi was new and exciting to them.
Zhao Qinglan only knew that Pudong was still quite backward and undeveloped at this time. Considering all aspects of eating, living, and shopping, it would be better for them to stay in Puxi.
Thinking that she had her husband look after several children, she went to a nearby newsstand, bought a local newspaper, and then asked around.
When she returned, the destination was already decided.
Some things are better understood by asking the locals.
When the bus arrived, a large crowd rushed to get on. Li Huai brought up the rear, and he and his eldest son helped his wife and the others board the bus as quickly as possible.
There were no seats left on the bus, but luckily the whole family was together. Li Huai and Da Wa were still sitting in a circle on the outside, while Er Wa and Zhao Qinglan were inside, so they didn't have to worry about being squeezed.
This is when you see the advantages of having more men in the family.
It was the height of summer, and the car was crowded and the smell wasn't pleasant. Luckily, Zhao Qinglan had a small bag with her. Seeing that her daughter's complexion wasn't good, she quickly took out some Tiger Balm from her bag, smelled it herself, and then quickly let Xiaoduo smell it too.
Don't be fooled by its strong smell; this medicated oil really works.
Seeing that his wife and daughter looked much better, Li Huai, who had been worried, finally breathed a sigh of relief and was glad that he had come along this time.
The car swayed and wobbled, stopping every now and then for people to get on and off.
After about twenty minutes, Li Huai finally managed to grab an empty seat on the side and quickly called his wife over.
Only after Zhao Qinglan and her daughter sat down did she come back to life.
Although Xiaoduo is not little anymore, she can only sit on her mother's lap right now.
After being put through this ordeal, Zhao Qinglan decided that she wouldn't hesitate to spend money next time she went out; they could just take a taxi, right?
While studying the bus stop sign, she also saw two taxis in Shanghai. However, she heard someone ask about the price, which was quite expensive, and considering that her family would have too many people and would need to take another taxi, she gave up on them.
But now she deeply regrets it and would rather spend more money to be comfortable.
She works so hard to earn money, isn't it all to improve her family's living standards?
After taking a bus for almost an hour, they finally arrived at their destination. After asking around, they found a hotel that looked quite nice.
After asking the front desk, Zhao Qinglan booked two suites. She and her husband stayed in one with their daughter, Xiaoduo, and the other was for her three sons.
They had just finished asking and were about to pay when a fat man in a suit, arm in arm with a girl, walked over.
Are there any suites available?
"I'm sorry, sir, the last two suites have already been booked by this lady."
The fat man glanced at Zhao Qinglan and said flippantly, "Beautiful lady, can I have a suite?"
As soon as he called Zhao Qinglan "beautiful lady," the girl next to him became somewhat unhappy and glared at Zhao Qinglan with hostility.
Li Huai and the children were waiting there when he saw something was wrong and came over.
"What's wrong with Qinglan?"
He was very displeased when he saw the way the fat man was looking at his wife.
Although Zhao Qinglan is 31 years old this year, she is well-maintained and dresses very fashionably, making her look like she is in her twenties.
If Cheng Ce hadn't already learned from his uncle that his cousin had come with Zhao Qinglan, he really wouldn't have dared to call Zhao Qinglan "Auntie" directly, mainly because she looked too young.
"It's alright." Zhao Qinglan smiled at her husband before looking at the fat man. "I'm sorry, that's not allowed."
Perhaps seeing Li Huai approach, the fat man felt uneasy upon seeing Li Huai's tall and handsome appearance. He immediately said to Zhao Qinglan, "Beautiful lady, I'll pay more. Tell me, how much would you be willing to give me a room for?"
