Chapter 367 A Phone Call After Many Years

As the Lunar New Year approaches, Sun Guangming is even busier.

Wei Yaohui ran to the nearest convenience store to their home and made a phone call. He first called Sun Guangming's house, but the housekeeper answered and said that the boss was not home.

Wei Yaohui had no choice but to call Sun Guangming's office again, but unfortunately the phone rang for a long time without anyone answering.

Helpless, Wei Yaohui had to find the phone number of a colleague in his work unit from his phone book to inquire about Sun Guangming's schedule.

In the past, it would have been very taboo for him to inquire about the whereabouts of his superiors in this way.

Firstly, Wei Yaohui is now Sun Guangming's nephew-in-law, which most people at his workplace know. Secondly, he repeatedly said that he had an urgent matter at home and needed to find his uncle, Sun Guangming, so the other party no longer held back and told him where Sun Guangming had gone.

It turned out that Sun Guangming had gone to a meeting at the ministry.

"Qingju, don't worry, I'll go find your uncle right away. You wait at home."

Zhao Qingju's belly was already quite large, and she was indeed not suited to traveling around, so she could only see her husband off.

"Tell me as soon as you have any news."

"I understand. You can go back now."

Wei Yaohui got on his bicycle and left.

He knew exactly where the department was, and after braving the cold wind to get there, he took out his work ID to register before he could walk in smoothly.

However, Sun Guangming was still in a meeting inside, and he only found Sun Guangming's secretary outside.

"Yaohui, what brings you here?" Sun Guangming's secretary, Xiao Zhou, asked in surprise.

Xiao Zhou had accompanied his superiors to Wei Yaohui's place quite a few times and was quite familiar with him.

"Secretary Zhou, there is an emergency at home that I must tell my uncle immediately."

Even though they were relatives, Wei Yaohui would normally address Sun Guangming by his superior title at work. Now that he was calling him "uncle" and looking so anxious, Secretary Zhou became worried too.

"What exactly happened? The leader hasn't come out yet. Is there anything I can do to help?"

"It seems we've found Auntie," Wei Yaohui said excitedly.

Aunt? It took Secretary Zhou a while to realize what she meant.

As someone close to the leader, he naturally knew a lot about the leader's affairs.

When the leader was feeling sad, he also expressed his longing for another younger sister, and even asked him to help find her.

However, so many people were lost in that era, and a lot of information was also lost, so he didn't find anything.

"Wait here, I'll go in and tell the boss right away."

After finishing his sentence, Secretary Zhou, without paying attention to anything else, opened the door and walked into the conference room.

As soon as he entered, everyone at the meeting could see him. Sun Guangming felt a chill run down his spine when he saw his secretary come in.

What could be so important that Xiao Zhou rushed in without even finishing his meeting?

Xiao Zhou quickly walked up to Sun Guangming and whispered a few words in his ear.

Upon hearing his secretary's words, Sun Guangming immediately lost his composure.

"real?"

His voice was a bit loud, which attracted the attention of several people nearby.

Realizing he had lost his composure, Sun Guangming glanced at his watch and tried to remain calm, saying, "The meeting is about to end. You and Yaohui can wait outside for a while."

Although he was also anxious to know news about his younger sister, he didn't want it to affect his work and prompt him to resign.

Having learned of the leader's attitude, Secretary Zhou nodded and left the meeting room.

"How was it?" Wei Yaohui asked as soon as he came out.

"The meeting is about to end, the leader said to wait a moment."

Wei Yaohui then sat outside with his secretary, Xiao Zhou, and waited.

After waiting for about eight or nine minutes, the meeting room door opened.

Wei Yaohui and Secretary Zhou both stood up, and Sun Guangming strode towards them.

"Yaohui, what exactly happened?"

"Uncle, look at this newspaper." Wei Yaohui didn't forget to bring the newspaper with him when he went out.

Sun Guangming quickly took the newspaper and started reading.

When he saw the missing person notice, he was deeply moved and began to tremble.

He reads the newspaper every day, but he only looks at the current affairs commentary. He rarely looks at the advertising sections, and usually just glances at them.

If Yaohui hadn't seen it, wouldn't he have missed his sister?

Just by looking at the names and ages of the three siblings, he could confirm that they were his long-lost eldest sister.

“Let’s go, make a call,” he said, his lips trembling.

There were plenty of telephones in the ministry, and Sun Guangming couldn't wait any longer.

Secretary Zhou only said that the leader needed to use the phone, so he borrowed an office.

Sitting there, Sun Guangming picked up the phone and dialed one number after another from the contact information in the newspaper.

Wei Yaohui and Secretary Zhou were standing to the side.

Once the call connected, Sun Guangming tried to remain calm and said, "Hello, my name is Sun Guangming. I saw the missing person notice in the newspaper..."

Since Madame Sun and her entourage stayed at a hotel, they left their contact information with the hotel.

Later, after we bought a house, we installed a telephone in the new house, which was a special arrangement.

Before we had this phone number, the hotel had a designated person to keep it. Now that we have the phone, if someone calls because they are looking for relatives, the hotel will provide them with the new contact information.

"A pen, get me a pen!" he suddenly said urgently.

Secretary Zhou and Wei Yaohui quickly searched the office and thankfully found it soon.

Sun Guangming picked up a pen and began writing on the newspaper in front of him. "I can speak now."

"Okay, thank you." After writing down the number, he hung up the phone.

Seeing the string of numbers on the newspaper, he immediately dialed again.

Madam Sun leaned back in her recliner, listening to the "ee-ya-ee-ya" opera music on the radio, with steaming tea on the small table beside her.

She had just picked up her teacup and was blowing on it to warm it when her assistant walked in.

"Madam, someone called and said his name is Sun Guangming. All the other information matches up." If everything hadn't matched up, and even included some details not in the missing person notice, she wouldn't have rushed over immediately.

The assistant was well aware of how much the lady cared for her family.

Upon hearing her assistant's words, Madam Sun dropped her teacup, spilling tea and tea leaves everywhere, even getting some on her clothes.

The assistant rushed over to help her clean up, but Mrs. Sun grabbed the assistant and stood up abruptly.

"Has the call ended?" she asked anxiously.

"No, it's still connected."

Madam Sun immediately rushed out.

Sun Guangming waited anxiously, when he heard hurried footsteps coming through the microphone, followed by someone speaking.

"Hello, this is Shuli, are you my older brother?"

Sun Guangming's choked voice came through the microphone. "Shuli, it's me, Sun Guangming, your older brother."

Madam Sun covered her mouth and burst into tears. "Brother, I've finally found you."

Seeing Sun Guangming's tearful face, Wei Yaohui and Secretary Zhou's eyes also reddened.

Madam Sun's assistant, a young woman, was more emotional, and tears streamed down her face.

After decades of separation, the brother and sister finally reconnected at this moment.
