Sun could handle her daughters' occasional nagging, but she was afraid of her older sister.
Fortunately, her sister understands her, otherwise she would have been under a lot of pressure.
Having gone through a failed marriage, she genuinely had no intention of finding someone else to spend her life with.
She feels pretty good as it is now.
That evening, Mrs. Sun also took Zhao Qinglan and the others out for an outdoor barbecue on the lawn outside her house.
The children baked food themselves and had a great time.
Zhao Qinglan felt that their trip to the port city was more like a leisurely vacation.
Da Wa and his friends were quite pleased with themselves for getting Little Ma's autograph, and said they would show it off to their classmates and friends when they got back.
The next day, after getting up and having breakfast, Zhao Qinglan and the others began preparing their outfits for going out to watch the horse races.
Because of the hot weather, Zhao Qinglan and her daughter both changed into short-sleeved dresses and wore sun hats.
The boys didn't care about getting sunburned, but they all changed into cool clothes.
Once everyone was ready, they took a minibus together to the horse racing venue.
The tickets had been bought in advance, and when they arrived at the venue, they were led inside by Mrs. Sun and the staff.
Madam Sun actually had a private room here all year round, but she preferred to stand outside and watch.
As soon as they arrived, a staff member came in and whispered something to Madam Sun.
"Qinglan, you all stay here and don't wander around. If you need anything, just ask the waiter over there. I'm going out for a bit."
"Okay, Auntie."
The view from the VIP box was excellent; even though the match hadn't started yet, you could already see the excitement outside.
Liao Yunxiang walked in after only a short while.
"Cousin, Aunt."
"Yunxiang is here, but he looks even thinner," Mrs. Sun said worriedly.
"Auntie, I'm in good health," Liao Yunxiang said shyly.
The elders were used to this kind of concern, and after a few words of nagging, Mrs. Sun turned her attention back to the outside.
"Yunxiang, I heard from Wei Hong that you helped her a lot before, thank you."
"Cousin, it's nothing, she's quite capable." Liao Yunxiang smiled.
"Wei Hong is indeed very hardworking."
"Cousin, what happened to her before?" Liao Yunxiang suddenly asked.
Although she didn't know why her cousin suddenly asked this, Zhao Qinglan still offered a brief explanation on behalf of her friend.
"She just had bad luck with men and had a failed marriage before, but she got over it a long time ago. Now she's independent and doing quite well."
"I see." Liao Yunxiang looked thoughtful.
After exchanging pleasantries for a while, Liao Yunxiang said he needed to go out and talk to some friends.
When it comes to things like horse racing, they often run into many acquaintances.
Zhao Qinglan saw him to the door. As soon as the two opened the door to the private room, a red-haired woman with an unfriendly expression barged in and began to criticize Zhao Qinglan as soon as she saw her.
"Liao Yunxiang, is this the man you kept a mistress in and rejected me for? He's nothing special."
Being misunderstood, Zhao Qinglan was both amused and exasperated. Liao Yunxiang, who had previously been quite gentle and shy in front of his family, now looked serious.
"Don't talk nonsense. This is my cousin. I rejected you because I think we're not a good match."
Several children also became interested in the commotion.
"Cousin? Is she a real cousin or a fake one?" the red-haired woman asked skeptically.
"Rebecca, I don't need to explain myself to you so clearly. Please leave now." His aunt and the others had finally come to Hong Kong for a few days of fun, and he didn't want to spoil their enjoyment.
"Last time, you didn't give me face because of some country bumpkin from the mainland. Are you going to do the same this time?" The red-haired woman persisted.
"That country bumpkin from the mainland, could it be Wei Hong?" Zhao Qinglan wondered.
"What's so great about women from the mainland? They're all so unsophisticated. Do they even have enough to eat? You're so naive to be deceived by those women. They're just here in our Hong Kong to climb the social ladder."
Upon hearing the red-haired woman say that things were bad in the mainland, not only Zhao Qinglan, but also Da Wa and the others looked displeased.
"I don't know what your story is, but please don't casually mention our mainland," Zhao Qinglan said coldly.
"Oh, so you're a woman from the mainland. Did I hit a nerve?" the red-haired woman said with a contemptuous laugh.
Their whole family is pro-colonial, and even knowing that the mainland will be returned to China in the future, they still don't have a good attitude when it comes to the mainland.
Liao Yunxiang finally lost his temper. He gestured to the bodyguards who had come to protect him, then picked up Rebecca and started walking out.
"Liao Yunxiang, you dare! My daddy won't let you bully me like this."
"Oh, Rebecca, is this how your father raised you—to bully my family?" Madam Sun appeared with a cold face.
Upon seeing her, Rebecca's arrogant attitude finally changed. "Aunt Sun."
"I dare not accept the title of 'Auntie,' after all, I am also from the mainland, how could I possibly be worthy of your attention?" Madam Sun scoffed.
“Auntie, that’s not what I meant,” Rebecca quickly explained.
“These are all my relatives. If you humiliate them, you are slapping me in the face. I’m going to go and ask your father if your family is going to start a war with the Liao family.”
Rebecca's pupils contracted sharply; that was not what she meant at all.
Although their family was well-off, they had started to decline in recent years. The reason she took a liking to Liao Yunxiang was that he had no bad habits and was a breath of fresh air in the wealthy family.
