Chapter 414 The Old Mother's Reluctance and Worry

Cheng Tao also wanted to go and see Da Wa's school, so he went along.

As for the people to protect, Zhao Qinglan only brought Ding Yu, who was more skilled, and left Liu Dandan at home.

The four of them hailed a taxi to Da Wa's school.

As soon as the driver heard them give their address, he asked if they were going to school. When they answered yes, he became incredibly enthusiastic and talkative.

When they finally arrived at the school gate, the group got out of the car and looked at the school's name; the feeling was completely different.

"Yan Sen, your school's gate is really impressive," Cheng Tao remarked. "I wonder what our school is like."

"You'll find out in a few days," the older child chuckled.

Knowing that military academies have strict management, Zhao Qinglan and the others didn't bring much, just the eldest child's clothes and such.

There are quite a few students and parents registering at the school gate now, it looks very lively.

As soon as they entered the school gate, they were greeted by enthusiastic students.

"Excuse me, are you here to register? Which department are you in?"

"Military command system".

“Dude, you must have scored very high on the college entrance exam.” The way the other person looked at him immediately changed.

"I'm alright," the older child said, rubbing his head.

"Who are these two students?" The person looked at Cheng Tao and Ding Yu again. As for Zhao Qinglan, because she had dressed more maturely, she was not misunderstood this time, but people still thought she was Da Wa's older sister.

“This is my high school classmate. He’s not from our school. This is my family member. They came to take me to school,” Da Wa explained immediately.

"Oh, then come with me. The military command reception point is still over there in the old building."

Two students who came to greet them insisted on helping them with their luggage, but Ding Yu nimbly dodged them.

"Wow, you're really skilled, sister!" one of the students exclaimed.

"Sister Ding Yu is a retired veteran, our senior," Cheng Tao said proudly.

The two students immediately stood at attention and gave Ding Yu a standard military salute.

Ding Yu replied immediately.

Da Wa was a man of few words, but Cheng Tao was enthusiastic and talkative. On the way to report for duty, they learned that Da Wa was also a child of a soldier and came from a military family.

Fortunately, Cheng Tao knew his limits and didn't mention Li Huai's position or military region, but that was enough to make those two students treat Da Wa differently.

At least when I went to report for duty, the people in the military command department whispered a few words to me.

My junior classmate, who's also from a military family, deserves to be treated well.

Zhao Qinglan and her group experienced the students' enthusiasm once again.

The students escorted them all the way to Da Wa's dormitory before saying goodbye and leaving.

As expected of a military academy, the dormitories are now very clean and tidy, but Zhao Qinglan still used a basin to fill with water and wipe things down.

Since she had already started taking action, Da Wa Ding Yu and the others naturally wouldn't stand still.

Da Wa was the first to arrive at their dorm. While they were cleaning, two more roommates came to check in.

The dormitory where Da Wa and his friends live can accommodate six people, and those who can get in are all physically fit.

The two newcomers were taller and more robust than the eldest son. They were from Northeast China, and Zhao Qinglan felt a sense of familiarity upon hearing their accents. She couldn't help but laugh at the thought that her son might have his accent influenced by these Northeastern roommates if they lived together for a long time.

My other roommate, though not very burly, looked quite capable and came from the south.

Both children arrived on their own, and seeing that they were cleaning, they immediately joined in.

With many hands making light work, the dormitory quickly became clean and bright thanks to their efforts.

After they finished cleaning, the remaining students in the dormitory had not yet arrived, so Zhao Qinglan took the initiative to invite her son's two roommates to have dinner with them.

The boy from Northeast China readily agreed, while the one from the South was a little shy and embarrassed. However, the boy was less shy than the girl, and soon the group left the dormitory building.

“From now on you’ll only be able to eat in the cafeteria, so Mom will take you to eat out,” Zhao Qinglan suggested.

Today's college students are doing well; the school provides stipends, and they are guaranteed job placement after graduation. She remembers that in a few years, college students will not only have to pay for their own tuition, but the guaranteed job placement will also gradually be abolished.

Although my son is in military school and we don't have to worry about these things no matter what, these few years are the best and last time for college students to have a good environment.

The two roommates were quite surprised to learn that Zhao Qinglan was Da Wa's mother.

It just so happened that Zhao Qinglan and her family's branch of the hot pot restaurant in Beijing had just opened, so Zhao Qinglan took the children to her family's hot pot restaurant for a meal.

The store manager knew the owner, Zhao Qinglan, and they were immediately taken to the largest and best private room in the store.

Zhao Qinglan took the menu and handed it to the children.

"You can choose whatever you want to eat, don't be shy with Auntie."

"Thank you, Auntie." The two roommates then took the menu and looked at it.

My roommate from the south has eaten hot pot before, but my roommate from the northeast hasn't. He said that in his hometown, they mostly eat various kinds of stews cooked in iron pots, like stewed goose or stewed chicken. He would like to invite everyone to try his hometown's specialties if there's a chance.

After the meal, Da Wa had become quite familiar with his two roommates.

After dinner, Zhao Qinglan remembered that her son was still missing some daily necessities, so she took them to her family's supermarket in Beijing to shop for them.

Knowing that the hot pot restaurant belonged to their family was enough to surprise the two roommates about Da Wa's family background, but they didn't expect that the supermarket was also owned by their family.

It wasn't that Zhao Qinglan wanted to show off, but there were still few supermarkets in the capital at the moment, and her own store had a wider selection of goods.
