Perhaps the years of hard work at the Wang family had taken a toll on his health.
Zhao Qinglan didn't sleep well that night; her lower abdomen ached slightly.
However, everyone in the family was asleep, and she didn't want to get up and cause any more trouble.
As soon as Li Huai woke up in the morning, Zhao Qinglan also got up.
Seeing that her face was a little pale, Li Huai became worried.
"Are you feeling very unwell? Should we go to the infirmary?"
Zhao Qinglan shook her head. "No need, it's normal."
Is this normal? He only remembered that Zhu Kexin seemed to be doing okay when she had her period before, but he really didn't know how other people would react.
"If you're not feeling well, don't push yourself. Don't cook lunch; I'll bring some back from the cafeteria."
Li Huai was considerate, and Zhao Qinglan didn't force herself, nodding in agreement.
As soon as Li Huai left, Zhao Qinglan found a glass bottle, filled it with hot water, leaned against it, and placed the hot water bottle on her stomach.
After warming up for a while, she felt much more comfortable.
Although Li Huai said he would bring lunch back from the cafeteria, he still couldn't skip breakfast.
Once she calmed down, she went to prepare breakfast.
Sweet potato porridge, pickled vegetables, and after thinking for a moment, she also made some dough and spread out a few pancakes.
After the children got up to eat, the eldest child quickly noticed Zhao Qinglan's unusual behavior.
"What's wrong with you?" he asked directly.
"I'm fine, kids, don't worry about it." How could she tell the children that she was having her period?
Perhaps noticing that she wasn't feeling well, Da Wa took the lead in cleaning up as soon as they finished eating, without her having to ask, which warmed Zhao Qinglan's heart.
Thinking about the classes she still had to teach, Zhao Qinglan made herself another enamel mug of brown sugar water.
Seeing the brown sugar water and noticing Zhao Qinglan's uncomfortable appearance, Da Wa suddenly thought of something.
He remembered that a few days ago, when he and his younger brother were having dinner at their aunt's house next door, their older sister was not feeling well, so their aunt made her some brown sugar water.
After finishing tidying up, Da Wa ran out while Zhao Qinglan wasn't paying attention.
"Auntie, Auntie, I have something to ask you," Da Wa said as he entered the room.
Wu Mei was knitting a sweater when she heard this and smiled.
"What's up, big brother?"
"Auntie, I remember last time when Jiajia wasn't feeling well, you gave her brown sugar water. Why?" he asked curiously.
Wu Mei realized what was happening and chuckled, "You silly child, this isn't something you kids should know."
Why can't a child know? The older child's face scrunched up.
Seeing him like this, Wu Mei's heart softened. "Da Wa, why are you suddenly asking about this?"
Da Wa immediately became shy. "Well, I saw that she wasn't feeling well and was drinking brown sugar water. I was thinking that Jiajia was like that last time, so I wanted to know what was wrong with her."
It took Wu Mei a long time to realize that "she" referred to Zhao Qinglan.
Without explaining to Da Wa, Wu Mei put down the sweater in her hand and walked over.
Zhao Qinglan came out of the house and was wondering why she didn't see Da Wa. Then she saw Da Wa following Wu Mei in.
"Sister-in-law, what brings you here?" Zhao Qinglan stood up.
"Are you on your period?"
Zhao Qinglan was stunned for a moment, then nodded. Could it be that Li Huai said it?
"Hey, I understood as soon as I heard what Da Wa said, you're feeling really bad?"
"Thankfully, I filled a thermos and drank some brown sugar water, and I feel much better now."
"That's good. It's getting colder and colder now, so you have to be careful not to catch a cold." If something goes wrong, it could be a lifelong problem.
"Don't worry, sister-in-law, I know what's important."
Da Wa listened silently to their conversation, already analyzing in his mind what "coming up" meant.
"It's good that you know. Although you already have Xiaoduo, you're still young. You can give Li Huaisheng another one later."
If these two people have a child, their relationship will be completely different.
Besides, although conditions are generally not good these days, no family thinks they have too many children; more children bring more blessings.
Unexpectedly, Wu Mei went off on such a tangent that even Zhao Qinglan, with her rich experience, felt a little embarrassed.
"Sister-in-law, you can continue with your work. Don't worry about me."
"Okay, remember to call me if you need anything."
Zhao Qinglan breathed a sigh of relief after watching Wu Mei leave.
Looking at the older child standing to the side, deep in thought with a furrowed brow, I suddenly couldn't help but laugh.
This child actually went next door to ask. Oh well, I'll just tell him anyway, so he won't go asking someone else and make a fool of himself.
“Big sister, every woman, once she reaches a certain age, will have a few uncomfortable days every month. During this time, she can’t eat or drink cold food or drinks, and she can’t touch cold water. This is not an illness, it’s just a normal situation, so don’t be afraid,” she said earnestly.
Although the eldest child is young, his comprehension ability is not bad.
He nodded upon hearing this. "I understand."
Being a woman is really troublesome; I have to feel unwell every month. Luckily, I'm a man, Da Wa suddenly felt grateful.
The eldest brother, showing great elder brotherly demeanor, instructed his younger siblings that Zhao Qinglan hadn't been feeling well these past few days, but was still in a normal state and there was no need to worry. However, he reminded them to make sure she didn't eat or touch anything cold.
Seeing how serious the eldest child was, both Xiaoduo and Erwa nodded solemnly.
Upon hearing this, Zhao Qinglan genuinely felt that Da Wa was incredibly thoughtful and a true sweetheart.
As the weather grew colder, Zhao Qinglan worried that the children might catch a cold if they went out to play, so even when they weren't in class, she kept them indoors and didn't let them go out easily.
As expected, Li Huai brought back lunch at noon. Although it didn't taste as good as Zhao Qinglan's cooking, it was better than nothing.
Upon seeing his father, the eldest son whispered some instructions to him.
