The eldest child took the train to school.
Zhao Qinglan and her husband saw their son off together.
As she watched the train slowly pull away, she felt reluctant to leave.
"If I leave now, it will be at least half a year before I see you again."
Li Huai put his arm around his wife's shoulder to comfort her. "How could that be? It's not like you can't go to the capital."
"That's true." Zhao Qinglan felt a little better. Yes, she still had business in the capital, and she might be gone soon.
Once the Lantern Festival is over, the children go back to school, and the festive atmosphere fades.
Now that there's an elderly man in the house, Zhao Qinglan, knowing that she and her husband are often at work during the day, finally hired a caregiver.
The nanny was introduced to her by Wu Mei, and it must be said that Wu Mei always has a unique talent when it comes to interpersonal relationships.
Anyway, I get along very well with everyone in the family building now, and I always know things that ordinary people don't.
Zhao Qinglan felt that if she hadn't lured Wu Mei into the company, she would have been perfectly suited to be a women's director or something similar.
Previously, she spent the Spring Festival at home and went to Beijing. Even after returning to the provincial capital, Zhao Qinglan stayed at home for several days because her grandfather had not gone to the company much.
When she reappeared, she seemed different.
Although she wasn't exactly approachable in the past, she was always very kind to her employees and subordinates, so everyone dared to greet her warmly when they saw her.
But after what happened at the annual meeting, some employees couldn't help but feel a little apprehensive when they saw her again.
It wasn't that Huohe had done anything wrong or made a mistake, but he realized that no matter how amiable Zhao Qinglan was in private, she was still the big boss of the company and could affect their lives at any moment.
This has its advantages and disadvantages, and Zhao Qinglan can figure it out.
The company will only have more and more employees in the future. Does she, as the boss, have to consider the feelings of every employee and maintain good relationships with everyone?
As long as it's generally acceptable, she's content.
Having a nanny at home makes all the difference.
Zhao Qinglan paid a good salary, and the nanny was also very dedicated.
Besides preparing three meals a day in various ways, she also takes care of most of the housework.
Zhao Qinglan had never felt particularly tired before, but now she felt exceptionally relaxed.
Aside from the occasional moment when she feels like cooking, she basically has nothing to do at home.
The nanny was very responsible, and Zhao Qinglan, the employer, became more and more generous. She would give the nanny some of the extra vegetables and fruits in the house, or some rare foods, so that she could take them home.
Every week, Zhao Qinglan would give the aunt a day off to rest. When the aunt returned home, her family said that they couldn't find a better employer than this one, and told her to work hard.
The second child contacted his older brother to mention that they had a new nanny, and the eldest child seemed quite supportive.
"Mom still has to work. There are so many people in our family. It would be good to hire someone to help out."
"Brother, it's just that some of the dishes Auntie makes aren't as good as Mom's." It was only because Auntie was off work that day that Erwa dared to say this.
"You should be content. Go ask around in your class and see how many students eat better than you on a regular basis."
Look at him now, he can only eat at the school cafeteria every day. He can only go out and have a good meal with his roommates when he finally gets a holiday.
The food in the cafeteria wasn't too bad; it was just mass-produced food, and the variety was always the same. You got tired of it after a while.
Da Wa had treated his two roommates to a meal when he first came to school, so he was closest to them in the dormitory.
However, both roommates kept their mouths shut and didn't mention the hot pot restaurant and supermarket owned by Da Wa's family to the later guests.
Da Wa lives a very low-key life like any other ordinary college student, and you can't tell at all that his family is particularly well-off.
When Zhang's father visited his old friends, he casually mentioned to Li Zhenhua that his eldest son was at a military academy in Beijing, and Li Zhenhua immediately took notice.
Li Zhenhua didn't know that Zhao Qinglan and her group came to Beijing during the Chinese New Year, but he had been thinking about finding an opportunity to visit his eldest grandson.
If his grandson won't come to see him, surely he can go see his grandson.
Da Wa had just returned to his dormitory after class when he heard someone shouting outside.
"Li Yansen, someone is looking for you."
The students were very enthusiastic; whenever someone was looking for someone downstairs, they would help call out to them.
The eldest child wondered who it was. When he went downstairs, he saw an old man being pushed in a wheelchair.
After a moment of confusion, Da Wa recognized him as his own grandfather, Li Zhenhua.
“Big brother, Grandpa has come to see you.” Li Zhenhua said excitedly.
Seeing the students coming and going around them, the eldest child stepped forward and took the wheelchair. "Let's go somewhere else to talk."
Pushed along by his grandson, Li Zhenhua became even more excited, glancing at the tall and imposing figure every now and then.
Da Wa remained silent until they reached a secluded spot, where he stopped his wheelchair and sat down on a nearby public bench.
"Why have you come?" He didn't know how to face Li Zhenhua.
The eldest child hadn't experienced what his grandmother went through; he only vaguely remembered some childhood memories. To say he hated Li Zhenhua wouldn't be accurate, perhaps because they hadn't spent much time together and therefore didn't have any real feelings for each other.
There was no hatred, and even less longing. He knew how his parents, especially his father, felt about his grandfather, so naturally they would never mention or even think of Li Zhenhua in their daily lives.
"Grandpa is so happy to know you got into this school. My grandson is really promising. Grandpa just wanted to see you."
Because there was no hatred, Da Wa wouldn't speak ill of Li Zhenhua, but he also didn't know how to respond, so he just gave a faint "hmm".
