Chapter 533 Wang Anni's Approach

In fact, Han Yi only knew the basic information about Xiao Duo, and didn't know much more.

And he's not stupid; he answers every question people ask.

But Wang Anni had been through so much, she was more experienced, and she didn't expect to find out much about Xiao Duo from Han Yi in the first place.

She only needed to confirm that this Li Xiaoduo was the same Li Xiaoduo she knew.

When Wang Anni jokingly told him that he and his girlfriend had a good relationship and were always inseparable, Han Yi didn't clarify at all.

It was only when Wang Anni, under the guise of concern, inquired about whether he and his girlfriend had received support from their families and how long they had known each other—all sorts of trivial matters—that Han Yi inadvertently revealed some information about Xiao Duo.

Although his feelings for Xiaoduo remained unchanged, Han Yi also got along very well with Wang Anni.

Besides what Han Yi heard, Wang Anni also inquired about Xiao Duo's information by going to her school.

Wang Anni didn't tell her family about meeting Li Xiaoduo; she just wanted to find an opportunity to get revenge herself.

If she were to speak up, her father and cowardly, incompetent brother might not be willing to let her take action.

Wang Xiaofei was not very capable to begin with, and later he got into trouble with the casino, suffered a lot, and was terrified.

Even now, even in the US, they only dare to drift through life, eating, drinking, and having fun, but dare not cause trouble.

Because Zhao Qinglan and her husband had agreed not to ask Xiaoduo to come back and make arrangements for Li Zhenhua's passing, they didn't tell Xiaoduo, fearing that Xiaoduo would worry if she knew.

Once abroad, even though Zhao Qinglan was willing to spend money on international calls, it wasn't as convenient to stay in touch, so she and her daughter didn't contact each other very frequently.

To be honest, many people in the US are happy to see the collapse of Big Brother, since they have always considered themselves the world's hegemon and the strongest country, while Big Brother has been the only major power that has been able to rival them since the Cold War.

Although Xiaoduo was also concerned about this matter, she didn't want to get involved in the school's debates or even participate in marches, for fear of accidentally getting into trouble.

When she saw Han Yi again at school, she suddenly remembered the scene in the bathroom earlier and quickly shook her head to try and clear her mind of that image.

"Xiaoduo, be careful these next few days. Our identities are rather sensitive."

"I know." She's not stupid.

"By the way, are you going home for Chinese New Year?"

"I don't know yet."

"If you're going back, let me know. Maybe there are other people traveling with you. It'll be good to keep each other company on the road."

"Okay." Xiao Duo didn't refuse.

After finishing his conversation with Xiaoduo, he left the school and got into Wang Anni's car.

"Going off to be all lovey-dovey with your girlfriend again?" Wang Anni teased deliberately.

"No, we just exchanged a few words," Han Yi said with a smile.

"Oh, I really envy your sincere feelings, which have remained unshaken even after you've traveled from China to abroad." She sounded somewhat downcast.

Perhaps feeling guilty, Han Yi didn't want to boast about how good his relationship with his girlfriend was, and only comforted her by saying, "You're a good person, you'll meet someone like that sooner or later."

Because Wang Anni intentionally or unintentionally complained, he also learned that his mother was with the mixed-race person in that small circle that day.

However, according to Wang Anni, their relationship has already run into problems, and a breakup is only a matter of time.

"Alright, alright, look at me, why do I keep talking about these depressing things? Let's hurry over, they're still waiting at the bar."

Today, Wang Anni had arranged to take Han Yi to meet some new friends.

Seeing that Wang Anni seemed to have good relationships with people in her inner circle and was actively trying to befriend them, Han Yi was also interested in making her acquaintance.

Lan Song was playing billiards with someone, while Zhou Yunting was throwing darts by himself.

"Young Master Lan, where's your girlfriend?"

"Who knows where it went?" Lan Song bent down and hit the ball.

"Are you changing your personnel?"

"We'll see. It's best to part ways amicably, but I haven't found the next suitable one yet."

"You've seen too many flowers, and your standards have become too high."

Lan Song didn't mind being teased; he just nodded towards Zhou Yunting, who was throwing darts.

"No matter how high my standards are, they can't be that high. I've never seen a woman around him last more than a day, oh right, except for his relatives."

"I'm not deaf yet." Zhou Yunting threw a dart without turning his head, hitting the bullseye.

Lan Song stopped playing, put down his pool cue, wiped his hands, and walked over.

"I'm not saying this to be mean, but after all these years, haven't you found anyone you like? Are you planning to spend the rest of your life alone?"

Zhou Yunting glanced at him sideways. "Or do something reckless like you?" He would rather have nothing than something bad.

Lan Song glared. "My ex-girlfriends and I were all in it for mutual consent, don't slander me."

Zhou Yunting ignored him and continued throwing his darts.

Lan Song and his companion shrugged and stopped.

Well, he's always been like this since he was a kid, he should be used to it by now.

After finishing his gathering with Lan Song, Zhou Yunting could go back. As soon as he entered the house, people started talking.

"Your grandfather called and asked you to come home for Chinese New Year this year."

Zhou Yunting frowned. "I'm not going back."

The speaker sighed. "Yun Ting, don't be willful. It's hard to say who was right and who was wrong back then. Your grandfather was just too stubborn, and your father and I were just unlucky."

Zhou Yunting remained silent.

"Please, Mom, I'm begging you."

"I'll go." He then went back to his room.

Once back inside, he started to space out.

He hasn't been back to China for many years, almost ten years now.

Back then, the domestic situation was not good, and because of his maternal grandfather's family, his mother was also targeted and hurriedly went abroad.

He was very young then, crying for his mother, but his grandfather wouldn't let him go with her, saying that he was a descendant of the Zhou family. Two years after his mother left, someone attacked the Zhou family because of his mother, so his grandfather forced his father to announce that he was severing ties with his mother and getting a divorce.

He was often ridiculed and faced harsh words.

From a young age, he had a strained relationship with his father and grandfather. It wasn't until after the reform and opening up, when the situation improved and his mother returned to China, that she took him away.

Although he knew later in life that some of the things that happened back then were due to circumstances, he still didn't want to go back to that home because he was forced to separate from his mother and because of all the things he had experienced since childhood.

But he never wanted to upset his mother.

Meanwhile, Xiaoduo also made a phone call home.

"Don't worry about the expensive airfare. Come back whenever you can. Your mom and dad miss you very much."

"I know, Mom, I miss you all too."

After hanging up the phone, Xiaoduo made up her mind to go home for the Chinese New Year.

Plane tickets need to be booked in advance, and since she was going back to China, it wouldn't be appropriate to leave her bodyguards behind.

However, after inquiring, two people volunteered to stay and look after the house, allowing her to take two of them back to China and protect her safety on the way.

The four of them don't all stay with Xiaoduo around the clock; they take turns in two shifts.

Thinking that even if they returned to China, they would still follow her back to Guangzhou, Xiaoduo didn't insist.

Because she had promised Han Yi, she hesitated for a moment but still told him about her decision to go back to China for the Chinese New Year.
