Chapter 552 Verifying Identity

After doing what she could, Zhao Qinglan still had worries in her heart.

When her husband returned home, she told him about it.

Upon hearing that someone resembling Wang Xiaoyan had appeared beside Xiao Duo, Li Huai also became worried.

However, knowing that his wife was very worried, Li Huai remained very calm on the surface.

"Xiaoduo is right. Even if you rush there now, there's nothing you can do. Qinglan, you've done what you could. Now just wait for news. Xiaoduo is already prepared, and that's the most important thing."

After saying that, he took his wife's hand.

At this moment, perhaps only Li Huai in the family could understand Zhao Qinglan's fear.

After all, only he knew about his wife's unresolved issues from her past life.

Although Zhao Qinglan tried her best to hide it, Sanwa still noticed that she was in low spirits and had something on her mind.

Sanwa has always cared a lot about his mother.

Thinking that everything was fine at home, he didn't understand what had happened and could only be more careful.

Zhou Yunting made a promise to Zhao Qinglan and didn't sit idle; he quickly took action.

He had felt that there was something wrong with Wang Anni from the beginning, and he had asked his friend Lan Song about it, but he didn't get much information.

Now that he knows Wang Anni might hurt Xiaoduo, his heart aches.

Their family runs legitimate businesses, but they do know a lot of people from all walks of life; the Lan Song family even has influence in this area.

Ignoring the fact that it was already dark, he went out and drove to find Lan Song.

It's better to say things in person; explaining them over the phone is too troublesome.

Seeing her son about to go out late at night, Yi Ningxiang, as a mother, naturally had to ask him questions.

Zhou Yunting didn't want to say anything that was still uncertain and worry his mother, so he just said that he suddenly remembered he had something to do and needed to see Lan Song.

Yi Ningxiang didn't suspect anything, but simply told her son not to come back too late.

Lan Song has been having a run of bad luck lately, and he's even been going to bars and nightclubs less often.

Zhou Yunting was lucky; when he arrived, Zhou was drinking alone at his residence.

When his friend arrived, Lan Song raised his glass and invited him to drink together.

However, Zhou Yunting took the cup from his friend's hand.

"Lan Song, I need your help with something right now."

Seeing his friend's serious expression, Lan Song's nonchalant attitude disappeared.

"What's up?"

"Find out Wang Anni's background as soon as possible."

Of course, he could contact someone to investigate himself, but after thinking it over, he decided that Lan Song was the fastest and the one he trusted the most.

Lan Song raised an eyebrow. "Why did you suddenly decide to investigate her?"

He didn't hide anything from his friend Zhou Yunting. "I just found out that Wang Anni might be Xiaoduo's half-sister, and she's been hostile to Xiaoduo since they were little. We have a grudge against each other, and I'm afraid she might harm Xiaoduo, so I need to find out her identity first."

Lan Song was shocked. "Half-siblings? Really?" The two didn't even look alike.

Xiao Duo looks more like her mother, Zhao Qinglan; the two of them naturally don't resemble each other.

"Now I need your help to verify if this is true."

"Okay." Lan Song not only made a few phone calls, but also went out with Zhou Yunting to meet someone.

By the time all of this was done, it was already past midnight.

Zhou Yunting didn't go home; he stayed at Lan Song's place for the night.

Xiao Duo was unaware of his arduous journey.

He doesn't plan to tell Xiaoduo for the time being.

Although he went to bed very late at night, Zhou Yunting went home early in the morning, took a shower, changed his clothes, and then went out to Xiao Duo's house again.

Xiaoduo was happy to see her boyfriend, but she also started muttering to herself.

"My mom insisted on having your contact information, so I gave it to her. Has she contacted you since?"

Zhou Yunting had no choice but to nod. "My aunt called me and asked me to take good care of you."

Xiao Duo pouted. "I'm such a grown-up, and my mom still doesn't trust me."

Xiao Duo didn't know what kind of disaster she had avoided because of her mother. Although she knew that her half-sister Wang Xiaoyan was not a good person, she was not as worried as her mother.

"Your aunt is just concerned about you," Zhou Yunting said with a smile.

Xiao Duo didn't ask any further questions, so Zhou Yunting didn't mention anything else and, together with his bodyguard, escorted Xiao Duo to school.

They had arranged to have dinner together that evening. Zhou Yunting watched his girlfriend enter the classroom before leaving to find Lan Song.

"So, any news yet?"

"It can't be that fast. I need to give my people some time," Lan Song said helplessly.

Zhou Yunting leaned back on the sofa and pinched the bridge of his nose.

"I can tell you didn't get much rest last night. Why don't you get some more sleep? I'll wake you up if I get any news."

Zhou Yunting nodded.

Wang Anni, who was being investigated, was now fully awake and came downstairs from her apartment.

Upon seeing his daughter, Wang Dazhi began to inquire about her.

"Your brother always leaves early and comes home late, and you, a young woman, are doing the same thing all the time. Are you two trying to drive me crazy?"

After wandering to the United States, most of their wealth was gone, and the Wang family was now only slightly better off than a middle-class family.

They own a car and a house, and have several storefronts, but they are far from being truly wealthy.

Wang Dazhi also looked much older, with gray hair growing at his temples.

Wang Anni yawned and sat down at the table.

"Dad, don't worry about my affairs."

She realized that her father was probably too idle these days, and he was becoming more and more talkative.

"Fine, if you don't want me to manage it, then don't spend my money."

Upon hearing this, Wang Anni finally took it seriously and quickly put on a smiling face.

"Dad, I'm not like my brother who's a good-for-nothing. I'm looking for a great son-in-law for you. If I marry into a good family, won't our family benefit too?"

Upon hearing this, Wang Dazhi's expression softened somewhat. "You're more sensible than your brother."

After dealing with her father for quite a while and eating something quick, Wang Anni drove off.

Now that she's had a falling out with Han Yi, she doesn't want to go to him. Instead, she's planning to go to the places Lan Song used to take her to, to find out more about Zhou Yunting.

She still didn't want her father to know about seeing Xiaoduo.

She felt that her father was getting old and had become more cautious and conservative in his actions. If her father knew that she wanted to deal with Li Xiaoduo, he might not agree.

After some twists and turns, Lan Song's side also found Wang Xiaofei after he changed his name.

The investigation would be too slow. Knowing that the young master was in a hurry, they went directly to Wang Xiaofei, blindfolded him, and took him away.

Wang Xiaofei was suddenly taken to an unfamiliar place, his hands and feet were tied, and his eyes were covered. He was terrified. After the gag in his mouth was removed, he began to beg for mercy repeatedly.

He was overthinking it. The people who kidnapped him weren't after money or wanted to kill him; they just wanted to get information about the Wang family from him.

Wang Xiaofei confessed incredibly quickly; he hadn't even been hit many times before revealing all his secrets.

Seeing that he was cooperating, he was quickly taken to a secluded spot, thrown out of the car, and released.

While in the car, he was warned not to call the police or tell anyone else what happened that day.

Wang Xiaofei only wanted to live, so how could he dare to refuse?

Zhou Yunting was woken up by Lan Song.

"Yun Ting, there's news."

Zhou Yunting immediately perked up.
