With everything settled on Mother's side, the third child can now focus on his studies at school without worry.
He also kept up with the work in the lab.
He is now more diligent than before.
Xiao Duo occasionally wants to meet up with her younger brother for a meal, but she can't get him to come out.
She tried to catch him at his brother's house, but she could never find him. She even began to wonder if her brother came home to sleep every day.
Her suspicions were correct; Sanwa did indeed sometimes not come home.
He couldn't disrupt the normal progress of his supervisor's lab projects. If he wanted to conduct experiments privately, he would usually choose a time when the senior students were resting and had left.
As a result, he had to cut back on his rest time, and sometimes he would live in the laboratory while waiting for the experimental results.
When his supervisor saw that he was working too hard and called him over to tell him to slow down and not push himself so hard, Sanwa took out his paper.
He finally finished his first paper before the end of the semester.
The tutor had only glanced at it casually at first, but then he became engrossed in it.
Every now and then, they would catch the third child and ask him some questions, just like a thesis defense.
Two hours had passed by the time they finished talking.
"Good, very good. Apart from a few minor flaws that need some revision, your paper is ready for publication."
After she finished speaking, the way she looked at the third child was completely different.
Knowing that the child was outstanding, he snatched him away from a colleague.
Despite the fact that he was only a freshman, he allowed him to join his project.
He thought he had overestimated and valued Sanwa, but unexpectedly, the child produced a very impressive paper before even finishing his first year of university.
That's right, it's extremely substantial.
Sanwa was overjoyed by his mentor's affirmation.
"Teacher, I've revised it. Could you give me some suggestions on where to post it?"
Although he had read many papers, he had no experience in publishing them.
"Of course, once it's revised, I'll recommend a few journals to you."
As he spoke, he mentioned them briefly, and surprisingly, none of them were from China.
It's not that the supervisor looks down on domestic academic journals, but rather that in the academic field, foreign journals are indeed more experienced, advanced, and influential.
Moreover, he felt that Sanwa's paper would definitely have been approved by those journals if the editors hadn't had eye problems.
It's important to know that the impact factors and coefficients obtained by the top journals are all different.
A single paper published in a good journal is equivalent to dozens of papers published in some ordinary journals, and this is not something that can be viewed simply as addition or subtraction.
Being able to publish relevant papers in top-tier academic journals can help one go further and achieve greater success in their field. When applying for professional titles or participating in selection for relevant honors, these factors are often considered.
Publishing more influential papers in top international journals will greatly enhance one's reputation in the international academic community.
Sanwa does know about impact factors, but he used to just read papers without doing much research.
Now that my mentor has explained it to me, I realize there's a lot to learn here.
Under his supervisor's guidance, he corrected the flaws in his thesis.
The next big task is to convert his thesis into a completely English version.
That's right. Sanwa initially wrote a paper in pure Chinese, but to submit it to a foreign journal, he had to submit the English version.
Fortunately, the third child is already very good at English.
It wasn't until the third brother was revising the language version of his thesis that Xiao Duo, the older sister, finally met her younger brother.
After all, Xiaoduo studied in the US for several years and successfully wrote and published her graduation thesis. In terms of English proficiency, she is better than her younger brother, who only studied English but didn't use it much.
Sanwa didn't want to keep bothering his supervisor with translating a paper, so he asked his older sister for help.
Knowing that her younger brother had written a paper while only a freshman and had received recognition from his advisor, even though they were not in the same major and she couldn't understand the content of the paper at all, did not stop her from putting in great enthusiasm.
With her older sister's help, Sanwa quickly produced the English version of her thesis.
After submitting it to my supervisor, I made some formatting changes and then submitted it to the journals recommended by my supervisor.
"Yan'an, the review process for those journals is very slow. Unless you have a special channel, it usually takes several months to get a result. During this time, just do what you need to do and don't be impatient."
Sanwa wasn't in a hurry, and nodded in agreement.
It's almost time for final exams and summer vacation. He can relax a bit during the summer vacation. He's been stressed for so long, he deserves a break.
The final exam was very easy for the three kids.
After finishing his first-year exams, he also asked his advisor about the process for graduating early.
Tsinghua University is full of talented people. Over the years, there have been outstanding individuals who graduated early, but they are few and far between.
When Sanwa mentioned the graduation process, to be honest, even the counselors didn't know much about it.
There was no other way, so the counselor had to go to the school's academic affairs office to find out more from the senior staff.
The counselor was surprised, but not particularly shocked, when Sanwa mentioned wanting to complete his credits and graduate.
After all, from being admitted to university through the guaranteed admission program to now, almost at the end of his freshman year, Da Wa has done quite a few amazing things. While he might not be considered a prodigy, calling him a genius would be well-deserved.
After understanding the specific procedures, Sanwa had a clear idea of what to do, and he found something to pass the time during the long summer vacation.
Some people might think that he should be taking a good rest.
In Sanwa's view, not having to attend classes or go to the professor's lab, and simply flipping through second- and third-year textbooks every day to continue his studies, is already a form of relaxation.
