Chapter 7 Seeking Support

Finally, it was lunchtime, and Director Liu put down his newspaper and went outside.

People in the office also came out one by one, heading towards the cafeteria in small groups.

Everyone greeted each other and exchanged pleasantries. Some discussed what they would eat in the cafeteria today, while others excitedly recounted the farce that had occurred earlier.

"I think I've dealt with Xiao Sui pretty well," Director Liu thought as he walked into the canteen, where he saw a mother and daughter sitting there enjoying their meal.

"Xiao Zhao, you're lucky today, the cafeteria is serving meat dishes. You and your daughter should eat more." Director Sui felt a pang of sadness watching the mother and daughter enjoying their meal.

You know, Wang Dazhi is a workshop director, and his salary isn't low, so how could he treat this mother and daughter so badly?

Many people who entered the cafeteria noticed them, and some who had witnessed the scene earlier started pointing and whispering.

Factory Director Liu felt he had no choice but to go and say something; why was this young Sui still keeping him around?

He walked over with a smile on his face.

"Little Sui, time to eat."

"Factory Director." Director Sui immediately stood up.

Seeing that Zhao Chunlan and her daughter were about to stand up, Director Liu quickly pressed their hands down. "Please sit down, please sit down."

The group sat down again. "Keep eating, don't be shy."

After exchanging pleasantries, Director Liu looked at Director Sui. "Little Sui, you did a good job." There was no trace of the fact that he had just been inwardly criticizing Director Sui for being slow.

"By the way, how did it go?" Director Liu gestured with his chin toward Zhao Chunlan and her daughter.

When Director Sui saw Factory Director Liu, his initial enthusiasm waned, and his office-savvy emotional intelligence returned.

"Well, factory manager, Comrade Xiao Zhao insists on getting a divorce, so..." She trailed off, unable to continue.

What? You want a divorce? What have you been doing all this time?! Director Liu was displeased.

Zhao Qinglan noticed Director Sui's embarrassment and immediately put down her chopsticks.

"Director Liu, this has nothing to do with Director Sui. Don't blame her. It was me who insisted on getting a divorce. Director Sui had actually tried to persuade me to stay." She wouldn't betray someone who was kind to her and genuinely helped her.

She cherishes every bit of kindness shown to her by others.

Director Sui felt warmed by what he heard, and his initial hesitation about whether to continue helping was renewed.

"Factory manager, actually, Xiao Zhao also has his own difficulties."

Factory Director Liu glared at her and then looked at Zhao Qinglan.

"Comrade Zhao, think about it, you're a woman with a child. How will you live after the divorce? You can't act impulsively," Director Liu said earnestly.

Seeing that Zhao Qinglan remained silent, he continued, "Even if not for yourself, think about the child."

No, it was precisely because of Xiaoduo that she could no longer stay in that home.

Since the Wang family did such things in their past lives, how can we guarantee they won't do the same in this life?

Zhao Qinglan lacked the confidence to protect her daughter at all times, so she decided to leave as soon as possible rather than stay in that house living in fear.

She wanted to ensure that the Wang family could never again reach out to her daughter.

"Director Liu, thank you for your kindness. You and Sister Sui are both good people. I don't want to cause trouble for our factory, but..."

Zhao Qinglan paused for a moment. "But if we don't get a divorce, our family might end up causing a lot of trouble for the factory in the future," she subtly reminded them.

Director Liu immediately thought of today's farce, and the thought that such a thing might happen every few days in the future gave him a headache.

Whether the couple divorces or not is none of his business. He doesn't care whether the family is happy or not; all he cares about is the stability of the factory.

In the past, it was just a subconscious habit to advise reconciliation rather than separation. But now, if Zhao Qinglan's divorce would benefit the factory more, he would naturally support her divorce.

Zhao Qinglan noticed the change in Director Liu's expression.

Ha, how could someone who has no connection with her genuinely care about her? As long as you hit her sore spot, she'll weigh the pros and cons. That's exactly what she wants.

If Zhao Qinglan showed some sincerity towards Director Sui, then towards Factory Director Liu, it was all about scheming and manipulation.

"Sigh, Xiao Zhao, this divorce isn't just your decision; the factory also needs to respect Wang Dazhi's personal wishes."

That means the factory agreed, right? Hearing what she wanted to hear most, Zhao Qinglan also expressed her opinion.

"Factory manager, I will also persuade Wang Dazhi to agree to the divorce, but if you can, please also help me persuade him."

"Well," Director Liu said, looking at Director Sui.

Little Sui, surprised that things had turned out this way, smiled and instructed, "Little Sui, since you've taken on this task, see it through to the end. You'll handle the ideological work with Wang Dazhi. Any problems?"

"Even if there's a problem, you have to say there isn't," Director Sui thought to himself. "I guarantee I'll complete the task."

"Alright, alright, then you can continue eating." With that, Director Liu walked away with his hands behind his back.

Zhao Qinglan glanced at her daughter, who was still enjoying her meal, and then discussed the matter with Director Sui.

"Big sister, you should go home and rest later. I'm taking Xiaoduo home with me."

"Are you sure you can manage on your own?" Director Sui asked worriedly, mainly because he was thinking about the Wang family's attitude towards Zhao Qinglan and was afraid that she would suffer if she went back alone.

"It's alright, big sister. Don't worry, go back home. I'll come find you if anything comes up."

"Alright, I'm going back now." Looking at his watch, Director Sui realized he wouldn't have time to cook at home, so he quickly grabbed two dishes from the window and left, even borrowing two enamel mugs from the cafeteria.

After Xiaoduo finished eating, Zhao Qinglan took out a handkerchief to wipe her daughter's mouth and led her to the building where they lived.

Looking at her own apartment upstairs, Zhao Qinglan remained silent for a while.
