Chapter 84 brings good news.

While waiting for the signboard to be completed, Zhao Qinglan finally decided to take a good rest and not go into the city.

She also told her mother and sister to take this opportunity to get some rest, as they would definitely be busy once the snack shop opened.

When that time comes, it won't be easy for them to get a proper rest.

Zhao Qinglan's confidence in her skills made her believe that the snack shop's business would definitely be good in the future.

The three children went to the city for several days in a row. Although there was good food, they were happy to stay at home and rest.

Knowing that the children hadn't slept in for a long time, Zhao Qinglan let them sleep in as much as they wanted.

It was her who had been leaving early and returning late these past few days, and had to worry about so many things; she was quite exhausted, both physically and mentally.

On her first day away from the city, she also overslept.

Zhao Qinglan didn't go to town that day, and Wu Mei next door was unaware of this, wondering why Zhao Qinglan hadn't come over yet.

In the past, Zhao Qinglan would always come to let her know before leaving.

Zhao Qinglan didn't go, but Qian Hongxia, who was always keeping an eye on her movements, did notice.

Although she had been instructed by her husband to stop going into the city, Qian Hongxia would still rush over in the morning to check if Zhao Qinglan had taken the children into the city.

Qian Hongxia was puzzled when she didn't see her this morning.

However, given her terrible relationship with Zhao Qinglan, even if she had doubts, she didn't dare to ask and could only guess in secret.

Wu Mei waited and waited, but eventually couldn't sit still and came looking for her.

As soon as she entered the courtyard, she felt that the house was quiet.

It's this late, and Qinglan hasn't gone into the city or is at home? Where could she be?

Puzzled, Wu Mei walked to the door, only to find that there was no lock on the outside.

"The door isn't locked, is someone home?" she muttered as she walked over and knocked.

Actually, Zhao Qinglan had woken up, but thinking that the children were still sleeping, and wanting to stay warm under the covers, she continued to lie there.

She heard Wu Mei knock on the door as soon as she did. "Coming, wait a moment."

She quickly put on her coat and trousers, then slipped on her shoes and went outside to open the door.

Upon seeing Wu Mei, Zhao Qinglan smiled. "Sister-in-law, it's you."

Seeing her like this, Wu Mei shook her head helplessly. "I thought you weren't home, but you're still asleep."

"Sister-in-law, come in quickly."

After Wu Mei sat down, Zhao Qinglan picked up the thermos and poured water.

"Qinglan, are you not going into town today?" Wu Mei asked.

"I'm not going. I'll rest for a few days." With that, she put the bowl on the table.

"That's true. You're always out early and back late. Even if you can handle it, the children probably won't be able to keep up in the long run."

"Sister-in-law, you didn't see how happy Da Wa and the others were when they came to town with me every day." Zhao Qinglan couldn't help but smile when she thought about it.

"Oh, right, I came to see you to tell you something," Wu Mei said, remembering something.

"Sister-in-law, you say."

"I heard from my husband that Li Huai and the others will be back in a few days."

"Really!" Zhao Qinglan exclaimed happily; this was truly wonderful news.

"It's true, they say things have calmed down over there. In this freezing weather, we have to let people come back and relax." Wu Mei was also very happy when she mentioned this.

"Sister-in-law, thank you so much. If you hadn't told me, I definitely would have waited until Li Huai came back to find out."

"Hey, it's no big deal. Just keep it to yourself and don't talk about it outside," Wu Mei quickly instructed.

"I understand, I know what's important." Zhao Qinglan nodded.

"Oh, and Wei Hong too. I feel like she's got something on her mind. I asked her, but she won't say anything. She's even come looking for you a few times," Wu Mei started nagging.

"Wei Hong is looking for me?" Zhao Qinglan asked, puzzled.

"That's right. I don't know what she wants from you. Since you're resting at home, I reckon she'll come looking for you today."

After chatting for a few more minutes, Wu Mei got up and left.

Since she was already out, Zhao Qinglan didn't go back to sleep. She got dressed and started tidying up the house.

They haven't been home much these past few days, and the house is a bit dusty, so they need to clean it up properly, especially after hearing the news that Li Huai is coming back soon.

A warm blanket is especially comfortable in winter.

The three children were sleeping soundly, and it was only the aroma of Zhao Qinglan's cooking that wafted in and woke them up.

The second child was the first to wake up.

They went straight to bed after washing up as soon as they got back yesterday, and slept until this late. To be honest, they were hungry too.

As soon as he smelled the aroma, Erwa knew that his stepmother was cooking. Curious about what delicious food she had made, he jumped up in a flash.

Zhao Qinglan was just thinking of calling the children to get up, wash, and eat when the three children came out of the house one by one.

"Mom, what are you doing?" Erwa asked quickly.

"You have no choice in what you do, so hurry up and wash your hands and face."

Erwa stuck out his tongue and walked to the basin stand.

The older child pours hot water, and the younger child adds cold water.

The two brothers both insisted that Xiaoduo wash first, a habit they had developed over the past few days.

After washing their hands and faces, the three children went to the yard together to brush their teeth.

Seeing them working together made Zhao Qinglan feel quite gratified.

While the children were washing up, she quickly went inside, took out the chamber pots they had used, emptied them, and rinsed them clean.

There was a dry toilet in the yard, but it was too cold at night, and she was afraid that the children might accidentally fall into the latrine while they were half asleep, so she had the children use a chamber pot at night.

As for her, she basically sleeps until she wakes up in the morning and rarely goes out to use the restroom.

By the time the mother and her children sat down at the table to eat, it was almost lunchtime.

They've been eating well in the city these past few days, so Zhao Qinglan didn't make anything too complicated for this meal.
