Chapter 431 The Whole Family Gathers

As soon as people got up on the first day of the Lunar New Year, they started coming to Zhao Qinglan's house to offer their New Year's greetings.

The children in the family are all grown up and can help entertain guests.

When people sit together, they inevitably talk about the children. The eldest brother and his siblings are always the kind of children that everyone talks about, the ones who are brought to pay New Year's visits. Compared to them, most people don't feel so good.

The older kids couldn't help but chuckle at the distress of their peers and even the younger children.

Actually, if we don't mention this incident, the children still really enjoy coming to Zhao Qinglan's house, since they have the most delicious food.

Even if other families had candy, it was the kind they bought by weight at the supply and marketing cooperative. Zhao Qinglan, on the other hand, had quite a few imported candies, and even some rare chocolates.

Besides candy, there are also dried fruits, beverages, and snacks that are rarely seen in daily life.

Whenever someone came to pay New Year's visits, Zhao Qinglan would give the children red envelopes of varying amounts, depending on the closeness of the relationship.

What was a small amount of money in her red envelope would be considered a very generous gift elsewhere, so how could the children not be happy?

Zhang Wenjing didn't come to their house to wish them a Happy New Year on the first day of the Lunar New Year because she was too pregnant.

When there were fewer visitors, Zhao Qinglan and her husband took their children to visit Sun Shengli and Wu Mei.

Sun Shengli will be retiring in another year; his superiors have already informed him of this.

Having served in the military for so long, to be honest, Sun Shengli would find it quite difficult to settle down and have free time after retirement.

But in this life, he felt more indebted to his family.

In the early days, when his position was not high and his family could not accompany him to the military, his wife was left alone in their hometown to raise their child and take care of his parents.

So although he felt regretful about retiring, he also understood that while his legs were still able, he should spend more time with his wife.

Once Li Huai and the others arrived, Sun Shengli had a lot to say to them.

Meanwhile, Zhao Qinglan and Wu Mei also had a lot of gossip to share.

The children didn't need their elders to worry at all; they had already gathered together to play and chat.

Zhao Qinglan has basically lost contact with those people from the old residential area. Even though she doesn't have any superior thoughts, as her own circumstances have changed, she has gradually fallen behind those people from before.

She only learned about her old friends when her younger sister occasionally mentioned them.

Wu Mei, on the other hand, although she also moved away, still keeps in touch with many of the former military wives and knows a lot about them.

Not only in the old family compound, but also in the current family apartment buildings, Wu Mei knows a lot of gossip and interesting stories.

Zhao Qinglan listened with great interest, and ate a whole bunch of sunflower seed shells.

Wu Mei invited their whole family to stay for a simple meal.

On the second day of the Lunar New Year, Zhao Qingzhu took her child and husband to her sister's house and rested there for the night.

On the morning of the third day of the Lunar New Year, the two families set off together for the train station.

Because she had been spending every day with her family these past few days, and her husband and brother-in-law were also accompanying her to the capital, Zhao Qinglan told Ding Yu and Liu Dandan to rest and not to run around with her.

"I wonder when the airport in our provincial capital will be completed. Once we have an airport, it will be much more convenient for us to go to Beijing in the future," Zhao Qinglan said with emotion.

Zhao Qingzhu has never been on a plane before, and just thinking about it terrifies her. "Sis, even if there were a plane I could fly on, I wouldn't dare. Flying so high, I'd be scared to death."

"Second Aunt, just go to sleep once you get on the plane, and don't look down. It's not scary at all. Grandma has been on one before," Xiaoduo said.

“Yes, Second Aunt, you haven’t been to Great-Aunt’s house yet. To go to Great-Aunt’s house, you have to take a plane,” Erwa chimed in.

"Mom, I want to ride an airplane too," said Nannan, who is already in elementary school.

"Qingzhu, you won't be afraid if you sit on it a few more times."

"We'll see when the time comes." She decided to take the train rather than the plane if she could choose to go by train.

We chatted and laughed, and the time on the road passed quickly.

When they arrived in Beijing and exited the station, wow, three cars immediately came to pick them up.

One car was driven by Zhang Yu, another by Mrs. Sun's driver, and the third by Sun Guangming's driver. With the ten people from both families, all three cars were fully occupied.

Li Huai and his wife naturally got into Zhang Yu's car.

As his parents got older, Zhang Yu decided not to let them travel all the way back to Beijing for the Chinese New Year. Instead, he and his wife, Song Yi, took their two children back to Beijing.

Unaware that Li Huai and his group were coming, he volunteered to come and pick them up.

The two good brothers were extremely affectionate when they met.

"You little rascal, you hardly ever call me. How busy are you?" Zhang Yu complained.

"I've been delaying your important business, Mr. Zhang," Li Huai joked.

"Get lost! Even if I'm busy, do you think I don't have time to answer your call? Qinglan, look at you, you're getting more and more glib. You'd better keep an eye on things."

Li Huai glared at him and said, "What nonsense are you talking about? Aren't you just trying to sow discord between them?"

Xiao Duo, the third child who rode in the car with her parents, never expected that her father would be so lively when talking to Uncle Zhang in private.

When they came to pick them up, Madam Sun had already given them a heads-up, telling them to go straight to her place and not to wander off.

Sure enough, all three cars drove towards Madam Sun's courtyard house.

At home, the Sun family had been eagerly awaiting the children's arrival. Zhao Qingju and her husband had already brought their son over early, and Sun Guangming was playing with the little guy, who was at the most adorable age with his chubby face.

Upon hearing the sound of a car outside, everyone inside went out.

"Grandma, great-aunt, great-uncle."
