Setting down the cup, Zhao Qinglan followed his hand and looked over.
"Oh, this is my mom."
"How old is your mother? What's her name?" Sun Guangming pressed.
Zhao Qinglan found it strange, and even Zhao Qingzhu, who was sitting there, looked over.
"Why are you asking this?" she asked defensively.
"Comrade Zhao, can you tell me? This is very important to me." Sun Guangming looked a little excited.
Zhao Qinglan and her sister exchanged a glance before she spoke.
"My mother's name is Sun Shuping, and she is forty-six years old this year."
Sun Guangming's eyes suddenly reddened.
This startled Zhao Qinglan. "Please don't panic, what's wrong?"
"What's wrong with Qinglan?" Li Huai returned.
Seeing that there was another person in the room, Li Huai was quite surprised. "Director Sun, what are you doing here?"
Sun Guangming's gaze softened immediately as he looked at them.
He turned to Zhao Qinglan, his voice trembling slightly, and said, "Your mother is my sister, Comrade Zhao, I am your uncle."
What!
Zhao Qinglan's eyes widened.
"You're my uncle?" How could that be? My mother's older brother and sister, her uncles and aunts, were all separated during the war.
But when she thought of Sun Guangming's name and saw his reaction, Zhao Qinglan realized that he wasn't making it up.
Zhao Qingzhu, who was standing to the side, and Li Huai, who had just entered, were also startled.
Li Huai looked completely bewildered. "What on earth is going on?"
No, everything will be clear when her mother comes back.
Zhao Qinglan didn't immediately claim kinship with excitement. After the initial shock, she said, "My mother will be back soon. Whether you are my uncle or not, let's wait until my mother meets you before we talk about it."
Even if Zhao Qinglan didn't mention it, Sun Guangming was determined to see the Sun family.
When the eldest brother and his siblings returned home together, they found the atmosphere at home strange, and there was an unfamiliar person there as well.
Zhao Qingzhu invited them to sit inside the house.
"Second Aunt, who is that person outside?" Xiao Duo asked.
"That person might be a relative of ours. We'll find out when your grandma comes back."
As she spoke, Zhao Qingzhu also looked outside.
If that person really were my uncle, how wonderful it would be! My mother would be overjoyed.
Although her mother rarely mentioned it, Zhao Qingzhu knew that her mother cared about her older brother and sister.
Sun would take the bus that went into town to pick up the children who were going to school there in the afternoon, so she would always get home a little later than Zhao Qinglan and the others.
Even the most important things still require eating, so Zhao Qinglan quickly started cooking while her husband sat with Sun Guangming.
The aroma of food wafting from the house was just beginning to fill the air when Sun's voice rang out from outside.
"Big brother, second brother, little girl, look what delicious food Grandma brought you."
Inside the room, Sun Guangming jumped up.
As soon as Mrs. Sun entered the house, someone rushed out and almost knocked her over.
Startled, she looked up and frowned. "Who are you? What are you doing at my daughter's house?"
“Shuping, it’s me, it’s your brother.” Sun Guangming’s eyes reddened as he looked at his sister.
"What?!" Sun dropped what she was holding and stared intently at Sun Guangming's face.
"Are you my brother?"
Many years have passed, and the brother and sister have changed a lot. The reason why Sun Guangming was able to recognize his sister more quickly is because Sun looks very much like her mother who passed away many years ago.
“Yes, I am the older brother,” Sun Guangming said, his voice choked with emotion.
The next second, Mrs. Sun hugged him and burst into tears.
"Brother, where have you been all these years? Parents missed you until their dying day."
Although he had already guessed that his parents might be gone, hearing it from his younger sister still brought tears to Sun Guangming's eyes.
The brother and sister embraced and wept bitterly, which made Zhao Qinglan and her sister shed tears as well.
When they cried, the children all cried too.
Li Huai was also somewhat sentimental, but not to the point of shedding tears.
Zhou Jingsheng was the last to return home. He was about to ask his wife how she was feeling when he saw her crying all over the place, and he was completely stunned.
Once the family had calmed down a bit and sat down, they began to share their experiences over the years.
Zhao Qinglan brought out all the food and told everyone to eat and talk at the same time so they wouldn't go hungry.
Zhao Qingzhu had already told her husband what had happened, and Zhou Jingsheng found it all very unbelievable.
Even Li Huai found it amazing.
The wife never mentioned her uncle, nor did she try to find him. It seems that there was no such thing as recognizing relatives in her past life.
But in this lifetime, I actually saw it. Actually, if I think about it carefully, it was because of my wife's influence.
If it weren't for Zhao Qinglan, Li Huai would never have paid attention to that problematic father and daughter, and none of the subsequent events would have led to Sun Guangming's investigation.
In her previous life, Sun probably never found her own brother before she died.
Li Huai guessed correctly; in their previous lives, neither Sun Shi nor Sun Guangming could find each other until their deaths.
Zhao Qinglan was the one who had the most feelings.
In her lifetime, she actually met her own uncle, who was an official.
Judging from the way her husband addressed her when he entered, his position must not be too low.
The brother and sister, separated for many years, naturally had endless things to talk about when they reunited.
After finishing their meal, the two went to the room next door where Sun Shi was staying at Zhao Qingzhu's house for a detailed chat.
It was very late when Sun Guangming finally left and returned to the accommodation arranged for him by the troupe.
The crying they were making was quite loud, which attracted Wu Mei from next door to come and ask what was going on.
Upon learning that Sun Guangming was actually Sun's long-lost older brother and Zhao Qinglan's maternal uncle, Wu Mei found it all incredibly amazing.
