Grandma Wang and Wang Dahua weren't exactly brave people; after being frightened by Zhao Qinglan, they didn't dare to do anything.
Old Wang knew about the foolish things his wife and daughter had done and scolded them.
"Look at you, Dazhi and Qinglan have been divorced for so many years, and you two are crazy to go and cause trouble for them again. I think you're just bored."
If there's anyone in the Wang family who's still somewhat sensible, it's probably Old Man Wang.
After spending one last night at the hotel, Zhao Qinglan made a sarcastic remark to the hotel staff when checking out in the morning, since they were the ones who let the Wang family mother and daughter in.
The hotel staff were also feeling guilty. When Zhao Qinglan said she was going to report them, they tried to appease her and even reduced the room rate before finally settling the matter.
Actually, Zhao Qinglan and the others were in a hurry to get to the train station, so they didn't have time to report it. They were just venting their frustration.
The people at this hotel are really dishonest. They only let people in because they took the money from the Wang mother and daughter and were greedy for a bargain.
The mother and her daughters didn't feel at ease until they entered the waiting room at the train station.
"When is Mom coming back?" Erwa kept asking at home.
Xiao Duo glanced at her younger brother. "What, you think my cooking is bad?"
Erwa immediately tried to appease her. "No, no, sis, I just miss Mom."
The eldest child was playing Chinese chess with Cheng Tao when he heard this and burst out laughing. "Second child, you don't need to make excuses for yourself."
"Oh, if you miss Aunt Zhao's cooking, just miss it. We won't laugh at you," Cheng Tao joked.
When summer vacation started, Da Wa didn't go back home. Instead, he happily ran to the provincial capital to visit Da Wa.
With the addition of Zhao Qingzhu's two daughters, the house is now practically the children's domain.
When Li Huai comes home from get off work every day, he is overwhelmed by the sight of so many people in his house, and he is just glad that he is not home during the day.
When Zhao Qinglan and the others took the train back, they got off at the provincial capital first. Because they didn't tell Li Huai in advance, no one knew when they would be back.
When the mother and her three daughters arrived outside her yard, they could hear a great deal of noise coming from inside.
"Children, we're back!" Zhao Qinglan shouted from the doorway.
"mom."
"grandmother."
"Second Aunt, Little Aunt."
"Aunt."
"Aunt Zhao."
The children were shouting all sorts of things.
With Zhao Qinglan and the others back, the house became even more lively, and the children now had someone to rely on.
The children don't care about things back home, and Zhao Qinglan and the others won't talk about them either.
Zhao Qingju hadn't seen her nephews and nieces for a long time, and seeing the children this time made her feel especially close to them.
When Li Huai came home from get off work, he found the house even more lively than during the Chinese New Year. He was very happy, though, because his wife had finally returned.
Fortunately, Zhao Qinglan's house has a large enough courtyard and enough rooms for everyone to stay.
After everyone had dinner together, they went back to their rooms to rest, leaving only a few children watching TV.
As soon as Zhao Qinglan returned to the bedroom, she started talking to her husband about their hometown.
"They want us to pay them? Dream on." She was indignant when she mentioned the Zhao family's shamelessness.
“You’ll make them feel bad if you turn back,” Li Huai said with a smile.
"That's right, I donate but don't let them benefit at all. I just let them watch and not get anything, and suffer terribly."
"My wife is really something." Li Huai laughed heartily, finding even the way his wife threw a tantrum adorable.
"Oh, right, something else happened this time, it was really dangerous." She thought of the unexpected turn of events before she left.
Li Huai's expression immediately changed. "What happened?"
“The day before my mother and I were to leave, Wang Dazhi’s mother and sister, along with two young men, came to the hotel where we were staying. They clearly had ill intentions. Fortunately, I scared the two young men away first, so they didn’t dare to do anything reckless.”
Li Huai, still shaken, pulled his wife into his arms. "Qinglan, if you ever want to go back, I'll go with you."
"I understand, but I don't know when I'll be able to go back again. Don't worry, I'm fine now."
"But I'm scared. What will happen to me and the children if something happens to you?" He couldn't even imagine the consequences if something happened to his wife.
He couldn't bear the thought of losing her; the more he thought about it, the more afraid he became.
"Qinglan, I'm just afraid, afraid of losing you."
Zhao Qinglan sensed her husband's agitated state and quickly tried to calm him down.
...
After staying at their house for one night, Zhao Qingzhu left the next day with her two children, mother, and sister after dinner.
"Qinglan, you should just stay home. We'll go back soon," said Madam Sun. She could easily see how much her son-in-law doted on her eldest daughter.
However, after so many years of marriage, the couple's relationship is still so good, which makes her, as their mother, very happy.
Zhao Qinglan didn't insist. She had been away for several days, and she needed to go to the company to check on things.
After seeing her mother and sister off, Zhao Qinglan went straight to the company.
Zhang Wenjing wasn't at the company; she went to the supermarket to supervise the work. She looked at some reports and listened to Qin Zhaocai's explanation, so she had a good understanding of the company's situation these days.
Even when she's not around, the company's stores are all operating well, and the supermarket project hasn't been delayed.
This also satisfied Zhao Qinglan. A qualified company should be able to operate normally even when the boss is not around.
After reporting, Qin Zhaocai had something he wanted to say but didn't speak.
Fortunately, Zhao Qinglan noticed and asked him directly, "Brother Qin, what's wrong?"
"Mr. Zhao, are you planning to hire more people at the supermarket later?"
